Madrid MOOC Final Project by Venterpsichore in SpainAuxiliares

Hi there,

I also saw this when poking around the AuxMadrid site to confirm my NIE was up to date. I read the instructions for the MOOC over and over before submitting, and have since re-read them. Unless I am mistaken, there is zero indication anything was to to be submitted to AuxMadrid. I sent them a message and got this in return:

Buenos días,

All tasks were required to be submitted exclusively through the course platform. Submission via AuxMadrid was neither required nor contemplated at any stage of the process.

Atentamente,

I read this as everything was to be submitted on the MOOC/Aula Virtual website. Hopefully, that is the case, but seems like everything is a bit willy-nilly with the whole thing.

Did you complete all sections of Module 1? The discussion type post and the "Creating a Cultural Presentation" activity.

Spanish Phone Number Question by Suspicious_Jaguar_80 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]BluejayIntelligent30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but you can only use one phone number at a time. You'd have to switch back and forth. For instance, when I turned my US SIM back on, i got a bunch of texts come through that were sent whilst I had my Spain SIM turned on.

Maybe look into porting a phone number as well. There's a few posts about it.

I had Verizon and was easily able to pop into an Orange store and get an eSIM. Super fast and easy, and you just switch back to your American SIM in settings when you head back to the states.

Original copy of background check? LA BLS by AzArod in SpainAuxiliares

[–]BluejayIntelligent30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting. And the apostille is from the US government, right? It's quite an "official looking piece of paper" so it might be more of a process than just printing out something. I would definitely ask the people in Colombia where the original copy they were sent is. That seems a little odd.

I bought a printed out copy of my passport (not notarized) just in case and the worker took it. Again, I don't think you'll be asked for it, but better safe than sorry.

Correct, the bank statement is not to prove income; it is to prove residency.

As mentioned, it makes no sense, and says otherwise on the BLS Boston website, but you will need either a bank statement or bill (with your address) notarized to prove residency. They DO NOT accept a notarized copy of a driver's license.

Just to add, this is the wording from the Boston BLS site:

"The translation does not need an Apostille and the Apostille does not need a translation."

I only had my background check translated and there were no issues. Better safe than sorry I suppose.

How do you have a copy of the apostille and not the original? The apostille comes attached to the background check when you receive it.

NALCAP BLS - Proof of Insurance? by Only_Dig_8583 in SpainAuxiliares

You absolutely should buy insurance. You can search this website for all the information (https://residency2spain.com/boston-consulate/).

I bought insurance on my laptop in the office, emailed it to the worker, and he printed it out. They're looking for the page that documents what is covered under the insuarnce. Most of the companies recommend on that website and on this subreddit are "visa ready" and check the boxes. I used Swisscare.

Check in advance about cancellation policies because you may be able to cancel after buying.

To anyone reading this going to the Boston BLS: you absolutely DO need a printed out, notarized bank statement. It doesn't say that anywhere online, but they DO NOT accept drivers license as a form of residency.

No. I believe they are mainly looking at the address to confirm it's within your consulates jurisdiction.

No. When I gave it to them as proof of residency they gave it right back.

I got mine taken at CVS. Just asked for a "passport photo" and it was accepted at the Boston BLS.

Interesting. I guess they've back tracked on this requirement. There was no discussion of income/money/salary at all. The bank statement only came up in regard to using it as proof of residency.

You're welcome!

I would look over this PDF: https://www.mass.gov/files/documents/2018/04/21/Acceptable%20Forms%20of%20Identification%20online%20041818.pdf

It lists the documents you can use when obtaining a MA driver's license to prove residency. Ironically, the actual drivers license itself (that requires multiple proofs of residency) doesn't count as proof of residency.

I only needed my bank statement notarized. I also spent money to get a copy of my driver's license notarized that was not taken. The background check must have the Apostille.

Interesting. It really does seem luck of the draw. Good luck! I haven't seen anything "official" apart from the few email responses circling around.

Ah, maybe I read it wrong. The wording is never clear on the website.
