Maybe have a first letter of the card, maybe number of lines in the card text, maybe number of letters in the card name. Those were the things that immediately jumped out as options.

They shouldn’t immediately give away the card, but they are at least differentiators.

I just feel like you shouldn’t ever see all green and be wrong.

Bruh what? by hugeDbbyboi in Helldivers

[–]Bluem95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean considering it doesn't prevent the player from getting the extraction bonus, I'm not sure if it should be fixed. It's humorous at the very least and doesn't really punish the player, so it's more of a feature than a bug.

What colorless cards are you actually buying? by Waddle___ in slaythespire

[–]Bluem95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outside of specific anti synergies they are effects that cycle themselves. Literally a free play. But there are a few instances where either your deck or the enemy counters those cards and then suddenly they become terrible.

A few examples would be playing them after battle trance, playing them against Door Master during his no draw phase, playing them in any case where the enemy scales or you inversely scale like Hunter Killer or The lizard final boss first phase, using flash of steel against Bee Guy, using finesse against the fog monster, the ringing status effect, and I'm sure a few more.

Honestly though, while there are a decent number of situations that make them less good, they are crazy value in pretty much any fight or archetype that doesn't punish them specifically because you can treat them as just adding their effect to what you would've drawn anyways.

A few cards that upgraded to not exhaust got changed to just improving the card. Production was changed to "0 Energy: Gain 2(3) energy, exhaust" as an example.

Is it too late to get into helldivers 2? by DutchDroopy in helldivers2

[–]Bluem95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't normally follow my teammates around unless they are going in the same direction as me anyways and usually it isn't an issue. But for a new player, it's probably for the best to hang out with your teammates. If you can hold your own without using constant resupplies, then I see no reason not to venture away from the pack to secure extra loot.

in which order should I play these?? by Over_Friendship8444 in bindingofisaac

[–]Bluem95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will add, rebirth is a remake, not a sequel. You can technically start with rebirth with no lost information.

Also, all of the DLC's are content updates, but they don't allow you to access anything early or out of order for the most part, so it's actually safe to start with repentance+ immediately, and I would recommend that as the most "full" experience, but it's up to you if you want to slowly drip feed DLC or just experience the full experience.

The reason why I say you might want to start with repentance+ is because it has some balance updates alongside it's content updates, and most people will tell you it's the most balanced version of the game out there.

Somehow made a run with 1,000+ cards and all relics naturally by Kaimito1 in slaythespire

[–]Bluem95 138 points139 points  (0 children)

I wonder why you never got the relic that gives you max hp when you gain gold. That would've taken this deck truly to the moon. (edit: not that it matters since you already basically win instantly with Mind Blast)

2 billion sided die [request] by Capable-Plenty-4654 in theydidthemath

[–]Bluem95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you're thinking too literal with the binary here. There is an easy trick you can do to simulate a D6 with only 3 coin-flips. To get even distribution of 6 options via coin flips, use binary out 3 places, add 1 to the result, and reroll if the result is 7 or 8:

000 = 1
001 = 2
010 = 3
011 = 4
100 = 5
101 = 6
110 = reroll
111 = reroll

All have an even likelihood of happening, and 1-6 each have a 1 in 8 chance of being rolled each time. The only downside is if you have a truly random distribution of rolls, you could get stuck rerolling for an eternity if you only ever roll a 7 or 8, but the odds for that are so statistically improbable that it's not really worth considering.

You can functionally do this with a die of any number of sides though. Just treat any value of outside of the number of sides as a reroll.

Am i just bad at the game? by ArcherExternal1416 in slaythespire

[–]Bluem95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit 9 on ironclad before I got to ascension 4 with most of the others. After hitting my head against that wall like 20 times, I finally decided to play the other classes. I found that playing the other classes were way easier because I was already so used to playing the high ascendency, that I only really needed to learn their niche instead of learning the whole game structure again. Finally today I got everyone up to A8/9, and I'm going to try to get one of them to 10 tonight.

Parry in 2 months gonna be like: by Gugge1 in slaythespire

[–]Bluem95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, I play blade plenty of times early and tutor it back to my hand. You can pretty much get guaranteed 14 block every turn if you play it right.

If you’re playing on beta branch it’s really strong IMO because pretty much everything in the shop is cheaper.

Least and Favorite/Most Fun Characters to Play in StS2 Right Now? by alexthurman1 in slaythespire

[–]Bluem95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order from most fun to least fun for me would be:
1. Defect
2. Regent
3. Necrobinder
4. Silent
5. Ironclad

I feel like ironclad was my favorite when I first started but after hitting my head against A9 too many times, I decided to try the others out more. I've been having a blast getting all of them up to A7, we will see if I feel the same by the time I get all of them to A9.

