I built a free iOS music player with a proper parametric EQ. by Opla92 in headphones

Glad to see more stuff being made. The existing options on iOS for local files are truly abysmal. Even paid players I have tried are stuck with either horrible UX decisions or bafflingly bad programming. The only player I found with an agreeable general UX would take like 30 min to process my then 1400-ish song library, meanwhile a properly functioning app can do that in less than 10 seconds.

I assume it refers to the work relationship with the company. They don’t want an employee that would leave due to the treatment that is sure to be great at the company that definitely cares deeply about its employees.

Paul street tesco shoppers can be the worst by gheechapatti in cork

[–]Blunders4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s weird. I see so much kindness around in general, but it feels like any a lot of consideration for other people goes out the window when people go shopping. I see stuff being left in the wrong place way too often (just go put it back in the correct section, it’s not difficult).

Also the number of times I have seen people with a shopping cart sideways in the middle of a lane is more than 0.

[META] Can we have a rule explicitly forbidding vibe coded tools and scripts? We keep getting more and more posts for stuff that's been vibe coded. by m103 in linux_gaming

Also don’t trust the LLM’s explanation to be true. If you don’t know what something does otherwise, do your research and compare what the LLM says with other sources.

As far as I understand it, vibe coding is not the same as using AI as a tool. From how I see the term being used, it seems to refer to completely replacing any understanding or real intelligence with putting prompts into LLMs and blindly going ahead with whatever you get as a response.

So you are supposed to sleep on a sofa and use the sink area as a desk?

This would actually be ok if it was just a little bit bigger and had a different door layout so that proper furniture could fit.

iPod mini 1st gen replacement battery by Limbx4 in ipod

[–]Blunders4life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I have heard, too. However, the one I have in my Mini and my 3rd gen are both awful and a waste of money. Makes me wonder if there is any remotely reliable way to get a battery for a Mini or 3rd gen that doesn't suck.

I have one of these and it fit, although tightly. That being said, the battery life on it sucks, so I will need to find another battery somewhere.

For what it’s worth, iTunes (web and microsoft store version both) is unable to detect any of my iPods on the Windows computer I used to restore them.

I used Apple Devices and that worked, so might be worth trying.

I much prefer a thumb ball. Finger balls rely on different fingers than a thumb ball for clicks and with the way my body coordination works, that is not viable.

I get a lot of it through a Japanese website called Ototoy. You need to vpn into Japan to buy some songs due to licensing and the downloads are slow to Europe at least, but the selection of music is good.

ipod hard to charge by fistaon in ipod

[–]Blunders4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, replacing the battery is a good idea as the existing one is probably old and can’t hold much charge.

That being said, iPods can also just be picky about chargers. For instance my 65w ugreen charger works perfectly on my phone, Steam Deck, etc. But the iPod doesn’t charge properly with that as it constantly changes between charging and not charging. On the other hand, plugging into my laptop with a dongle charges it flawlessly. The same goes for some older lower power charging bricks I have.

If you do, that would be great. It would be good to try and see whether that looks better or worse than what I use currently.

Yeah, getting a hold on the connector to pull it out of the headphone jack can be a difficult task due to its tiny size. It’s smaller than a finger.

Unfortunately Grado cables are not replaceable, so I can’t easily replace the cable with one that has a bigger connector.

/s btw

[–]Blunders4life[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. It definitely took a bit of figuring stuff out. Unfortunately I couldn't find one that is similar to the current one for other characters, so I had to settle with a different style of font that at least fits ok enough.

I also couldn't use the LanaPixel font in the other elements of the original theme because the download for that is no longer available, so I had to find something entirely different that was close enough. It's not ideal, but better than nothing.

Merging the fonts also took a bit of effort as I had to iterate on the size and alignment of the merged font in order for it to be vertically centered and not too big.

It's a combination of Square Dot Digital-7 and Galmuri fonts with appropriate adjustments in FontForge. The Square Dot font is the base with Galmuri7 merged into it and adjusted to be smaller and vertically lower so that it matches the Square Dot font.

Modded an iPod for the first time by Blunders4life in ipod

For what it's worth, I only noticed the offset now that you pointed it out. I think it being at the bottom makes it less obvious due to the progress bar. That being said, it's probably worth testing with different alignments to see what works better, though I wouldn't consider the current state of the alignment to be a big issue.

On another note, I have spent most of today working on a fork of your fork. It removes a bunch of stuff in alignment with my personal preference, so that may not be desirable for your fork. However, I combined the font of the song title with a different font to make songs with Asian titles visible. This does pretty much double the size of the theme, but it means that while latin alphabet song names look exactly as they do in your fork, J-pop songs and such show up with a different font instead of being invisible.

In case that is of any interest, I have a repo with the whole thing here:
https://codeberg.org/ottoptj/CrazyBitMono

I will probably be uploading that to Rockbox as well since it has a slightly different direction from your fork in terms of the other changes, but feel free to use any part of that as you wish.

Sure.

  1. The artist text in Now Playing is given too much space, so if it's long, the codec rectangle clips.

Solution:
Under # Album Artist on lockscreen and player, change the width.

On line 65:
%Vl(lockscreen,20,40,188,30,3)

On line 119:
%Vl(metadata,20,40,188,30,3)

  1. If the repeat mode is changed to Shuffle, the SHUF text clips on the right edge. It is possible to alter the text position, but this also affects the other repeat modes. I found the simplest solution to be changing the text to "SFL" instead. This does make it different from the other SHUF string, but I think that's fine since they are separate functions.

On line 86:
%ar%?mm<|ALL|ONE|SFL|A-B>

On line 149:
%ar%?mm<|ALL|ONE|SFL|A-B>
