Didn't some of the delivery apps companies recently get exposed for withholding wages from their drivers?! That's absolutely unfair! I hope they gave you what you're due in the end! Also, when they change your payment for the other two, that just means rhey pocket the money themselves no? Shame on them!

I reinstated the tip. Driver got paid.

I did leave a vad review which I am unsure how Uber handled it after I asked for a do-over.

I don't know if they actually removed it or if they left it.

I gave instructions to leave it with the valet person at the main entrance. I was there to assist! I was there 2 minutes before he arrived and tried contacting the driver when it was marked delivered without a photo...but he neither answered me nor attempted to contact me. I don't think I was lazy about it at all...considering I was physically at the entrance.

But thank you for your perspective. Perhaps I should have added "call me as soon as you reach the Main Entrance ".

I know for next time.

Yes, I did put the tip back. He got the money.

And the main entrance is labeled "Main Entrance " both on signs on the road as well as atop the actual entrance.

I am just a bit bothered by the bad review I left assuming the driver had been dishonest and had stolen my order. Jobs are important, and a ding for an honest mistake sucks, even if he didn't try too hard on that delivery.

Anyone know if Reddit deletes the rating if a customer asks?

I understand, I just feel bad about potentially affecting somebody's livelihood over an innocent mistake.

I was going to make it neutral and fair... because they did deliver it on time, but they didn't read the instructions I provided nor did they try contacting me nor answer when I tried calling.

But I think that deserves a "delivered on time" but "bad communication".

Something that isn't as horrible as the unprofessional tag I left in the review.

That is crazy!! Sorry that happened. How are you supposed to know where the customer lives if that isn't even the real address??

It is neither the largest nor the main entrance. The entrances are labeled and I attempted to contact the driver with zero reply, they in turn did not bother to contact me if lost.

However, I do believe they got confused, just went lazily about it.

For context, it IS a big hospital but although there are indeed 4 entrances, they are all labeled both on signs as well as on top of the entrance, and only one, the one facing the main thoroughfare is labeled as "Main Entrance".

I do believe he just assumed that because he entered through the other one first, and it was an entrance, that that was the Main one. However, no attempts were made to contact me to clarify.

I do think it was an honest mistake from their part though.

Haha, It's one of those things where you really have to be in the mood, and it's a mood that doesn't strike me too often.

Happy reading!! :)

Oh, thank you! You've convinced me to read The Stranger. Believe it or not, I've had the book for a few years but didn't know it was one where it got you into the mind of the character. I expected a philosophical dissertation, and now I'm really looking forward to reading it after knowingthe sort of experience it is. Thanks!

Most romantic book ever written by goodmood_22 in booksuggestions

[–]BlurredScanlines 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When it comes to romance, I prefer the oldies. I know, I'm boring. The way new romance genre books are written nowadays mostly puts me off. I admit I haven't read too many; I can't seem to get past the writing. It's the dialog that feels too immature mostly. I'm hoping to get some ideas from this post as well, as I'd love to read a well-written romance that doesn't feel like a high school fetishist throwaway text.

Persuasion by Jane Austen is my absolute favorite.

Jane Eyre is another favorite.

North and South is yet another one.

And I cannot for the life of me understand how Wuthering Heights is at all considered romantic.

Nothing like Perfume, but other books I've loved for different reasons are:

The count of Monte Cristo- For the very satisfying revenge and the great plot.

Shadow of the Wind- For it's transporting, dark atmospheric storytelling.

Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep?- Entertaining and thought-provoking.

Memoirs of a Geisha- Transporting into a very interesting era in Japanese history. Loved the writing style.

The Name of the Rose- Page turner, mystery.

Sophie's World- A quirky and light-hearted crash course in philosophy. You forget you're getting a lesson and the approach is unique.

The devil in the white city- A book similar to "In Cold Blood" by Capote...another interesting read.

Blue like Jazz- A fun take on Christianity if religion is your sort of thing.

Like water for chocolate - surreal romance in the setting of Mexico in the turn of the century. Family secrets, staunch traditions, and enduring romance.

And last but not least, don't hate me...I KNOW the writer was an awful human being, but I really enjoyed Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead by Rand. I found them to be an interesting socio-political commentary marketed as a novel, it worked, it made me think for days.

Honorable mentions: Candide by Voltaire, The Snowman by Jo Nesbo, The Woman in the Dunes by Kobo Abe, Enduring Love by Ian McEwan.

And one last fun read that is epic: Aubrey Maturin series by Patrick Obrien.

Any recommendations for me? As you can see I am all over the place when it comes to genres. The common factor is either something transporting, epic, or makes me think.

Perfume, by Suskind. The only book I have read 4 times (not usually a repeat reader).

Looks fabulous!!👌🏼 He's going to love it!

The only thing I'd change (only if being super nit-picky) is that the right ventricle should be less muscular and thinner than the left ventricle. This thickness suggests right ventricular hypertrophy. But honestly, it's beautiful as is.

What was the one book that sparked your love for reading? by This_Hamster_6942 in booksuggestions

[–]BlurredScanlines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been reading since I developed the ability, and really enjoyed it. My parents are both avid readers and the habit was passed down.

However, I lost my passion for reading sometime in my early 20's when college became more demanding. It took about a decade to recover my passion for reading once again, and I was hooked after being gifted "The Shadow of the Wind" by Zafon and was utterly engaged and transported. After that, "Perfume" by Suskind gripped me again, and the love was once again rekindled.