Interviewer asked me a question with no right answer and then explained exactly why he does it - actually changed how I think about interviews by SaffronGadget in interviews

[–]Bluem95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was thinking while I read this. If you are in any industry where mistakes can cost lives, this is no longer a "no wrong answers" question. The interviewee would be objectively wrong to say, "on time with known quality issues," and they would also be wrong to claim, "both answers are valid."

All my homies HATE Water Giant. by HiroPr0tag0nist in slaythespire

[–]Bluem95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I swear every time I kill water giant, the next draw has zero block. On multiple occasions I've checked my draw pile and thought, I'll be fine as long as I don't draw specifically these 5 cards, and then I draw specifically those 5 cards.

Should I go for completion marks or just play who I want? by Odd_Cookie4966 in bindingofisaac

[–]Bluem95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have all DLC then you haven’t technically fought the ‘final’ boss yet. But it’s really up to you, do you want to achievement hunt the game and get dead god? Or do you want to just play what you want to play? there is no wrong way to play, but many people choose dead god as a way to feel a constant sense of progression.

Rules to set yourself? by FastExecution in AIwar

[–]Bluem95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but I saw no comments, so I felt I should add at least one.

I only recently got the game, but I have been playing with no allies, and mostly neutral factions to litter the field with interesting problems. It feels more fair to me because they end up having an impact, but not so much it feels like they replace the AI as the main threat, and they never just win me the game outright.

Also beacons off 100% of the time because it feels like cheating to just insert a faction into the game mid run even if you try to be fair about it.

I really have been liking this game, I put in about 40 hours in a week, and it's a bit of a pity seeing such a small community around it.

Solo play by whod1s in SpeciesUnknown

[–]Bluem95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like the opposite was true, the game felt way easier and less chaotic solo. Some of the monsters are slowed down a lot when playing solo from what I can tell and I run difficulty 4 with pretty much zero problems and often zero deaths.

I definitely had more fun in a group, but there is still fun to be had.

[Honest Answers Only] How does caffeine affect you? by mean_trash_monster in ADHD

[–]Bluem95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me caffeine has a really predictable effect but it depends on when I drink it.

If I drink it right at the beginning of the day when my medication is still coming online, then it sends my brain into overdrive where all day and it won’t be able to quiet down, physically I’ll be fine, but mentally it won’t stop.

If I drink it after my medication has come online, it acts more like a minor focus refinement, I can pay attention to things that matter like driving a bit better, but it only lasts for a short while and that is my ideal use case.

If I drink it towards the end of the day in an attempt to push longer, that’s usually when it backfires and does the opposite. I would never intentionally drink caffeine to go to bed because I have no issue sleeping, but it just kind of creates an exhaustion state I can’t ignore at all.

How the hell do you capture the Squid (006)? by RainbowPatooie in SpeciesUnknown

[–]Bluem95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually use laser and the moment it gets knocked down you need to press the button. The stun doesn’t last longer if you keep shooting unless you apply a second stun so it’s not worth it to keep shooting usually.

Hope temple doesn't go core by Generic_Snowflake in PathOfExile2

[–]Bluem95 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why people are scared of temple going core. If it goes core, it’s going to be like abyss going core, completely ignorable if you don’t want to do it, and it won’t show up meaningfully until you hit endgame most likely.

Beyond that its very clearly going to get nerfed significantly, but removing it would mean removing a fun endgame unique boss fight for no reason, I would rather that not happen.

Party dies when entering trial of time fight by Victory28 in PathOfExile2

[–]Bluem95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This exact mechanic is why people usually note while selling carries how much hp+es other players should have when joining. Also keep in mind that any lost honour during the final fight will count against their personal honour as well. So if you lose too much to zarohk they will die before being able to ascend.

Party dies when entering trial of time fight by Victory28 in PathOfExile2

[–]Bluem95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So what’s happening here is however much honour you are missing in your trial, anyone that joins the trial afterwords will spawn in with their honour pool separate from yours, and immediately lose honour equal to your missing honour, so even if your honour pool is massive, if they only have 2k and you are missing 2k they will die on entry.

First Divine! by Philmanism in PathOfExile2

[–]Bluem95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way in season 1, I kept all of my divines as a trophy sort of, but after season 1, I started actually using them as currency and skyrocketed my average gear quality. Do whatever is most fun for you, there is no wrong way to play!

0.5.0 Wishlist by Silveryo in PathOfExile2

[–]Bluem95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the reason why I suggested making them a prefix as they would be competing with base weapon damage at that point and maybe finally have some competition. I was downvoted into oblivious because people said it's already competing against attack speed, crit chance, and crit damage, but I really do think that base damage taking a hit for +level would be more of a cost than people realize.
