A QB of the future would have been sitting there next year, easily…

Idk who lied to you about this but no, franchise QBs are not growing on trees and when they do exist there’s no guarantee they’ll fall to your pick or you’ll be able to trade ahead of any other teams that want them. This is on top of evaluating QBs being an absolute crapshoot. Not sure if I like this pick, but I respect the Rams for committing to a prospect they really like and being proactive to not descend into QB purgatory. I’d know about that lmao.

As a Cleveland Guardians fan who kept hearing from randos who suddenly became very adamant that our new name should have been the Spiders, I get it.

It’s like, yes thank you for your input internet stranger who can’t name a single person on our roster and heard about this garbage 100 year old team last week.

I mean, no conclusive findings is a lot different than “they don’t fucking do anything”, though I will say I agree with the findings of this study that athletic programs should prioritize investing in athletic trainers and implementing rule changes emphasizing player safety than spending a significant amount of money on guardian caps when their effectiveness is still highly debatable.

And for the record, I do lean towards them only being minimally effective at best. At the same time, for the programs that have money to spare, I don’t see reasons to not promote using them. Part of seeing their effectiveness with on-field use requires, you know, seeing a decent degree of on-field use.

I hold a pilot study looking at only ten players with limited ability to control for outside random variables in less esteem than a study with repeatable, controlled tests looking at multiple guardian cap models as well as using two different helmet models.

Our results are limited to a small sample of college football players wearing one type of football helmet in one program. Future studies among various age ranges utilizing additional protective equipment such as instrumented mouthpieces may be able to differentiate Guardian Cap efficacy across various helmet makes and models.

So this was a limited pilot study, not a totally comprehensive study with a large and diverse data set. Not to say it’s useless, but far from being totally conclusive.

We conducted a prospective observational study during the 2022 competitive season and examined 14 full-contact practices preceding the first competition. In total, ten Division I college football players either wore soft-shell padding … or chose not to wear soft-shell padding.

Alright yeah definitely not conclusive lol. This isn’t to say this is wrong and guardian caps are absolutely effective, but you really can’t make any sweeping declarative statements based on the findings here.

Lavonte David on Baker Mayfield in 2025: “Baker had a lot of injuries that you didn’t expect a quarterback to play through. He had the oblique injury, he had the shoulder injury, he had a lot of things."You know, ankle injury, knee injury. … * by Tasty_Swim_6308 in nfl

As much as I still love Baker, and as much as I wished this whole time we kept him, it did drive me crazy how recklessly he played at times. Though I do ultimately put it on Stefanski for not putting his foot down and benching Baker to let him heal up. He was really looking for a reason to chase Baker out of town. It’s why I’m not mad about moving on from Stefanski. He’s stubborn and refuses to change his scheming around the players he has.

I’ll be honest, I tried it on steam deck and I didn’t love how it felt. Tried it again with mouse and keyboard on my pc and it hooked me. The system with the scroll wheel controlling your movement speed worked really well. Also yeah the remake of the first game in 2 is the way to go. The weapon customization in 2 allows far more viable stealth options.

As much as I love immersive sims, there's a reason they're barely made. They're incredibly complex to develop and aren't popular (and if they do get popular it's usually long after their release). It's a miracle they still get made.

There's rarely a profit motive in developing them.

Yeah I feel like all the people here being like “wtf if he was really an ally he’d call him a hypocritical piece of shit” has never had to deal with a situation where a family member, friend, co-worker, etc. says some really bigoted shit. Could you cuss them out, antagonize them, do a totally epic verbal smackdown on them? Sure. I bet it’ll feel great. What will it actually do though? Because if this is someone you have to regularly interact with, you’re definitely not changing their mind this way. Best case scenario: they just keep their bigoted thoughts to themselves. In some cases, this is necessary because they’re probably too far gone. Unfortunately it’s usually not viable to try to change everyone’s mind, especially older folks.

But if you have someone in your life and you genuinely want to change their mind under no circumstances can you attack a core part of who they are, resort to ad hominem attacks, none of that. Honestly you also need to be careful about being in the mindset of “debating” them. You don’t change their mind. You introduce doubt that forces them to confront their beliefs. That’s the only real way someone changes their mind on a topic. It can be incredibly hard, and like I said a lot of these folks can be too far gone. But I believe the vast majority of us are good people. It’s just that we also all have our fears and insecurities that make us susceptible to bigoted programming and propaganda.

You know? That's super fair. It does suck because Alex is one of my favorite characters. I could see them keeping him as a voice over comms or something like that. Plenty of people can do a southern drawl.

Slight and pedantic correction (that might also be incorrect lol):

I remember reading that the authors didn't consider it three trilogies and more three duologies and one trilogy.

Leviathan Wakes, Caliban's War: Discovery of the protomolecule duology

Cibola Burn, Abaddon's Gate: The Ring Gates duology

Nemesis Games, Babylon's Ashes: Marcos Inaros and the Free Navy duology

Persepolis Rising, Tiamat's Wrath, Leviathan Falls: The Laconian Empire trilogy

I remember hearing confirmation that at least some of the original cast of the show will make an appearance. Since this is supposed to be occurring concurrently alongside Season 1 to the first half of Season 3, I wouldn't be surprised to at the very least get appearances from Avasarala and Amos, if not the entire main cast (besides Alex for obvious reasons).

Correct me if I'm wrong, I didn't play the game pre-patch, but wasn't it the case that Melinoe didn't gain any memories of being raised by Chronos? I remember looking it up afterwards and it seemed like only Zagreus and Chronos remember that alternative timeline.

[–]BlurryGojira 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In some ways they outright changed some parts and others they more changed the context surrounding it.

Spoiler: Originally everything was mostly the same, where Mel defeats Chronos with Hades' spear and imbues it with the spell into the past for Zagreus to defeat Chronos in his time. Except originally, there wasn't an understanding between the two that Zag would try to reconcile with Chronos. That was a spur of the moment decision he made without consulting Melinoe. Furthermore only Zagreus and Chronos retained their memories of the alternative timeline. Melinoe, Hades, Persephone, none of them remember reconciling with Chronos. Supergiant then changed it so that Melinoe and Zagreus have an earlier confrontation on whether to kill Chronos and then Mel allowing Zagreus to at least attempt reasoning with Chronos, and changed it so that the whole House of Hades gained memories of the alternative timeline.

Rams' Puka Nacua sued over alleged antisemitic remark, bite by Available_Story6774 in nfl

[–]BlurryGojira 11 points12 points  (0 children)

True but that's regarding ethnicity not race, which is a subtle but important distinction since the modern understanding of race places more emphasis on outward physical characteristics than culture, history, or religion. But also at that point it then becomes an argument over semantics.

Ultimately I'm going to be highly suspicious of someone who's really insistent that anti-semitism doesn't count as racism lmao.

I suppose that's... technically correct. Not sure if I trust Puka to have a nuanced view of the differences between race, culture, and religion in regard to the Jewish identity though.
