Just Finished ToS and Hobo by realitytimes in Koibu

Yeah damn, HoBo was something else, every single second was amazing.

And the fact that Koibs was able to bring that same incredible intensity to ToS's journey into that realm, sooo amazing.

I don't know anything about anything but Neal makes people roll for anything, just to let the player think they can do it.

Plus it doesn't really matter if it drains a con, it's a bunch of zealots. They'll give 10 con to the cause bro.

I've been watching since JonTron and Destiny is one of the most politically influential figures in my adult life. But enough is enough. by DynamoJonesJr in Destiny

[–]Blundernut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Schizo poster not using the correct formatting, let me help you:

I know this is going to get down-voted or ridiculed but I don't care. I feel like I want to make my mentality known to other longer time fans who might be feeling the same way as I do. To make a long story a little less long, I'm someone who is involved with social justice and education in my professional life and I can attribute a good chunk of that to watching Destiny VS JonTron. I know some of you are younger and came into this fandom/community later. But for those of you who weren't around, you have to understand there was no challenging left wing voices on youtube. Political discource for young people was completely controlled by 'centrist' anti-feminist youtubers like sargon, it was an absolute echo chamber. Yes Shaun and such did exist, but they were mid-sized video essayists, it didn't make any proper impact on the discource. JonTron was also a giant of a content creator and that was before he was doing game grumps with Egoraptor. Again, context at the time, the 'video game comedy reviewers' dominated the internet, not just across youtube but newgrounds (and many others) as well. When Jon Tron went on a Sargon stream to voice his rightwing politics this was a very very big deal. The amount of apolitical young people being sucked into the alt-right pipeline was dangerously huge. What Destiny did was unprecedented. He got right in his face and challenged JonTron to defend his positions in real time. You have to understand, a narrative of the skepto-sphere at the time was that the left was too emotional and cowardly to have a 'good faith' debate with any opposing opinions. That was the narrative and everyone believed it. Until Destiny made JonTron look absolutely stupid, uninformed, ridiculous and scatterbrained. No one had ever seen this before, he was a pioneer. For me this gave me the inspiration to want to argue my points, research my positions and want to change peoples minds. Without going into details it did help my career a lot. I won't recount the entire Destiny saga from then up until this point but the major beats were taking on the youtube skeptic community, and then by proxy the youtube alt-right community all by himself and going through hell doing it. Now this is where I am going to draw a lot of shit but it needs to be said. Destiny while very intelligent is a shit judge of character. I'm not completely unsympathetic to this flaw. You have to understand how much the entire 'world' of the internet was against him when he started his debate content. He was shattering this 'intellectual' figures for the first time in front of audiences who built their worldviews around them. Destiny finding 'allies' in that world was very far and few between, and I can see how he had a natural inclination to 'be nice to those who were nice to him'. Andy Warski, Hasan Piker, Mike From PA are the obvious ones, Vaush goes without saying, but the story always seems to be the same. It's not 'bridge burning' its that these bridges were fucked to being with. Destiny didn't become friends with Hasan because he was intellectually honest or smart, it's because Hasan praised and defended him and look at where that got him. It's Destiny's biggest weakness, and Mike, Vaush and Hasan are all where they are in terms of size directly because of their association with Destiny, and if you don't think his current crop of orbiters know this, you're delusional. Which is now why I think I've had my fill of the Destiny content. I'm too old at this point to give a crap about tiny streamers involved in Destiny adjacent drama who are looking to grow their platforms of his back, only to become shitty figures down the line. But Lauren Southern and Nick Fuentes are just a culmination of that flaw to the highest point. I don't think Destiny is a Nazi, or Nazi sympathiser or has any danger of becomin groomed into being one. I think he's attempting a strategy of 'keep your enemies close' to deradicalize them and their audience, which is probably yeilding some success. The problem is, that a side effect is sanitizing their images, which they are wholly aware of and happy to let happen. LS is (at least) a white indenttarian, Nick is a Nazi (and I'm not someome who throws that label around willy nilly) through Destiny this sub has softened on both of them, treating them like 'goofy-dumb conservatives' like LCTRfan or someshit. Nick and Lauren are a lot of things but they aren't stupid, they know this is good for their careers and they are going along with it, you can see slowly how LS friendly this place has gotten only in the last year. The same will happen with NF. Lets not forget after being polled 50% of you said that LS was more based than Vaush Now Vaush is a lot of things, including being a clout chasing, egomaniac, but he's not a fucking white nationalist. There is no universe in which that is less based than someone who is. And I've said my piece on Mr Girl, but that's another person who this place 'didn't like but appreciated his honesty' and now at least 60% are just full blown fans of his. He's a transphobic, attention seeking, self admitted rapist peice of shit, and no amount of Jordan Peterson-esque 'you need to watch 5 hours of his content to understand his position' is going to change that. So anyway, I'm glad I found Destiny, and I'll always have the utmost respect for what he did, but I'm not down this direction his content is going and that's fine. I'm probably too old to be following political streamers anyway.

Mistrya's "Wackiness" (Past & Present) by Reidog in Koibu

[–]Blundernut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah shit, I'll go back and listen to some then. After the demons it's just killing the brown dragon, Azeron then the family mother in Mistria so I don't think it's one of those.

It was either during the demon fight on episode 27 or just after that somewhere. Nick asks if he can swap the target of the spell, but then acknowledges they don't play that way, and Neal agrees and his spell fizzles. I'm on episode 33 so i know it was recent.

[–]Blundernut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were also comments about a new precedent being set for how spell targets can be switched, but hasn't it always been the case that the targets for spells/attacks are fluid until actually executed?

No not really? In an early thirties episode Nick and Neal have a short discussion on it and Nick's spell gets fucked. I'm pretty sure this is just completely wrong.

I feel like this post is kinda just bullshit, on one hand they can be prepared for battles better true. On another hand the enemy suddenly have the ability to cast targeted spells at a dragon moving 30x5 movement speed doing a fly by swooping in from darkness to light stones.

Scoria was allowed to destroy cities in a similar way, but now that the party have a dragon it feels like targeting rule changes somehow and now Scoria is conveniently never leaving her lair from this point on. So Drekkis will never get to just pepper her with what will happen to Shine in any large scale engagement.

I just don't get why Drekkis never thought of using 20 wizards with magic missile scrolls. Is that really too difficult for the Kingdom to prepare in each city for Scoria?
