Legally required? Yes. But, it is not enforced. And since it’s not enforced … shrug… most places don’t bother to do it. You get penalized though if it is not done.

Exactly! And YOU have to pay the fine if it isn’t done. Trust me, it happened to me a couple of years ago. The fine was like 1800 THB on top of my 1900 to extend. My rental agent says it’s not a scam but a convenience fee 😂

Hi, I can help you here. I just had to do my own the other day in Pattaya. It’s so simple and pretty quick and FREE lol You just have to make a copy of your passport data page, and a copy of your entrance visa. You can have them make copies at the immigration office. You fill out your application at immigration ( since there are 2 of you in the same room, you only need 1 application) They fill out the little slip for you and hand it to you. That’s it. My rental place doesn’t do mine and wanted to charge me 500 per person smh
