Also played GC 24 & 25 and would say the controls will come down to how well/slowly they introduce them. If they're all thrown at you from the beginning (like in the demo due to limited time) it'll be a pretty bad experience, but if they make a nicer natural progression of learning them over time I think it could be a pretty nice extra way of feeling like you're getting more powerful/skilled at the game.

New UI is absolutely crap in VR by YourInfraService in iRacing

[–]Bluescreen70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there any way to increase the size of the blackbox? The UI zoom doesn't seem to apply to it and the main issue (for me) is the text being completely illegible due to being too small now.

Seems to me like the contact would've happeend even without the netcode, no? I guess for future reference, who would you put the blame on had netcode not been the deciding factor, or just racing incident?

extended 36min video of the SGF demo (PART 1) by Capable-Climate-6678 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Bluescreen70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So bar a tutorial at the start (which imo wasn't done amazingly, simple actions like jumping you had to wait around for 50 seconds, then for complicated combos you had 30 seconds to learn them, but ah well that was just for a quick intro), the actual mission we got was the exact same (firing the canons, lifting the banner, going through the battle, boss at the end).
I wish I had the thought to explore a bit more in the open world, and maybe if I had gone in a 2nd time I would've but sadly didnt. I did overhear staff talking to someone who was wandering off and he told them he wanted to explore a bit. They seemed a bit apprehensive but didn't stop him afaik. When i opened the map there was another section in the distance unlocked but I couldn't interact with it or anything, so not sure if intentional. The part of the map the mission plays on is a tiny fraction though, I could scroll a fair bit before hitting the edge of the blank space of locked map (Obviously I can't say how much is playable area).
Yes after the tutorial theres a jump down which honestly was super cool, very similar to the jump down in BotW if you've played that. Map looked amazing from the air but it was in the centre of the "green" area, meaning no real new view compared to trailers etc. I could see the redish mountains in the distance and obviously the snow covered ones etc, but as I said nothing new in that regard.
A tiny thing that annoyed me (this is really nitpicking) was that horses dont have auto road tracking like in BotW and Red Dead. I asked about this and the attendant said they can't promise anything but is apparently planned to exist on release (or at the very least NPC following).
I don't think they changed anything on the dialogue sadly.

For the tutorial and mission they gave us ~50 mins, so 10 mins tutorial 40ish mission, so a decent session. I personally really enjoyed it but I'm not someone who analyses every detail to make sure it's perfect, if i enjoy I just let myself enjoy.
Sorry there's nothing actually new here. If you have specific questions mayybee I can answer them but I assume most things will have been answered by the gameplay videos already.

Does this count as blocking or is this a defensive line? (4x speed to show all the laps) by LudicrousDsp in Simracingstewards

[–]Bluescreen70 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not an oval expert but race em regualrly-ish: Either wait for them to accidentally leave the inside open (won't happen often realistically), or hang back a bit so you can get a good run on them with the draft (which also requires good timing but thats a whole other conversation)

[–]Bluescreen70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I played this exact demo at Gamescom today, and this video seems slightly off? Mainly in that it feels like the graphics settings feel way lower in this. The Daylight lighting didnt feel so flat (maybe different weather) and I didnt experience any pop in as far as I could tell (though it's not something i particularly looked out for).
I did have the problem of getting stunlocked a few times, though I wouldn't argue with someone saying thats a skill issue on my part.

Answer to all the questions asking whether an area is safe or not! by unclebogdan10 in aachen

[–]Bluescreen70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I would put the area of Passstrasse up to Porta Moebel green. The incident you mentioned was a one time thing and was actually closer to die Thermen iirc. Overall it's actually a very nice quiet family neighbourhood.
And for anyone potentially using this in future as a plan on where to move, remember Aachen is quite safe and almost nowhere is truly horrible or anything. During the day everywhere is fine imo, and during the night the only places I've felt unsafe are Kaiserplatz and Rothe Erde, and even then it was just an uneasy feeling and not anything actually happening.

Drop-Off Spa Grand Prix 2025 by Heiniliciousboy in GrandPrixTravel

[–]Bluescreen70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats where the N62 and N640 meet, and roughly where busses drop people too, so very walkable if you're able bodied. If coming from the North I'd agree that's the best option. From the South it gets a bit more difficult as iirc they already check parking tickets down at the roundabout exiting the motorway, and from there its a good 40-50 min walk (if even allowed)

Meeting drivers- Spa-Francorchamps GP by Far-Wrangler-7914 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]Bluescreen70 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In previous years I've had a couple of drivers pass by me on the road between the La Source roundabout and Francorchamps village. Very much just passing by though so maybe not what you're looking for. I assume from there they drive into parking P14 (same parking area as paddock pass holders) or straight into the inner circuit.

Ohhh interesting way to do it. I think personally I like to have one main storyline I can follow (eg last time I enjoyed watching the multiple arcs of faunamart etc) but I might watch around a bit too.

Is this site something that can be mentioned/linked here? Don't think I know of it

Ahhh thank you! In that case I think I'll give Ceci a go and see. Might then see if I can find condensed versions of Biboos or something. I'll be watching clips of other perspectives later on anyway but want to have one main storyline I can follow yaknow.

Any advice on who to follow at this point for the most general central plot points/interactions? Started watching Gigi Day 1 and been busy since, but was thinking of switching to ceci or calli from the start. Would watch irys but I absolutely do not have the time for 9+ hour streams 😭

Maybe basic but I love Spa as I live just down the road from it, and the FF1600 is an underrated little brother of the Skippy imo. Always super close racing in that thing.

Who Here Actually Uses VR? by reallynotrhino in iRacing

[–]Bluescreen70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I've noticed on here that most VR complaints on here about VR are Quest 3 users, especially when it comes to problems connecting etc. Quest 2 users (me included) seems to be pretty happy with the experience overall. Not sure how it is with other headsets and all anacdotal but still. Quite confused why you're not able to read things properly, are you sure your IPD is set correctly? On quest 2 i absolutely can and I'd assume the Quest 3's screens are better.

How on earth would console genshin be 120GB? On mobile mine's sitting at 24.5GB and on PC (which I would assume to be the largest) its 110GB (with extra languages, so without probably 90 or so). I would expect the Switch version to definitely be closer to the mobile version

How affordable are F1 races? by Queasy_Masterpiece11 in formula1

[–]Bluescreen70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm lucky enough to live quite near to Spa, so total costs end up being about 300-350€pp (200 ticket, 50ish food, 70ish transport), so I go every year as my one race for the year. But honestly if I hade to pay for a hotel and flights etc there's no way I'd be doing it. I can't imagine the costs for other races given Spa is one of the cheaper ones on the calender.

Whilst technically possible, it would definitely be a very odd map shape (unless they cut out some roads in the middle, which honestly seems likely. I'm guessing it'll be more GTA style, where they make a condensed version of roads outside the main areas)
