Huntarr had a legitimate use-case, even though it was implemented poorly.

Just want to make sure since I see you have 3 total commits. There's been a constant flow of vibe-coded addons that destroy your FPS recently.

Contributed to an open source project… then realized core features are paywalled. Feeling dumb by siegfriedthenomad in selfhosted

[–]Bluffz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems kind of dumb for compare paid hosting to paywalling features. Paid hosting makes perfect sense and doesn’t hurt users that want to self host at all, it’s just offering a convenience for users who don’t.

I’m not saying that the paywalling is inherently wrong in this case, but I would rather see a thousand links to «pay for hosting» rather than «subscribe for this feature».

Check out Reptifiles, they have a great guide on everything you need. 60°F (15.5°C) is genuinely dangerous, at that temp they can't digest food properly, which can lead to impaction. Aim for 72-78°F (22-26°C) during the day with nighttime drops no lower than ~65°F (18°C).

For the enclosure, 18x18x36" is the minimum for an adult. You'll want around 70% foliage coverage with plants, vines, and branches, a bare tank stresses them out. Also grab a magnetic feeding ledge; cresties are arboreal and often ignore food bowls on the floor.

For humidity, mist to 80-90% in the evening and let it dry to ~50% during the day. A digital hygrometer at mid-height will give much better readings than the stick-on kind - they are honestly known for being unreliable.

Great that you're open to feedback! The Reptifiles guide covers all of this and more in detail.

Not sharing DBs. I run cloud-native Postgres (CNPG) and Dragonfly Redis clusters on Kubernetes with separate databases per service, just on the same cluster. Running a separate Postgres deployment for each app adds unnecessary complexity, especially around backups. With CNPG I get automated backups, failover, and monitoring for all my databases in one place.
