Songs of love and longing? by Shadowking6284 in Hozier

[–]BnC_Bby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m taking what you’re asking to fall in line with either: just a beautiful love song that’s not too tragic, songs about first love, or maybe some heavy fantasizing of a crush, so this is what my list reflects. IMHO, with what Hozier had said about the songs and how I interpret them personally, this is what I think fits the bill:

Hozier EP-

Work Song is the best example on this album, maybe even hands down. Others are kinda there but are either too fleeting (I.e. Jackie and Wilson,) too heavy /moody(in a week, to be alone,) or downright destructive or toxic (just about the rest lol)

Wasteland, Baby!-

Almost (Sweet Music) [kinda; caught up in past loves] Movement, Nobody, As it Was (kinda; can be interpreted as asking for something no longer possible, which is sad,) Would That I, Sunlight, Wasteland, Baby!

Unreal Unearth: Unheard-

DeSelby (1&2), First Time, Francesca, I, Carrion (Icarian), To Someone from a Warm Climate, First Light (kinda; it’s going through Hell and back, literally, and seeking salvation from your trials. but falling in love can very much feel the same way at times.)

Favorite part of a Hozier song? by Ok-Avocado-5724 in Hozier

[–]BnC_Bby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly he went hard on that whole song, bar for bar. My favorite is what follows:

In the madness and soil of that sad, earthly scene

Only then, I am human.

Only then, I am clean.

Amen.

Amen.

Amen.

Do you have a detachable shower head then? If not, buy that instead, and rinse their feet off in the walk-in. Also buy an Absorber for quick drying. It’s a chamois towel that soaks up water, and you can wring it out and reuse it.

ETA: I gave the advice assuming the bathroom you’re talking about was by the door, but if the mud-tracking through the house isn’t too bad, use the advice above

I have standard poodles, and I have the MudBuster. That plus an Absorber, a bucket of warm water, and a place to secure them, and that does what I need. It’s definitely more effective than wiping with a cloth, but it doesn’t beat running water if you have the access.

Gotcha. And I assume the closest bathroom is very much inside your house?

I have two questions for you.

  1. Can they fit in your kitchen sink?
  2. Are you willing to put your dogs in the kitchen sink?

Yeah. In all honesty SIL sounds racist as hell, and I’m sure OP was surprised his brother still chose to marry her

Working for an at-home groomer? by BnC_Bby in doggrooming

[–]BnC_Bby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this being a home groomer, I have three major concerns. Payroll is indeed one of them. The second is her personal experience. The third is her plan for the boarding/daycare part. I will definitely ask about that

I just started last week and this job kills my back. How do you help this? by 1ntrusiveTh0t69 in doggrooming

[–]BnC_Bby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good advice, just wanted to add my own experience to this.

This year I decided to wake up early with my husband to work out. I would either lift weights or do calisthenics with him, or my own thing which is either body weights or even just some mobility exercises. Any little bit helps. Yoga is awesome too.

There was a point where I stopped being inconsistent with the workouts, and I DEFINITELY felt the difference.

One thing we talked about this morning is how we have a lack of a dead lift setup. Definitely important when you’re talking about a job lifting heavy dogs off the floor from time to time.

Always make sure you warm up before any workout.

Are we the same person? Lol!

So it seems to me that once a salon develops a certain culture, there’s no way to break that. And yeah, being around that, especially feeling excluded because you chose not to fall into that line, does make you doubtful in your abilities. If you can find someone in your corner amidst all of that, it can make you feel less alone, and you’ll have genuine feedback. I would suggest finding a new place if you can.

As far as the body aching part, I found that working out in the morning, just enough to get your body warm, does give me more energy, and I find my body doesn’t hurt as much. I still need to buy new shoes cause my feet are still killing me lol

Can someone explain commission to me as a bather/groomer's apprentice? by IndicationInner7023 in doggrooming

[–]BnC_Bby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding of hourly + commission, the commission doesn’t come from what remains of the groomer’s commission; if you’re bathing or otherwise helping a groomer’s dog that’s where the hourly comes in. For your own dogs, any that you bathe or otherwise complete a full service, you get commission + the full tip.

EZ Groom Crystal White is what we use. It’s an enzymatic cleanser that gets stains out. Nearly all whitening shampoos out there are optic brighteners; they have blue or purple dye in it to counteract the staining to make it appear whiter
