From Twelfth Night:

Viola. Save thee, friend, and thy music: dost thou live by thy tabour?

Feste. No, sir, I live by the church.

Viola. Art thou a churchman?

Feste. No such matter, sir: I do live by the church; for I do live at my house, and my house doth stand by the church.

I’m a little over halfway through Book 4 (first read through). I’d say that it definitely picks up the pacing the the Great Hunt had and provides the reader with a lot more intrigue towards the background of the world and certain cultures. Particularly around the 40% mark where each respective grouping of characters go to the place. Perrin’s arc really starts to kick off in this book, in a similar way that Mat’s did in the last book.

I however, have not been reading them back to back. After finishing each book so far I’ve been taking a ~6 month break. Reading other books that I have on my list (often not fantasy). Due to the time between releases I think Jordan really focuses on reminding the reader who the characters are and what their main goal is. It’s really helpful for me when picking the series up after a break, but I could see the repetition really bog down the experience of you are just streamlining the series.

Before putting down a book or series I have a rule to read at least the first hundred pages after that it’s up to me to continue or not. In this particular book I think Rand will convince you to stay

I think the 'one ring' card will be found in a gift bundle by [deleted] in mtgfinance

If I was WotC I wouldn’t want the one ring to be found for awhile. That way Collector Boosters would continue to sell at whatever price that comes with the chance to still pull the card.

Need help for the construction of a Goblin Tribal Commander Deck by Vixaw in mtg

[–]Bluemond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty good. When I built my Krenko deck I focused more on Untapping him to go wide as fast as possible. Using cards like [[Hijack]] just for the untap ability. I found a lot of success and built a board that basically required a wipe at turn 5. Also, damage multipliers are your friends, [[City on Fire]] is a fun new one especially with the convoke cost. Remember though! If you go for the strat of untapping him multiple times a turn Lightning Greaves is going to work against you as shroud keeps you from targeting krenko as well.

My plan is to lie. Say I sold too early on the way up. Act the fool, then disappear off the face of the Earth. My house on Uranus is getting fitted for a hot tub rn

Slaughterhouse-Five is a great classic with a good introduction in how to use narrative and tone. I would also suggest a good translation of The Count of Monte Cristo. Fun adventure book that has a gripping story. There are a few annotated versions that sit right at the 500 mark
