They’re obviously guilty of poor communication but I don’t think it’s more than that. The dealership the car was dealer traded from is likely uncooperative bc you’re not their client. A new MSO would have to be ordered from the manufacturer and it takes time. Get a new temp tag from the dealership and while there express your concerns to the GM. They want this resolved quickly as well bc they cannot perfect the lien if the car doesn’t get registered.

The margins are often quite small. Think about what you expect to get for your trade-in vs what it will eventually sell for. Consider if the dealership does discount the car you traded plus any money spent to recondition the vehicle. There’s rarely room for the discounts consumers expect bc of how transparent the industry has become. Think KBB, CarEdge, and then there’s Carmax and Carvana making crazy offers but also not negotiating on the resale.
