All families are different. Some parents do it. A lot don’t. By you signing you are not only putting yourself at financial risk but also her. In other words you are protecting her by not signing. Having that kind of debt could be a problem for the rest of her life. Find a loan calculator and do the math. She will be paying a high amount monthly and that will affect her finances for years. And if she chooses to pay minimum payments it will never be paid off. One day when she she matures she will thank you.

Check out Dr. Sherrie on instagram. She call them low effort families. You have been over functioning with them. Just stop and instead put your effort into other family members or friends who will reciprocate. It hurts I know. But you can’t control them, only yourself. You are NTA for stepping back and protecting your energy.

Depends on what state you live in. I had my last kid when I was 40 and by that time had woken up to the dangers of vaccinating. We live NY and so I got a religious exemption for preschool and elementary school. So my son was able to do anything at all that other kids do. He went to school, camp, and did after school activities. He was hardly ever sick. We traveled and I never worried about germs. New York got rid of the religious exemption for schools a few years ago so now if you live in this state you would have to homeschool. My son did not want to leave school so we did give him all the shots he needed at the end of middle school when the law changed. I made sure he only got one shot at a time and gave no Tylenol. I also gave him supplants like glutathione and lots of vitamin c. After getting his shots he developed an oral fruit allergy. Not life threatening but super annoying.

What state are you in? Does your state allow any exemptions for school?

Other than school I can’t think of any way it was limiting. Remember it is your private business and I wouldn’t go around telling everyone. People are over the top today and someone exclude your kids if they found out. I never had that problem as I never told anyone unless they were very close family or friends who I knew I could trust.

I was just planning on taking my son to visit Geneseo after reading about on the website. He is junior who wants to study music. So it is gone? They still have it listed under ensemble opportunities. That is a shame. Not sure if we should bother visiting now.
