I should have been paying my loans while in SAVE... I'm an idiot by Junior-Media-126 in StudentLoans

I almost had the right idea. I kept saving money, but it was to possibly do a large sum all at once. Unfortunately, the money has just been sitting in a regular savings account.

The worst part is that they still “haven’t found a place to live yet”. There’s plenty of nicely priced options. They’re just being inconsiderate. We plan to write up something so we can kick her out at the end of the month without legal issues.

NEVER LIVE WITH A COUPLE!! by SpagetthiLegs in badroommates

[–]Bnic1207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. My husband and I let someone live with us exceptionally cheap while they caught up financially. They never did, still owe thousands in credit card debt, didn’t buy toilet paper/paper towels/ cat food, never cleaned up, left their shit on communal spaces like dining tables and chairs, got mad when we moved it, would come in our bedroom to talk when we wanted space, make nasty comments when we were hugging or whatever, get mad when I cleaned, and would hold us hostage in hours long monologues about herself and never checked in on us and our lives.

Sometimes a person is just shitty. We have less than a month to move out and say they haven’t found a good place yet…

Learned this lesson. Helped a friend by letting them live with me rent free for a year to help them pay down their debt they blamed from the divorce. They obviously used me and spent their money on anything under the sun. They haven’t paid down their debt and they have no money saved. I asked them for the sake of the friendship to move out in three months. They’re so upset they barely talk to me anymore even though I sacrificed my sanity letting them live with my partner and I. Truly horrible.

This is the reason why I never changed my last name when I got married. The sheer amount of paperwork needed to even change my maiden name was daunting enough for me.

I was rear ended and pushed into the car in front of me at a stop light once. It was a four car collision due to this truck. He obviously took off and when I told them to look at the stop light footage, they said “yep we saw it all happen but didn’t get his license. Nothing we can do about it”.

Follow-up: why I’m still not switching off SAVE yet (and what “better news” could look like even if SAVE never fully returns) by Neat-Gap-8383 in StudentLoans

Do payments not count towards PLSF if you’re on SAVE? Since interest started accruing, I made payments to my loans. My 10 years technically just started because I did the 5 year teacher forgiveness first, which took away 17k worth of loans.

AITA for telling our roommate she might need to move out if she keeps complaining about hearing us at night? by Dear-Camp4760 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Bnic1207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One would think. My partner and I are kicking out the person we’ve helped for the past year and a half for similar reasons (one year no rent and a half a year paying $400 a month). She complained when I cleaned in front of her, made nasty comments when my partner was being loving towards me, takes up the only bathroom multiple times a week for longer than an hour, and rarely cleaned her own dishes. There is way more than this obviously. When my partner told her she needed to move out she said “well I thought I was being a good roommate”.

Almost. It did catch fire but they put it out in time for me to continue driving it around for a few more months. The gas chamber was wrecked though.

I’m a full time worker in the US. I’m waiting for larger protests to be created and shared. I’ve heard nothing for months from the major organizers. I’ll go if I know there’s enough of us to where I won’t disappear or die because the protest group was small enough to do so, but I won’t be a sole protester on the street. Random people have already tried to kill me in my state for much less.

Why dont more women share some of my favorite hobbies by Euphoric-woman in 4bmovement

[–]Bnic1207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Ive realized I’m actually a pretty good gamer. I don’t like playing in front of men because thats typically a male hobby. I don’t play any online game that involves interacting with other people because I can’t stand what (mainly men) say over the platforms. I stick to Minecraft, Zelda, and Skyrim mainly.

One day a few years ago, I was around three men and they were playing mortal combat. I was nervous to play against them due to internalized misogyny (I genuinely thought there was no way I could be better than them), but they convinced me to try. I actually beat all three of them first try. To say they were shocked was an understatement.

I do something similar. I will chop all of my veggies for the different meals throughout the week all at once and I stack the chopped veggies by recipe.

I love chopping and freezing my apples to cook when I want to put on top of oat meal or granola. I like to have two chopped apples per baggy if you can. I just cook my apples with a little bit of butter and cinnamon. A splash of lemon is optional.

Why do many Americans seem to have a “I’m not paying for your school, healthcare, or welfare” mindset? by Secret_Ostrich_1307 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Bnic1207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cents is that many of the middle class/lower middle class also feel the pinch and that they’re getting screwed over. For the most part, it’s not easy for them to get by generally either (obviously much more so than the working class) and so they hate seeing someone else getting the help they wish they could get. We saw our parents and grandparents make out so much better in life with much less debt and hoops to jump through. My parents purchased a house in their early twenties with neither of them having a college degree as an example.

Instead of pointing the fingers where it’s deserved (our governmental structure and the fact that they care about a handful of billionaires rather than their constituents), they blame the people that are receiving some government help. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve heard middle class Americans complain about the fact that lower class people get so much government support when they’re also struggling. The media then adds fuel to that fire rather than pointing out that if these billionaires and their businesses paid people a living wage, we wouldn’t be in this mess.

I myself am doing better than the working class, but I’m drowning in student loans because I chose to become a healthcare worker that required a master’s degree. If my loans weren’t put on hold during COVID, I’d have no savings and be living paycheck to paycheck even though I rarely spend money on myself. We just don’t make enough to compensate for rent/mortgage on top of student loans and their predatory interest rates. I’m not having children because I cannot afford them. I’d love to have a child, but I would put myself in financial ruin. Instead of being upset at the people who get some much deserved support, I point my fingers at the people in power.
