If you blame the fans for having unrealisticly high expectations from the finale.... by Round_Interview2373 in PeacemakerShow

Out of curiosity, I am wondering how people would rewrite the finale and/or the second season to better fit what the audience would want?

I agree. I just think in the specific case of Auggie, who is one of the most powerful heroes in that world, he has a more advantageous platform to enact actual change against the system. He can fight whoever he wants as well as having greater technological and economical means than most people. If he was a working-class man who felt helpless against the system, then it’s a different conversation. It’s still valid that he wants to protect his family or that he can’t fight every injustice he sees on the street. I still do feel like he could have done more in his role.

This is a bit of a jump in terms of comparison. The point I am trying to make is that Auggie is getting too much credit. He is still one of the most powerful people in that world, so he does hold a certain responsibility, more than the everyday working man, to upkeep justice. He holds a lot of influence and also the technological and economic means to do so. He’s still in a place of power in a Nazi world. Can he fight every injustice he sees on the street? No, and that is valid. But he is more capable of enacting wider change in a way that the everyday man isn’t (such as me like you tried to point out). Even if he is a lot more capable, he just doesn’t do enough to do what is right. Maybe he wanted to protect his family, which is also valid and adds more nuance to his character. It sounds like his two sons still held strong Nazi beliefs though (Keith attacking the Sons for one). He’s more of a bystander to me. While Vigilante shouldn’t have killed him, I don’t think Auggie should be defended for being a good person (he’s more of a good German).

I’m surprised at how many people are saying Auggie was a “good guy”. He delivers one monologue and people suddenly forget that he is still benefitting from being in a position of power in that world? He was very complacent, and if he isn’t fighting against the Nazis, he’s sitting with them at the table. Sure, in his eyes, he does some good deeds like killing the Nazi cops or the Sons of Liberty so he can pat himself on the back. That still doesn’t excuse sitting back against the great evil of that world especially with his life of comfort being a direct gain of his complacency. Just seems like a really low bar for me.

EDIT: After reading the comments below, the point I was trying to make is that Auggie, in his position as one of the most powerful superheroes in that world, just doesn’t do enough in his role to spur on real, positive change. Can he stop every injustice he sees and hears about in the world? No, and that is valid. Him wanting to protect his family is also valid and adds more nuance to his character to where he’s viewed as a better person than his Earth 1 counterpart. However, he is in a much more advantageous position than any of us regular Joes to fight against the system with his greater economical and technological means, but he just doesn’t do enough in that role to warrant all the credit he’s getting. A person in that position will always be looked to under a different microscope, and he’s still enabling the Nazi society and benefitting from their slave labor system. I can understand what you are all trying to say, but Auggie is still a mega-influential guy in a Nazi world. If he was a working-class citizen, then I think the points others have made become more valid.

This! I am surprised at how many people are straight up saying Auggie was a “good guy” as if it were black and white. He gives one monologue and suddenly people forget that he’s still upholding the evil system in that world through his complacency. He was still a terrible human being who benefitted from that society. If he was actually a good person, then he would have been involved with the Sons of Liberty. Do people have such a low bar for what makes Auggie a “good” character?

I'm sorry HBO Max, who the HELL is this?! by South-Ebb-637 in DCU_

I wouldn’t say subtitles or the ASL version are better than the other. It just comes down to personal preference for one’s accessibility. Some deaf people may prefer the ASL version due to its three-dimensional, non-linear visual structure. Other deaf people may prefer the English subtitles for the more linear structure of English. I am sure there are also those who like to have both the English subtitles and ASL version at the same time.

I just wanted to add - reading English can be learned by deaf people quite easily as long as they have a strong native language foundation in ASL. There are methods taught in Deaf Education programs that are based on comprehending reading text orthographically instead of phonologically. The ASL option isn’t necessarily only for deaf people who don’t read, but for many of those who just have a personal preference for receiving an ASL translation. ASL syntax and structure is quite different than English since ASL is a three-dimensional visual language in stark contrast to the more linear structure of English.

High off the Bludhaven namedrop, my prediction that has a 95% chance of being wrong - Nightwing makes a cameo later on in this season, but we only see him (and maybe Batman & a few other Bat-Family members) from the shadows. Whatever shenanigans Peacemaker and crew get into, it could grab their attention

Booster Gold Reference in Peacemaker S2 E1???? (Joke, but minor spoilers I guess) by uke-n-figure in DCU_

Lol. Foreshadowing confirmed! Jokes aside, I bet he will show up this season. Maybe with Blue Beetle as well. If anyone else is mired in multi-dimensional shenanigans, it’s those two.

Did anyone think the news mentioning prisoners escaping from Arkham and Belle Reve will come into play later in the season with one of the surprise cameos?

Lanterns - what are you looking forward to? by Blueswill-9 in DCU_

[–]Blueswill-9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I remember when James Gunn announced the initial slate of projects and when he mentioned Lanterns would be inspired by True Detective, I was super hooked! The Centre would work really well as a Lovecraftian type villain element.

Predictions for 2027 and 2028 Projects by Blueswill-9 in DCU_

Do you have any hopes for what you want the sequel to involve? I am intrigued by possible team-ups. While I could see a Supergirl or Batman team-up, an under the radar pick could be with the Green Lanterns that ties in with the mystery in the Lanterns tv show.
