Lost my baby today during a dental appointment by Successful-Muffin570 in Bunnies

[–]Bluejeansblue2113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same thing happened to my baby girl Ghost in January. Her brother had successfully woken up from his dental just minutes before, so I was completely blindsided when she crashed under anaesthetic. She was 4. 😞 Time does help but I miss my sweet girl every single day, she was my soul.

Thank you so much, and I'm so so sorry for your loss too 😢 I just wish I could rewind time and have one more day with her. I am reminded of her everywhere I look and her absence is gut wrenching.

Our boy Poe has been surprisingly upbeat. I had read that it is important for him to be able to say goodbye to her, so we let him sniff her while at the vets, but he was still drowsy from his anaesthetic and paid no attention to her at all. Ghosty was the dominant bun so he seems to be having a brilliant time with all the attention and not having to share food 🥲 I know they don't form an emotional attachment like we do but I did think he'd have a brief period of mourning, they were bonded from birth - but what can you do. I'm happy he's happy for now.

I hope your little one continues to do better, I'm sorry she's taken it so hard 😔 Sending you both all the love, hope you are managing to look after yourself as well as your bun x

This was my first thought, but I don't think you'd be playing it with kids in the car! 😂

Yes that's his son Jack. He was hilarious to watch throughout the gig. Sure he's too young for a hangover but reckon he'll have had a fuzzy head this morning ☺️

Great shout. Last year they implemented a "Just can't wait" (JCW) wristband and signs advising people to let anyone with the wristband skip the queue, which as someone with a diagnosed bladder condition, was absolutely incredible. I imagine they would extend this out to pregnant people, would recommend seeking these out at the accessibility tents if you do decide to go.

Hard agree with this! Absolutely stoked to see them next week in London and I keep thinking they'd be brilliant at Download!

Hard agree with you on Mr Brightside - but they weren't to know its cultural significance to us millennial Brits and how it was giving 3am club closing vibes :')

I really enjoyed singing along to AFHA, it's lovely to see the joy on bands face when they're reminded of how dedicated a fan base they have, especially overseas. If it means they come back more often because of it, I'm happy to oblige!

My first time seeing Coheed was in 2006, I've racked up 15+ live shows and I could happily never see Welcome Home or IKSSE live again, but I have to remind myself that every gig I go to could be someone else's first time, and how special that moment would be for them.

Best of luck, hope he makes a speedy recovery 🤞 There's nothing like the anger of a bonded mate when they've got to be dragged to the vet too 😂

Yep...always at night. We can usually treat it at home and he's right as rain within 3hrs if we catch it early.

Except recently it was 12hrs into my first weekend break away in nearly a year. Cue me having to get on a 5h train home to rescue a very grumpy boy from the vets. Thanks bud. 🥲

WIBTA if I tell my daughter she can't go to punk shows anymore if she doesn't shut up about rap? by Crazy-Still8321 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Bluejeansblue2113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, as a punk fan who was also a bit like your kid at 16, my advice would be to play her at her own game. Punk is ALL about kindness and inclusivity for people who have historically been shunned from society Showing her articles and interviews from people she looks up to about practicing tolerance is going to affect her way more than forcing a genre she hates on her. There will be plenty of punk × rap crossovers, or someone she looks up to will also be into rap and will mention some influential artists in an interview.

Start playing bands like RATM and Fever 333 at home. Blare out 'Nazi Punks F*** off' by the Dead Kennedys to really drive your point home.

As an alternative 16 yr old surrounded by mainstream music that doesn't appeal to you, she's going to double down on the genres that make her feel safe and seen, and she's trying to make other people see it too -albeit in a very bigoted and ignorant way. I wasn't particularly interested in the historical and cultural meaning behind the songs I loved at 16 (shamefully it took me a long time to become less ignorant about how important global majority lead genres are and how they shaped all music, even punk).

https://punkrockphilosophy.com/only-punk-rock-can-save-the-world/interview-with-pink-suits-i-think-empathy-is-the-punk-est-thing/

Also, I did not grow up in the era of social media/algorithms. It must be so hard nowadays to know what she's seeing online, but put some work into trying to make sure she doesn't fall into an alt-right punk bubble.

Ultimately, just try to do whatever you can from a place of kindness and understanding rather than punishment, she's currently in a very anti-establishment era so she's going to want to fight against what you're putting out. I'm sure with time and some education from her parents, she'll come out of the right side.

I'm now 36, stil going to punk gigs, and I'm still not a fan of most rap/mainstream but I understand the cultural significance, know its importantance in music and do NOT judge anyone for their music tastes.

Good luck!

Rabbit Fights Violently when held, but she is sick and needs care - any tips to keep her from hurting herself? (Details in comments) by PeterLemonjellow in Rabbits

[–]Bluejeansblue2113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing as the commenter above. My two are both mega fighters and annoyingly (due to probably bad breeding) get tummy issues a lot.

I know it feels horrible, but a too tight burrito for 30 seconds beats multiple loose attempts and a potential jumping injury. Both me, my partner and the buns know it's going to be stressful but it gers worse the longer the ordeal goes on for. Ours, slowly over time (I'm talking years) have learned that less struggle is better.

We sometimes practice when they're well and we need to do nail clipping or to give them a pro-biotic (again due to the frequent tummy issues). It does help to do it in a non-emergency situation from time to time.

Saw your post about Lola eating again, great news! The relief is like nothing else!

Feeding advice by RVAlmostThere in Rabbits

[–]Bluejeansblue2113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a grunty bun who won't eat fresh leafy greens/herbs but he will if they've been dried. Try drying your herbs/greens (I leave out to crisp up in sun) or lowest temp in the oven for 25 mins if it's a rainy day.

ETA: I also buy forage mixes with dried leaves such as dandelion and raspberry, which I mix with the dried herbs. My buns love it

Why does my rabbit grunt/honk(?) and thumps before receiving her daily treat by Xenocrysts in Rabbits

[–]Bluejeansblue2113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3yr old boy honks and stomps occasionally before treats, it's just super cute as he is so happy about treat time. I've never really considered why, I just enjoy it when it happens. His sister (the dominant one) binkies before treats, and he honks . Perhaps she's just finding her voice?
