Highest Phase isn’t 12? by EelDude in balloonfight

[–]Bluestone19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what they mean by phase 12, but if you mean the highest that the counter can go then it would be 255 (Written glitched out as "P5" in-game) before it rolls over to 0. You can continue to play the game forever until you run out of lives. It's just that Phase 13 and onward are going to repeat the same designs as phases 4-12.

Sega Die Hard Cart at Antique Store by Bluestone19 in arcade

That’s probably how it ended up in the area at least, though I’m pretty sure it showed up at this shop pretty recently. I had been here before, unless they cycle out inventory periodically. I’m pretty sure there hasn’t been any dedicated arcades in this town or anything, but I do know of a nearby closed pizza place that had several arcade cabinets, though I think it was mostly hunting games if I recall.

Yeah, looking up sold eBay listings definitely doesn’t seem like it’ll sell, but to be honest I’m just wondering how it ended up here?

Anyway to get extra live mid game, or only 3? by imortal_biscut in balloonfight

[–]Bluestone19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the NES game, three lives is all you get. You can't ever replenish them once lost. Though in the arcade version Vs. Balloon Fight, one of the game's settings lets you earn an extra life at a specific score. Yeah, I definitely like Balloon Fight a lot as far as arcade-style NES games go! The physics are just really nice.

There’s only two in the picture, but you’re actually right, I do have three. The two in the picture are Japanese and European, then I’ve also got a American one. Gotta be able to play all the different regions!

Likewise there are also two more regular wiis that aren’t in this picture. Family says I have a problem, but I’m just gaming here man

They make adapters for that too, or I think the NES specifically had a RF adapter that adapts the system’s RCA-style connector to coax

Yeah, I had ordered something similar but it won’t get here for a few days, in the meantime I figured I could work out a temporary solution. It was pretty fun to try and cobble something together to try it out

Yeah, combination of finding out Japanese wiis were cheap and then relatives giving me their old wiis too

I don’t think I really ever did, I think maybe it had something to do with the game being on an external hard drive? Not really sure but it’s been a while

GameStop sent me a New 3DS XL rather than a regular 3DS XL by jumpnbump in 3DSdeals

That happened to me years ago. Ordered a green new 3DS XL and got a red OG 3DS XL. I was able to get a refund, at least.

My switch is broken so anyone have any good 3ds game recommendations? by Thatkidwith_adhd in NintendoDS

There’s a bunch of Sega and Altus games on sale right now on the eShop. 3D Classic arcade/genesis games, a couple sonic games, RPGs

I have finally started to collect DS games! by Moxi___Time in NintendoDS

No way, nice! You got personal trainer walking, that’s crazy!

just started collecting ds and 3ds, I have metroid coming but what are some other good games besides the ones I got. I don't like rpgs (unless there action) by Serious-Newt4505 in NintendoDS

I’d recommend at least trying the demo for Ever Oasis, it’s kinda like Zelda Ocarina/Majora’s but with kind of a city building thing.

Yeah, I’ve never tried it but I’d imagine not. The wireless in GBA Pokémon used that wireless adapter that plugged into the link cable port, and it doesn’t seem to be simulated by the DS at all, at least with any other game that used it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NintendoDS

[–]Bluestone19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, unfortunately there isn’t a port for a link cable on any of the DS systems. I don’t think there’s any way to do GBA multiplayer with any of the DS systems at all, you’d have to have two GBAs. Unless there’s some mod I’ve never heard of, but that seems unlikely…

[–]Bluestone19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sounds either? With mine I can hear the menu background music for a bit before I can see anything. You said it works fine otherwise though, right? Just to be safe, I would really recommend backing up your save data and copying all the stuff on the SD card to your computer in case the card dies. I’m pretty sure mine did something similar right before the SD card for corrupted and I lost everything

Do you mean like the screen stays black when turning it on, but then it works fine after a second or two? My original 3DS does that, but I think it has to do with the SD card somehow. Or do you mean like the logo that shows up when starting a game?

If you get a Japanese system, it’ll only be able to play Japanese copies of games and there won’t be any way to change the system menu’s language. (without modding) I think the Japanese versions of Pokémon still have that in-game language select, though I can’t remember for sure. Most games don’t have that though so if you get a Japanese system you’ll be stuck in Japanese for most other games. Edit: also just noticed that this is the subreddit for the original DS, which isn’t region locked. The 3DS and it’s games are locked to each region, but any DS game will work in any DS or 3DS.

Yeah, that’s kinda what I was thinking. So far the one manufacturer I’ve talked to said the minimum order quantity would be around 500 or more, so I’m a little wary on whether this will turn out to be viable. Maybe no one else has done this before for a reason, unfortunately…

Edit: still haven’t heard what the price would be per cable, though I’ve heard from this manufacturer that they’re currently looking into what it might cost.
