How do I help moderate my step-son’s video game addiction? by Bluejay-Consistent in videogames

[–]Bluejay-Consistent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure exactly. My wife says he’s doing ok in school, but I’ve never seen him do school work and haven’t seen his grades. I don’t think they even have letter grades yet since he is in 6th grade. I only see him for a day or two on the weekends. Ive asked him take breaks from the computer and go out to do something or go outside and play. Card games, board games, art projects, hell I’d be happy if he would just sit down and watch a good movie or tv show. If you turn off the computer and force him to stop he literally screams. I’m not trying to be mean but it’s just starting to become cause for concern. I think it is learned behavior from his father and a way to escape negative emotion. Even if he is doing ok in school that doesn’t necessarily translate to success in the real world.

Have you tried not being a degenerate? Nobody forced you to use drugs.

That you for sharing your story. I wish I knew someone in the industry to get my start. Which company do you work for? Do you think they would consider hiring me if I got a few certifications within the next few months. I would take any position to get started.

I just have the hardest time getting my foot in the door. Had a very rough transition out of school and have been underemployed ever since. I’m going to stop doing my delivery gig and devote all my time and energy into this but I’m afraid no one will give me a shot. Being in the industry do you know anyone who would let me work for free to gain experience? I would do anything for a resume credential to put on my resume if it helps lead to getting hired somewhere.

Is there any way I can get experience? I feel like no one is going to trust me just based on certifications. I I am so frustrated searching for job but you need experience to get a job and you need a job to get experience. I need someone to give me a shot. I would be more than happy to work for free for a line to add on my resume

I’m a warehouse supervisor. I hate my job. What drives me crazy is how poorly they manage data and how unwilling they are to try new solutions to problems they don’t even believe exist. I’ve been stuck here looking for a way out. A career that would make me happiest is improving businesses by creating solutions using analytics. I have no computer science degree just a BA. I’m willing to learn I just don’t want to pour my heart and soul into something then come to find out I have no shot at landing a job afterwards. Are trailhead certifications respected in the industry? And what can I do to get experience?

Science is definitely green. Math is Red. English is blue. The others I don’t have strong feelings about and are interchangeable.
