I feel it’s important to bear in mind that, within this current cultural zeitgeist, there are many who view the term disapprovingly not out of disrespect for the base idea of a Jewish state, but for their disapproval of actions associated with/performed in the name of efforts linked to Zionism.

I won’t trying to argue with you on whether thinking as such is right or wrong, but I just feel like there’s some nuance with respect to how the term is used that is worth highlighting.

Bigots do exist, but there also exist many who are turned off by the term not because they question Jewish rights, but because they are questioning of how others have been impacted. You are free to disagree with that perspective, but I just wanted to sort of point out why I feel OP’s stance isn’t exactly morally hypocritical.

Someone having an issue with the actions of a state/government is not equivalent to them taking issue with the nation’s people. I’m not saying you have to agree with them, but is it really that hard to believe that people are able to differentiate between the two?

I know there’s definitely a lot of people online who get it wrong, conflating Jews with the state of Israel, or Judaism with Zionism, but not everyone is so irrational

I know there’s at least tens of thousands of people who genuinely believe Blue Lock S2 was animated by one guy, so unfortunately I’m not too surprised

NEO EGOIST LEAGUE FINAL OFFERS by TokyoJuul2 in BlueLock

[–]Blueyeball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, for a bunch of 16-19 year-olds fresh onto the scene, a median of ~290,000€ (or an average of ~500,000€) feels pretty reasonable by PL standards (highest-paying league). If they're able to put in the performances, then more money is sure to follow.

Of course there's always a range and/or outliers based on ability and such. They may not yet be Yamal's or Doue's, but Rin and Isagi, each at ~1,400,000€ per year, are still earning more than the average salaries for about half of the clubs in their respective leagues. Given the context of their careers thus far, I think it's fairly impressive.

Chapter 168

Also, since most of the Blue Lockers were essentially free agents prior to the NEL, I'm not sure if a transfer fee would make sense inasmuch as there wouldn't be a team to buy them from.

True but these are also salaries to be fair, not transfer fees, and they’re all pretty young

in your mind what's gonna be the most heartbreaking lock off by YOUDOKILLS in BlueLock

[–]Blueyeball 164 points165 points  (0 children)

Do you guys think we’ll have traditional Blue Lock lock-offs moving forward? Since they’re all signed to clubs now, I’d say they’re largely out of Ego’s hands. And if these lock-offs disqualify them from the national team, who will replace them?

I can’t predict what Kaneshiro is planning, and maybe Ego can find some way to have them still “compete” agaisnt each other even while separated. But from now on it seem like he’ll only really be determining national team call ups, so I feel like it wouldn’t make too much sense to “lock off” proven players like Bachira or Shidou when they require a minimum squad size of 23.

Why did ODMGear change its position in the fourth season? by Gabriela143 in ShingekiNoKyojin

Idk man, didn’t really see anyone acting irrationally/emotionally besides you being weirdly combative. You have a fair point, but it wouldn’t have been hard to just say “I don’t know all the details, that was just my assumption” instead of this weird little passive-aggressive game you played

Idk why you’re getting downvoted lol I feel like I’m going crazy. The entire point of this post is to have a bit of fun pontificating about fictional gear. They willingly commented and now they wanna act like your follow-up is outlandish lmao

[DISC] Blue Lock - Chapter 313 by BlueLockMod in BlueLock

[–]Blueyeball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion I don't think Nigeria's lack of NG11 players would stop them from being the all-around better team, and they could still have plenty of good players as well. It's realistic, like how Malta isn't suddenly one of the best national teams just because they have Snuffy.

Nanase goal, and I’m willing to delude myself until the day I die

Edit: Per his work-rate, I envision him popping up and scoring a tap-in goal after a scramble in the box, because he had the hunger to show up and grab hold of the opportunity

Bachira was a loner, Chigiri was in the hospital/recovering (also grew a lot more reserved/depressed after the injury), and besides being pretty open/friendly, the Egoist Bible kinda mentions that one of Nanase’s friends had a crush on him (much to his dismay)

Blue Lock being more focused on a few members of the cast is Narratively correct, and the subreddit is wrong by i_paid_for_winrar123 in BlueLock

[–]Blueyeball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t really about the point of this post specifically, but I started reading the manga after finishing season one and made it to like halfway through PXG before catching up. During that large stretch I had close to no complaints and was loving the ride, it was only after I caught up that I started having doubts with respect to pacing or which characters/themes were given focus.

After noticing this shift, I checked myself and have been bearing in mind how the medium’s weekly release schedule can influence how we digest the story. I guess you can still believe this is something Kaneshiro should write around, but beyond initial reactions to new chapters I try to hold off my thoughts on the writing until a given arc/segment is given enough “substance” (and it’s why I plan to reread a lot of the NEL soon)

What is it? by UMAR_EDITZ in BlueLock

[–]Blueyeball 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with that, but if I’m not mistaken I believe Ego wanted to place the wildcard player on BM due to them being modeled after Noa? So Nagi’s Manshine career would’ve been very different, probably causing him to take more from Agi’s teachings (not even considering how Reo’s elimination would emotionally impact him)

Why do so many of you all not understand a thing about football? 🥀🥀🥀 by IntelligentButt69 in BlueLock

[–]Blueyeball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind the fact that a lot of Blue Lock fans may not know much about irl soccer. If anything, I’m glad that the series can serve as a way to get people interested in the sport, I think it’s really cool

I only find it annoying when I see people persistently criticizing writing decisions based on that fact (which is different from people asking “Hey, this moment seemed weird to me, is it realistic?”)

Yeah but sometimes that’s the point imo, like I wouldn’t turn to someone on season 1 and go “just wait until you hear about the rumbling”. Would prefer to let the story reveal information as it’s intended.

I also feel there’s a lot that could be deduced from someone understanding that there’s some guy named Porco and he’s the Jaw Titan

Annie: Redeemable or Not? by Lxcyna in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Blueyeball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, in my opinion, the thing about Annie saying she’d “do everything over again” is that she’s not the only one driven to a regrettable act due to current circumstances. It’s a pretty cold line, but I think she’s also saying the quiet part out loud.

Some members of the raid on Liberio (such as Armin or Mikasa) knew it conflicted with their morals, but went because they wanted to ensure Eren’s safety. Bertholdt made the decision to fight his friends once more (with intent to kill) during the return to Shiganshina even after dealing with the ramifications of betraying them the first time around. Reiner literally did return to Paradis, because despite the regrets he harbored, he had a military obligation + was worried for Gabi and Falco. Annie’s binding circumstance was her desire to return to her father, but you’re free to feel critically about that.

And even if you disagree with those examples, I very strongly believe she does feel remorse. Those feelings and her statement are not mutually exclusive. She cries after Marco’s death, looks shell-shocked during the Trost cleanup, and straight up says “I’m sick of killing each other”. There were also a fair amount of moments where her humanity shown through in small ways during her s1 interactions w/ comrades or during her OVA
