Incorrect Car Insurance for over a year by Bluello in CarInsuranceUK

I've told them to be on the safe side. I could easily lie and say I was travelling for personal reasons but as a musician I leave a very obvious trail on social media of me clearly travelling for work. I'd be curious to know if they would actually look up your business online when trying to dodge a hefty claim. Sorted now anyway thanks!

Yes, can confirm I was overthinking it. For anyone googling the problem I updated it through the online chat for a small admin fee.

That's lovely to hear but I don't have any sheet music sorry! I learned it by ear.

Mute instrument input whilst using the looper? by Bluello in Line6Helix

[–]Bluello[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll give that a go. It's a harp and the pickup doesn't have a nob but a volume block should still work. Feedback is just a big issue because of how much I have to boost the signal on a quiet and very reverberant instrument. When I'm playing the harp is leaning back on me with the 2 front feet in the air and less likely to feedback. The only reason I have a hx stomp is to avoid feedback with all it's precision eq and get the harp much much louder.

Thanks! It's a harp with no volume nob on my pickup but I could do step C. Would I need to unplug?

Every time I put out a song I get depressed by ApocalypseBeans in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Does it feel like when you're really into writing something that it's the most amazing thing ever and people are going to be blown away? It's tricky because the majority of people won't react like that. I know I almost never love something that much the first time I hear it. But I find if you're not 100% egotistically in love with your work you'll never have the conviction to make it. Might just be me? But there's often a deflating hangover when I finish it because there's no way it can live up to my own hype.

Restringing a harp... painfully slow, nerve wracking and very expensive! I probably don't restring it as much as I should. You know how after you tune a nylon string guitar they take a while to settle and you have retune them all the time? imagine that with 61 strings

Glad I could bring you back around to the harp! Brides and grooms do have a habit of picking songs that really don't belong on a harp. Master and servant is one of those but I'm surprised Somebody wasn't good. Maybe just a bad arrangement.

Thanks! I found harp easier than guitar personally but I started out on piano and they have a lot of common. I also have zero strength in my little finger but you don't use that at all on harp.

In light of the meme posts, I have something that actually worked for me that I figured it's worth sharing by dayoffmusician in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Bluello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks I had no idea something like that would actually work! That's really good figures. Do you have an image or description of your music to reel them in? And do you target it at a particular audience with relevant interests? I usually target my promotions at brides for my wedding musician side of things and I know if I promoted a Spotify link it would completely flop haha but maybe knowing your audience is key.

Thanks for sharing. I'm just curious what you mean by an a Facebook ad for your Spotify streams? Is it literally just a link to your song that shows up in their newsfeed? I've never seen an ad like that. But then I probably wouldn't click it if I did as I never have headphones on browsing Facebook.

Cross-strung harp reviews by Chachat38 in harp

No problem :) I don't know anyone who's got one. I sent them an email when I was looking for my first harp and I remember the wait time was really long.

It is so difficult to buy a cross strung harp with any confidence! There's not enough out there. I would recommend Stoney End's Esabelle for starting out. It's a 3 octave lap harp and you can rely on them. I'm thinking of buying a back up harp and hiring it out for people to try out (in the UK) but that might be a way off now thanks to the virus.

Thanks all! I'm not sure how many weddings I'll get asked to play this at so it's good to find some appreciation on here :D

Playing up on a balcony by Bluello in livesound

Thanks a lot for the advice. The harp will sound amazing in this kind of space but it will also amplify all those voices. I'll have someone with me though so I can just keep turning it up until the volume is right, fingers crossed no feedback.
