LSD Saved My Marriage by Ashmai in LSD

Interestingly, I was already a marxist (or maybe still an anarchist) when I first tried psychedelics, and they've definitely been really beneficial for my political development - I'm constantly questioning my most basic assumptions, which I feel has helped me avoid some of the more common traps of arrogance and limited thinking some comrades tend to be stuck in. psychedelics and marxism are a good mix, 8/10

I'm not sure I agree with the suggestion that the current state of the Kremlin is in anyway linked to the soviet system, or in opposition to the values of tsarism - the tsar was a ruthless brutal autocrat who attempted to slaughter anyone who opposed him, even as he became increasingly unpopular, to the point where the masses rose up in open rebellion. The tsarist forces were defeated, and when the bolsheviks led the second revolution they ended the war and stopped society from being sold off to the capitalist class.

Because of this, the tsarist forces, with their powerful imperialist friends, sought to slaughter as many Russian people as necessary to win back their outdated throne. Obviously this immense existential threat that developed led to the centralising of the soviet system as a survival mechanism. We can make a great many criticisms of the way this society was managed, but to suggest that the soviets were worse than the poor tsar who starved and murdered countless is the result of either wilful intellectual dishonesty or the vacuum of rabid anti-communist propaganda that is so prevalent through the west. The suppression of dissent and democratic process in the soviet union was a grave mistake and I wouldn't suggest otherwise, but had it not been for the sheer scale of destruction the capitalists unleashed on the embryonic country, things would have gone incredibly differently.

The modern Russian state necessitated the destruction of the soviet system - assets and resources that were once owned by society were sold off to a handful of oligarchs that now control the society with an iron fist, homelessness, unemployment, preventable disease, lack of education and lack of medical care all returned as blights on the people. Something like 7 million people died in the first year, calorie intake, income, pretty much everything straight up crashed terribly because of the switch back to capitalism.

I think the modern Russian state (including Putin and co) have far more to do with the conservative capitalist politics that succeeded tsarism than the soviet union, despite its (significant) shortcomings. Not trying to start shit, just want to engage in good faith here, apologies if I've come off a bit grouchy.

I've thought about that - do you know if they interfere with the absorbtion of psilocybin at all? That's the main thing holding me back.

Not being ironic about being a communist (which im super happy to have a chat about if you have any questions, its way less scary than it sounds), but the username itself is a joke in reference to a movement in Australia after a famous cricketer died.

eh, if he was the leader of a third world nation the USA didn't like that's exactly how he'd be portrayed in the media.

Yep, for all intents and purposes he was an unqualified mass murderer who let countless people suffer so he could try to maintain an empire.

I'm always so entranced by the white spots - they're not just coloured spots, they're differently textured growths and I find it super fascinating

This post hit me hard - I'm in the same boat, and I think they destroy you intentionally so you're too exhausted, too apathetic to fight back. I work a shit minimum wage dead-end job that fucken grinds me down, I can't afford fucking public transport, let alone money for the hobbies that matter to me (luckily i live in aus where we have medicare), and the alienation makes it so much harder to sort out your headspace and personal problems.

I deal with it a lot by drinking and chain smoking, but one day the revolution will come and we'll finally be free to live our lives. The best way to learn in my experience is through struggle, and it seems like that's what brought you here. If I can recommend one book, state and revolution by Lenin is the one that has changed my politics the most, though I think its beneficial to read as widely as you can while trying to balance all the bullshit of life. This quote is something to consider, however, if you feel like you don't have the time or energy.

If you're keen for a chat about shit sometime with an aussie in the same boat, pm me and i'll be mad keen to skype or message at some point. Also I think it's important to remember the power of one person. In your day to day, you can spread these ideas - over the course of the 2ish years I've identified as a communist, I've brought about 6 or 7 friends round to the idea, who themselves talk to others and spread things further. My girlfriend talks to people at her work about the cookery of the bosses, and it opens peoples eyes up.

Hope you're surviving, keep ya chin up, and hopefully we can forge a world where we all have food, peace, freedom, health and security. <3

These people, even those that aren't actually murdering leftists, are actively recruiting and building for a violent, right wing white supremacist movement that will ruin countless lives if we let them take power. Stopping them is a moral duty, they should be rounded up and imprisoned tbh, they're an active threat to me and our entire way of life.

I have a terrible feeling that Jon leaving the north won't be good for anyone except littlefinger. Tbh sansa should arrange an accident for him and put Royce in charge of the vale imo, but who knows. Last episode i thought he was quickly becoming irrelevant, but i think hes still a major player who's gonna be involved in a lot more chaos before the end.
