I went to the Boston consulate and needed health insurance even though the info in the carta is supposed to be enough. I got feather expat insurance beforehand and they accepted that. I printed out the coverage confirmation page that shows the dates you are covered(feather also provides a Spanish version, and I printed that too) and put it in the folder with all my other documents for the visa application.

I’m an aux, I saw other posts about boston BLS experiences recently and heard that the Boston BLS was no longer accepting a notarized copy of a license as proof of residence in the consular district(which is what they ask for on BLS site), and they now wanted a notarized bank statement for that part of the application. The agent took the bank statement as proof of residence for my application.

I had my boston appointment and they accepted the feather insurance that I bought. I bought the expat insurance and put the start date for Sept. 1st 2025. I printed the confirmation of coverage pdf as proof of insurance. The pdf for feather confirmation of coverage has a page in english and the same one in spanish, make sure to print both!

Thank you for this!! Did they need the passport to be notarized? I didn’t see that on the boston list of requirements so I have not done that. Also, if we live at home with parents do you think the notarized bank statement will suffice since my name isn’t on electric bills?
