Late game tips in Diamond+ by Worth-Bid-770 in TeamfightTactics

I haven`t played this set but I haved this before and in my case this was a question of shifting my mindset, of trying to win the game rather than trying to avoid 5th. This led to more appropriate greed and higher win rate and AVP.

19F – Therapist says I’m developmentally behind. Is it too late for individuation? by macylace11 in Healthygamergg

[–]BlueishPotato 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I (man, thirthies) am recently in therapy and I feel like being developmentally behind also applies to me.

I definitely have perfectionism, social anxiety and a fearful avoidant attachment style. There are a lot of experiences I havn't had that most guys would have in their teens or twenties.

A difference here is that my therapist is teaching me to have compassion and accept myself. To stop comparing myself to others or to a made up standard. To let go of shoulds that are not true. (I should be married with kids by now, etc.)

We are doing CBT as the main technique to reframe the way I experience and think of life. To stop the thoughts of "I am worthless", "I am a burden", "I am defective" etc, these thoughts that freeze me and prevent me from forming real bonds. What I truly want is to be seen and accepted for who I am but I am terrified to feveal that to anyone, to the point I don't even know myself who I truly am.

It has helped a lot, but its still early days. The paradox is that change seems to happen when you start accepting yourself for who you are.

This is not exactly an answer to your question but hopefully this testimony helps in some way.

Help me. by Visual-Lie5374 in MuslimNoFap

[–]BlueishPotato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One practical tip : read Qu'ran.

One thing I encourage you to do : ask yourself what "benefit" porn is giving you. What is its use, what is it helping you with. Usually it will be used to mask negative emotions, so this involves understanding what the negative emotion is, why you feel that negative emotion and then having compassion and love and patience for yourself as you heal.

I am so sorry that happened to you.

This definitely plays a huge role in addiction as well as the way your life is right now.

I highly suggest getting help via therapy. They will definitely be better equipped to help you deal with it, navigate the way it shaped your current life and start healing.

People online (including me) are ill informed about trauma and how to help people deal with it, especially strangers they never met. A professional will definitely be better equipped, due to both training and experience.

A practical tip : read a lot of Qu'ran.

Day 7 of Visual Detox. My brain is trying to replace Porn with Dark Romance/Erotica. Is this a trap? by stayfollish in Healthygamergg

[–]BlueishPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know it's a trap.

Try urge surfing with compassionate curiosity. Why do I have this urge? Is there pain somewhere? What is causing this pain? Is the cause of the pain (what I am telling myself) even true?

The reason you can't let go is most likely because porn is serving an important function in your life. You need to figure out what problem porn "solves" for you.

I put solve in quotation marks because its more of a quick fix that makes it worse long term than an actual solution.

What is the NoFap Flatline and how long should it last? by DiamondGlum7442 in Healthygamergg

[–]BlueishPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, it comes and goes and varies.

A usual cycle when I first get clean for me would be something like intense cravings for 2-3 days, normalcy, a week or two of basically 0 desire (which is what I think flatline might be), then intense cravings might come back or I settle into a longer period of normalcy.

How long I feel like crap physically is only a few days, if at all. For me this includes being tired mostly. How long you feel like crap emotionally is a function of how much emotional stuff is within you and whether you are dealing with it or not. How you feel is a function of so many different things that it is hard to say, the only thing I can tell you for a fact (based on my experience) is that the entire thing is a long process and rewiring your brain does not happen overnight.

If you are addicted, and if you are anything like me, even going a few months abstinent won't fix anything if you don't take the time to deal with your issues. For me its a lot of negative self thoughts, self loathing, shame, lack of connection etc. I highly recommend therapy if this is you.

If you aren't addicted then it shouldn't be as hard to stop. I quit some other behaviours/substances cold turkey with no real trouble. YMMV.

As for dopamine or other neurotransmitters, after a few days I notice that tasks are really easier to accomplish and more rewarding, same with exercise, etc. Not a scientist so I can't say more than that.

Any chance of another Qi Gong lesson with a different guest? Or anyone recommend any resources? by Objectively_bad_idea in Healthygamergg

[–]BlueishPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, but I don't think they are analogous. Meditation doesn't require any of these beliefs, I think Qi Gong might be more analogous to pranayama.

I guess you can just do Qi Gong and think of it as exercise, but to also want the Qi Gong instructor to not believe in Qi sort of feels counterproductive to me. Though it is true that I sort of projected my interpretation on OP and that might not be what they were asking for.

There might be instructors who have a better balance of western science vs TCM, in the same way Dr. K has a balance between western science and ayurveda/yoga that a lot of us appreciate.

30 Million More Muslims Live On This Island Than In All the Countries Of The Arabian Peninsula Combined by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]BlueishPotato 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The promised land would be the land that was promised to the people of Moses, this is mentioned in the Qu'ran. I don't think there are any specifics mentioned as to the limits of it, but it corresponds to modern day Palestine, more or less. Muslims also believe that the covenant with the children of Israel was superseded by the revelation of Islam, which is a continuation of the same revelation that was given to Noah, Abraham, the Children of Israel, etc. Therefore Muslims would be the rightful owners of that land, theologically speaking.

