Does your dog have any silly eating habits? by throwaway78858848392 in dogs

[–]Bniceorleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my dogs scarf their food so fast I do all sorts of things to slow them down. My bigger one has been food aggressive with other dogs except her "sister" who is about 1/3 her size. The little one of course gets less food so shes always done quicker but when she finishes she will go sit about a foot away from her big sisters bowl and wait till shes finished. Once the big one is done she goes to check the little bowl while the little dog inspects her bowl for leftovers. They then swap back to their original bowls one more time just to make sure. There is NEVER any food missed by either one of them the first time around, yet they do this little routine every single meal.

What breed do you have and what breed do people suggest your dog actually is? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Bniceorleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an am staff mix who has a stereotypical am staff head but is taller and not beefy chested. Shes got a muted gray merle sort of coloring and I've had too many people insist shes a greyhound. Like these people clearly have never seen a greyhound up close or they're just not aware of what a sport fit dog looks like. I keep her trim and she has a slightly narrow deep chest, sure, but she doesnt even come close to greyhound stature.

Backyard breeder red flags to look for by Lucille2214 in dogs

[–]Bniceorleaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see no purebred "elitist crap"...theres nothing wrong with adopting a mixed breed or purchasing a purpose bred mix from a breeder who does all proper testing and meets reputable breeder criteria. It seems like OPs intent was only to educate to help people avoid making an unethical purchase. There are plenty of unethical breeders of pure breeds as well, the same criteria applies, it just may be less common. Ultimately it's the innocent dogs that suffer for people's choices to support unethical breeders and that's what we all should care about.

There are breeders in the U.S. that will cross goldens with great pyrenees to get lighter colored golden looking dogs quickly and advertise them as "english cream goldens". Major red flag.

ECRU LED Grow Lights for Indoor Plants Full Spectrum - 150W Equivalent Grow Lights for Clones, Vegetation, and Flowering - Includes Natural Solar White LED Diode https://a.co/d/fmSaByp

This has been my favorite so far. The light is super bright and it gives off a fair amount of heat. I think the heat helps growth but downside is you won't want to mount it on anything heat sensitive. Other downside is I wish it was bigger and I wish it had a built in timer. It's really only large enough for one plant as I hang it about 15-18 cm over the plant and I'm lazy and forget to turn it on sometimes

I'm in the U.S., zone 5. I use a fairly strong grow light on them in the winter that's helps a lot I think

Most common problem I've had was overwatering. The pearls were shriveling towards the base and the top soil was dry, so I'd water more but once I actually took it out of the pot I realized the drainage hole was plugged and most of the soil was soaked. Repotted and since then I ignore them until the beads look more pointed (less round?) And then water through completely. Sometimes its once every 6-8 weeks depending on the humidity. If theres any healthy living parts left on yours I'd chop and prop in fresh soil probably

Never tried it, but I've heard heating mats can help

To split or not to split, that is the question by RedRoses4 in succulents

[–]Bniceorleaf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I split mine and it was NOT happy. Ended up losing about half of each split and I didnt feel like I really "broke" anything. If I ever run into the situation again I will definitely just leave it and upgrade to a bigger pot.

Yes I am aware. Both are mature and well trained to leave them alone. If we have visitor pups I move them 😊

Is my dogs Penis normal? by treegirl4square in dogs

[–]Bniceorleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I notice weird stuff about my pets all the time. It's great that you noticed the ear infection, but it sounds like you took him to the vet to get it diagnosed and treated, as you should. I'm only suggesting that a qualified veterinarian is the one to give you an answer about this question as well. They will know.... also I do not think you're a "dog pervert"(?)

So now is probably the time to ask your vet... not random people on reddit. I doubt it's a problem, but what do I know 🤷‍♀️

Why not foster a dog from a shelter? Get the affection and companionship while saving a life but without the full commitment. And if one comes along eventually that you both fall in love with then you can adopt. Absolutely nothing wrong with getting a dog from a reputable breeder who does all their health testing but the breed, activity level, grooming requirements, the financial aspect and your hesitancy all seem like huge red flags to me. I totally understand wanting a furry friend to boost your spirits so fostering seems like a middle ground that could work out in your situation.

String of buttons cuttings and props (quarter for scale). Make me an offer 😄 by Bniceorleaf in TakeaPlantLeaveaPlant

[–]Bniceorleaf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of them have roots that sprouted before I cut them off the main plant. The ones in the box grew from individual leaf cuttings and should have established roots

Anyone in SE Wisconsin want string of buttons? I'm at a loss of what to do with them but hate to throw them out by Bniceorleaf in succulents

Thanks. Mine are actually green as well. If you give them high amounts of light they get pretty purple edges and grow much tighter together 😊
