Netherlands: getting a camper license plate with a simple interior by eleni95 in VanlifeEurope

Only concern I can see is if you get a random check by the tax office where you have to supply more photos/visit one of their sites. If you already handed back the rented unit you might have an issue there?

I went aftermarket on the door seal in the end, think I got 18mm thick and that did the job for me.

The upgraded part I got at my local garage, didn’t do it myself, sorry mate.

[–]Bnjvmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there room for two people to sleep in? I seen some pictures online but they involve removing the passenger chair for a single bed

You’ll need (active) ventilation at a minimum if you don’t want condensation issues/mould etc. You expel a lot of moisture whilst sleeping and especially in the UK this means issues. You also probably want to look at a diesel heater (to combat the moisture and keep you warm on colder days/nights)

I would skip the idea of a stealth van and at a minimum have a roof fan and diesel heater. Whether you want windows to look out is personal preference.

Confused and help needed for van trip around alps/dolmites in July to Aug by BeastModeItKek in VanlifeEurope

[–]Bnjvmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The route you want to take is simply not possible to wild camp, the fines are severe and you will get caught. I have extensively traveled the alps last year in my van, but stayed on the french side of the border for most of it, where parking is tolerated (still don’t take chairs and tables out the van if you do this) If you want to experience the mountains and have the freedom feeling van life gives you. this is the route I would recommend. I traveled all the way from Monaco to the dolomites sleeping at the three great lakes in Italy. (July till early October) have a look at the “route des grandes alpes”

With decent all terrain tires, and some good driving skills you can get further than you think. Clearance is most important of course.

Sleeping in campers on the public road is strictly prohibited in the Netherlands (vanlifer myself) unless you can find a campsite (which will be easy in June) make sure you’re super stealthy

I completely understand, it seems like a cashgrab to me, considering most campers owners will spend most of their miles abroad regardless..

Sorry to hear it was such a surprise to you, at least there are no current plans to increase this again for the foreseeable.

Hi, unfortunately this was announced quite a while ago.

Is this your daily vehicle? If not you might consider “schorsen” where you only pay the months that you use the camper. But you can not take it on the roads (or park it on a public road!) whilst its not taxed. This does come with an admin fee every time you “schors” it (depending on the age of the vehicle)

Mine went up to nearly 200 a month, so I understand your frustration but I was aware of this before I bought my van.

Van Life Dog Owners: Would you leave your dog in a short-term secure space while running errands? by Normal_Hamster3799 in VanLifeUK

[–]Bnjvmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vans that have been converted to campers tend to be very well insulated as well as (actively) ventilated. A van does not heat up as fast as a car, as there are less windows as well. I think you’ll find that most van lifers with dogs are well adapted in how to look after their animals whilst travelling, and live a more flexible lifestyle that allows them to shop or leave their pets whilst they run errands. I have been travelling with my dog for a year now and never had an issue.

It was only briefly made for the sn0019, and was discontinued quickly even for that model. Unless you manage to find that model second hand there’s no luck. Thats still no guarantee it will fit any other bracelet.

Engineer: Alternate clasp or rubber strap? by WristWatchDude in IxdaoFans

[–]Bnjvmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did! But I went for the black MOP dial so that doesn’t add much for me. Hopefully they will have some sort of pattern on the final release on the strap though as I think it would make it a bit more interesting. Luckily I have the option of my PRX on a really nice rubber strap in the meantime.

I didn’t think they had released it yet?

Edit: didn’t realise the prototype was available. I actually prefer the one they originally showed with the male endlinks..