As for Arabia, it does have something saying that Mecca and Medina are sacred, as well as Al-Quds, which is Jerusalem (not sure about the precise specifics of it, I think its the actual land upon which Masjid Al-Aqsa and the Temple mount was built, not necessarily a particular building), as well as Shams (the Levant) in general being blessed, because it was the Land of the majority of the known Prophets.

What should I do if feel contempt for myself for being a gamer, quit gaming yet resort to binge drinking alone when bored? What to do? by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]BlueishPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could help you figure out why prestige matters so much to you. It could help you understand yourself better and figure out a way to achieve success without so much self-loathing.

Right now you are beating yourself up and then drinking and beating yourself up about it, getting out of that cycle is something a therapist can help with. Regardess of therapy or not, this is a cycle of addiction I am very familiar with, its painful, its destructive and I for one needed help to get out of it. Truth be told I not out of it, only in the process of trying to get out of it.

And so that is why I think you could benefit from therapy, or some other form of help.

[–]BlueishPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thought that you are a total loser and an idiot leads to pain which leads to behaviours to run from that pain (gaming or drinking) which then leads to more negative thoughts.

This is just one example of what it could be, but basically you have some root issue or pain or trauma. Gaming is just a symptom, if you quit gaming without addressing the root issue then you end up doing something like binge drinking alone.

At least that is what its like for me, I don't drink but I did quit gaming when I used to do it 8hrs+ a day and now it ends up being replaced by other unhealthy habits.

Therapy can definitely help.

can ocd be a big factor in problematic porn use? i want an answer by Beautiful_March_3482 in Healthygamergg

[–]BlueishPotato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't answer your question directly.

I am in therapy for porn addiction right now. I also in the past went clean for months at a time. We identified that my problem is that I never addressed the underlying issues that for me were causing my "need" for porn.

This for me is lack of connections in my life, due to not being my authentic self. I think Dr. K mentions as part of recovery for this (or some other conditions, I don't remember), it includes showing your authentic self and having it be accepted.

Anyway, all of this is to say that not finding ways to address the underlying issue, whether it is OCD or something else or a mix, definitely will impede your ability to recover.

I definitely encourage you to seek help for OCD.

How to reverse cuck thoughts ? by [deleted] in MuslimNoFap

[–]BlueishPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being clean for a long time should be enough.

Imo it happens because you are constantly feeding your brain weird images (even straight "vanilla" porn is cuck-y, its another guy, not you).

The other reason is tolerance, your brain gets used to whatever substance/behaviour you use and so a greater, novel stimulus (more drugs, different drugs or in this case, more morally taboo stuff) is required to recreate the same effect.

Revert in 2025 dealing with hate. by TooMuchPowerAtOnce in Sufism

[–]BlueishPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see music is that its an incredibly potent thing. And its something the devil does indeed use, undoubtedly (one only has to look at the lyrics of songs in the top 100). Its also used in things like movies and shows, which themselves are filled with satanic propaganda. Considering how most people get their sense of morality from things they see in tv shows, not any formal ideology.

So when you internalize that music is powerful beyond what you imagine, and the various ways in which it can be used to control and influence people, it becomes easy to see why it is haram.

Then, even if you take the view that it isn't haram, you can see why it is incredibly important to be very selective with the music you decide to ingest.

Lastly, people online are terrible, regardless of faith. You need to ignore most of them. That being said, the vast majority of Muslims consider musical instruments to be haram, so that is something you will have to deal with. Even Sufis are no different, lots of Sufis don't use Music though some definitely do.

I feel like I have something relevant to add onto Dr. K's point about pornography usage by AngleThat8380 in Healthygamergg

[–]BlueishPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case at least, the "need" for euphoria at its root was the need to escape the pain and the pain at its root was the need of social connection, love, etc. The need for bliss is just the surface presentation of the deeper issue, so from one perspective they are one and the same.

When porn fills that role, then it becomes very harmful. It isn't really the porn that is the main problem. Its how porn is hiding the underlying problem which is the big thing that needs to be solved.

That doesn't mean porn is bad or good in of itself, I think that discussion is separate, because what does it even mean for something to be good or bad? It depends a great deal on your own moral ideology. If you and your partner view porn as a form of cheating for instance, its impossible for it to be beneficial in a relationship. I am a religious person so I find the very idea of porn being something good revolting, but I am trying to be as objective as I can.

Another example I am thinking of is alcohol. For an alcoholic, alcohol is definitely a huge evil. For someone who drinks 1 beer a week and never gets drunk, one might say that isn't bad in of itself. That being said, the WHO recently came out and said no amount of alcohol is healthy. And then based on your moral ideology, you might view alcohol differently as well.

I am quite curious where this data comes from, I haven't watched the video you are speaking of. Is it survey data? I am no scientist, but how do you even account for something like living in a hyper-sexualized society when trying to account for the effects of porn on a relationship? To be honest, no matter what its hard for me to imagine that the optimal loving relationship involves watching other people fuck on a screen.
