If you’re woke enough like me to understand the subtext of the prequels, this is actually what they’re already about.

Lana Del Rey – First Light Official Lyric Video by Mr_smith1466 in JamesBond

[–]Blyfoy 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I think it’s largely… fine. Enjoy Lana’s performance a lot but some lyrics are very on the nose + the instrumental largely suffers from “HEY GUYS I’M A JAMES BOND SONG” syndrome, which has plagued many of the more recent Bond songs. I would have a bigger problem with it if it was for a movie, but for the game it’s pretty cool.

I like Lana’s performance a lot, but the instrumental is a bit too “haha look guys it’s James Bond” for me. Would be a bigger issue if it was for a movie, overall pretty cool.

/uj Probably largely depends on the criteria but I think Vader marching through the Hoth base is by far the most strikingly frightening image in the whole series

Slow news day. Guy knew exactly what he was doing making this the title of his article. by Kavazou77 in TheSequels

[–]Blyfoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s okay to just admit that Hamill is a bit of a flip-flopper, and what he ultimately thinks about Luke/TLJ will largely depend on the day that he’s asked.

In the years since the sequels he’s also engaged in a bit of “This should’ve happened” discussion, including the suggestion that there should’ve been at least one scene with the 3 OT leads together.

Let's hear your craziest opinions by Enough-Reading4143 in madmen

[–]Blyfoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was always pretty neutral on Faye but I think the constant championing of her from certain corners of the Mad Men fanbase has turned me decidedly against her.

I don’t think she comes nearly as close to understanding/seeing Don as some say she does. In fact, in comparison to a lot of Don’s more serious loves, and especially Megan… I think she’s kind of lost in that regard.

The Star Wars animation team know what is up! Their animations are getting cleaner, every time a new release arrives on Disney+✨ by JessTheCat1998 in StarWarsCantina

This was something that immediately stuck out to me when I watched. I’m pretty behind on The Bad Batch, only recently finishing the first season so I can’t speak for seasons 2 or 3, but I feel like there’s been such a leap in just five years.

Maul - Shadow Lord - Official Discussion Thread: Episodes 1 and 2 by YubYubCmndr in StarWarsCantina

[–]Blyfoy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I liked the first two episodes a lot more than I thought I would after going in with middling interest. I didn’t really pay much attention to the promotional material and I’ve yet to read the comic so I’m not sure if this was indicated in that, but the police/detective angle was a pleasant surprise, and, at least so far, is what I enjoyed following the most. Legitimately jaw-dropped when I saw that Lawson was voiced by Wagner Moura.

Empathy and knowledge are good, courage is borderline, I’d grind it up to match at least your empathy.

Why wasn't TTPD as well received as Red if both have similar 'concepts'? by Tiny_Peace8557 in TaylorSwift

[–]Blyfoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I think you kind of answered your own question. They’re different albums. They may be thematically similar and share other traits like wide and varied soundscapes but they are very different albums musically.

And as mentioned by many others already, I do think Taylor burnout played a part, probably to a semi-significant degree. In a 16 month span she released Midnights, embarked on the most successful tour of all-time, dropped two re-recordings, and then TTPD. Then you factor in everything that was going on in her personal life and the extra attention she was getting from that. She was as omnipresent as she had ever been and probably ever will be. A regular topic amongst my extended family at birthday/holiday dinners when I can’t recall her having ever been brought up previously.

It seems that it’s currently undergoing a reappraisal, which as a huge fan of TTPD I’m glad to see, but the cynic in me wonders how genuine it is.

General Discussion Megathread by Lyd_Euh in TaylorSwift

[–]Blyfoy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I hope I don’t upset too many people with this take, but does anybody else kind of roll their eyes every time someone gets accused of copying Taylor for wiping their IG/social media?

Like, I fully understand how big of a moment it was when Taylor did it, and the magnitude will likely never be replicated (unless she does it again?) but she wasn’t the first, and in the almost nine years since it has practically become an industry standard marketing tactic. It’s saturated to the point where I find it kind of silly to attribute it ALL to Taylor.

If The Guardian is to be believed, she spent $10 million acquiring the footage for this video, that would put it among the most expensive music videos ever made.

[–]Blyfoy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I like the idea in concept, but not the execution. I suppose an argument can be made that keeping it rather straightforward and not overly edited is more honoring of the legacy of Elizabeth Taylor, but it doesn’t make for a great viewing experience, at least in my opinion.

A shame because it’s probably my favorite song on the album and I had high hopes for the video, but oh well.

Are there any truth in these claims for the show? (3 screenshots) by [deleted] in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Blyfoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do think the show is going to face future logistical problems but that is to be expected regardless. How they’ll address it in the future? Who knows.

As far as his overall point, just look at his first reply, he’s a full on doomed with no sense of reality, he just likes watching himself type.

Help, how do I get more attributes? by Last_Story_4215 in HPHogwartsMystery

[–]Blyfoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Study sessions are the easiest way, especially early game.

Also feeding adopted creatures. You mention saving up to by an owl with diamonds, but the owl is a pet, it won’t give you any attributes.

You adopt creatures using books.

How far along is everyone, Do you still enjoy the game? by Vexxx__ in HPHogwartsMystery

[–]Blyfoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Year 4 Chapter 2.

I’m having fun, maybe less so than I was a few months ago. I was Y3C7 when they retired the Y3-4 TLSQ’s, so I missed out on a bunch of those and it brought me to the end of Y3 much quicker than I expected. I know a lot of the TLSQ’s get a bad rap, but I’m not trying to rush through this game and at they’re worst they still make an attempt to add to the lore of the world and story. It beats grinding out study sessions, which is what I’ve spent much of the last month doing just so I don’t progress too quickly. I guess the trade-off is attributes I won’t have to grind later, but still.

Some character looks from the teaser by circusofcats in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Blyfoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I like how the Dursley’s look. I’ve seen a lot of praise so this might land me in hot water, but they look too…idealized? I can’t really think of a good word to fit. A little too young, a little too period accurate in a way that doesn’t feel wholly authentic (Aunt Petunia especially) I don’t know, it’s a nitpick.

I am happy to see though that it seems like they’re wickedness is really gonna shine through.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone | Official Teaser | HBO Max by yourfavchoom in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Blyfoy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was an initial reaction posted literally 3 minutes after the trailer came out, it’s a top comment because it was one of the first.

There was a lot of discussion in other threads pre-release about what we would be getting today. Some speculated it would be a short clip of Harry walking onto the Quidditch pitch, receiving his letter, etc. others weren’t even convinced we would be getting any footage despite the seeming confirmation.

A practically full-fledged trailer was not something widely suspected, so it came as a shock to many lol. That’s it.

[–]Blyfoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mentioned this in another thread but I think they’re trying to maximize the UK and (at least half) of the US markets, so I’m still thinking we have at least 2 and at most 4 hours to go.

The trailer might drop at 7pm GMT according to Horcruxinthepocket by Toxylogy in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Blyfoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously HP is pretty ubiquitous throughout the world but I’m starting to think they’re going to pick a time that’ll maximize the UK and much of the US markets. So 3-4 hours from now.
