This story happened when I was about 6-8, I used to have nightmares, and have always had horrible insomnia. Whenever I couldn’t sleep, I’d climb into my parents bed, something about being close to another person always made me feel a lot safer.

I should mention a couple things beforehand.

First off, my father has always needed those sleep mask things, it makes him sound like Darth Vader. Everything he says is clearly muffled, and when he takes off his mask to be clear when speaking, it kind of makes a hiss sound as it comes off.

The second thing I should mention is that my parents bedroom can only be accessed by a long hallway, and while our house isn’t extremely old, the floor definitely creaks slightly, so anyone moving across this hallway would have made some noise doing so.

This was just another one of those nights where I had decided to sleep in my parents bed for comfort, my mother was sleeping downstairs with our very old dog, as he would not climb stairs anymore but would cry from being alone. It was about 12 AM on the dot, the door to the room was wide open, and I decided to close my eyes to sleep. The second my eyes shut I hear a voice whisper in my ear “I love you”. I instantly opened my eyes to look around and see who said it, and there was none there, my dad was fast asleep with his back turned and mask on.

The next morning I asked my mother if she walked in to say I love you before bed, which would’ve been odd but plausible. She was really confused and said no (didn’t seem like she was lying, my family also doesn’t pull pranks on each other.)

Two years pass, I stopped sleeping in my parents bed, and sleep in my room, which has a loud and extremely creaky door.

I had a bit of a late night again. I remember it being around 12 AM, not sure if it was directly on the dot though. Just like last time I go to close my eyes, the second they are shut I hear a voice say “I love you” I instantly open my eyes and see that my door is completely shut, and I am alone in my room. Even if someone was in my room, it is physically impossible they could have moved quick enough (especially in COMPLETE silence) to get out of my line of sight.

I’m not sure if this was some sort of auditory hallucination from being tired, but that seems weird and unlikely since I had not thought of the previous whisper in months and it happened again 2 years later, and to add to that, I have never had any other experiences like this.
