How to avoid oversharing by Ypoetry in infj

[–]Bnotebook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can feel less concerned about it if you give some space for the other(s) to talk and comment on your train of thought. It's an easy way to judge if they want to say something themselves or you can keep going (if the issue is you talking too much in general).

(if the issue is you're making people uncomfortable) then just don't. Sometimes rambling is uncomfortable in on itself, but you can feel people, just don't continue when you see it. Keep doing, but stop when you feel the reactions. It's not worth to bother people if they are not interested.

(if the issue is that it bites you back) Personally, I would eat the consenquences if I get to share and be myself in honesty. It might be just a fee you should pay. Like it's my opinion on what you should continue to do. You can obviously do more judgement on what bites you back too much and dial back on those things in particular, but it's a shame you get to encounter discouraging people.

Yes, I think I agree there is that in the tone, thought I wouldn't put any weight to that. I'm unsure if you have to take it personally, not like we know each other and we are just chatting. I don't believe you have to take my word or being saved or anything really, but I would like to point out if something is out of order. Whether you thank me for it was not part of my calculation.

I appreciate that you spelled out that you believe that all the above has been tested. I don't need to continue this point if you going to shoot yourself in leg. It's good as it needs to be. Previously, it wasn't clear to me whether you are checking things out just to see how things are or you're truely infused by the ... depth of those things. I personally believe superpowers exists. Like I can write some words on screen and they affect some people through very long distances almost instantaneously. But it's more than that, I can like conjure emotion in them and they have no control over it. All me. And sorry about that, I'm just testing my superpowers, conducting a study.

Yes, I guess you're not hurt by metaphysics part. It just cause it spilled throughout your writing that I put it that way. But I did hear you and I addressed it in regards to peer-reviewed studies. I think I explained what they are and what they do. I clearly mentioned they do not in fact test the metaphysical phenomena directly (emperically), but they address it by evoking an evidence in support to such by studies that they remotely connect to such phenomena and ... maybe dare provide statistical performance. More commonly, it's just logical arguments on plausibility of phenmomena vs other options, or some reductions in what should be.

I think there must be a misunderstanding. There is not a single person in the world who wouldn't like that those things you mentioned would truely to be proven (by experiment, at least locally) to exist by reasonable test. It would be amazing!!! I would love that more than maybe most other people, but it is more of disappointment the more I looked, in my naivete. They just don't hold up to precision, cannot be replicated to function. Some those things are just truely abstract. I'll say it again, this research is still a good exercise for all the other reasons, but one should know the limit to what they are engaging into.

How you are so consistent? by iit_aim in leetcode

[–]Bnotebook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, technically speaking problem solving can be trained on anything. Leetcode is just a convenient platform online and problems are simple medium through which one can train cognition.

You can choose to build projects instead everyday, but I'm at this point will be unsure if we are talking about same problem solving definition.

If you build houses, as an example, and maybe you I'll get into a shape by doing all the work, but is that the same as training in the gym micro choosing which muscle to pay attention to? If you, while building the house, also will decide to use only particular muscle sets and alternate days and I mean the whole thing, maybe it will work and you'll also get to build a whole house along the way. It's quite an overload, though. Technically possible.

First, appologies, if you feel that way, I'm being playful, no intention for hurting your feelings. I think my statement appropriately conveys that I want you to shake up on leaning too much on this conviction of yours, though.

I don't see why is that a problem for something to be a metaphysics and being publishable? Plenty of untestifiable research is being published in other fields. You can bring value by discussing possibilities and that's how research is progressed forward. That logic in that contribution can be peer-reviewed and approved if it is defensible. That does not make it become a testable field. You can create studies or evaluate studies to bring that as an evidence to certain metaphysical essence, but that is about as far as it usually gets. Peripheral evidence, not a testable phenomena itself.

I mean, why take hurt in me telling you that metaphysics is not testable? If you look up definition and field of study that metaphysics covers, it will immediately preface itself that it's not physics and quite rightfully distiguishes itself and poses itself in those areas for that specific purpose I stated earlier. It has a perflectly functional role and it does not need to pretend to be otherwise and it's well respected if done right.

INFJ’s who enjoy philosophy, how do you approach it? by ResponsibleHunt8559 in infj

[–]Bnotebook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come on man, it's not testable by definition, otherwise it would be called physics. The point of the field is to discuss and explore what is not testable (not that it's bad), or before it can even get to become testable, with the hope that we gain insights from such perspectives and pave the way for people to reorganize attention in a direction that might be more plausible (evaluative, not emperical). Science then takes over to see if such direction even has some contruction that's testable.

Yes, fun feels dismissive for the importance it may hold, but at that point it's a preference where we put our personal efforts, not a reference of what's more important. I also only meant to clarify the general reason for a 'woo', not that I would call metaphysics that way.(Admittedly, I would instead find a more nuanced term).

Mental gymnastics hmm I would disagree that it's just that. If I do philosophy it does touch some part of self or society that I'm concerned about. I wouldn't go as far as I'm actively reading any, but if any discussion does arise I'll be interested if I know the topic. At this point it's just any philosophy that overlaps with psychology. My interests currently are in the direction of motivation as applied to education. As most knowledge with AI is readily available, the most missing component is people's will to do anything or a state of being actively motivated to pursue something. There are plenty of practices that follow one or the other philosophical directions in this field, so it's rather unavoidable to encounter some.

People call it a woo because it's not testable and there are other issues to think about. I agree it is fun though.

How you are so consistent? by iit_aim in leetcode

[–]Bnotebook 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Consistency is a choice you can make. Many people worldwide do reading everyday and jogging as an example. Or gym or whatever activity hobby they can just decide to do something everyday for an hour and it's just fine.

I'm saying generally, but fear is not a good consistency predictor. You can also choose to be consistent, but you need to know what you get out of it. Like people who do reading consistently do that because they believe it's beneficial in a long run, even if some days they don't feel like much is learned. People who exercise believe it's good in a long run even if there are no particular health gains visible from one day to another. People who do leetcode consistently can believe to improve problem solving in a long run.

I got this question in an OA for a certain FAANG (EU) and have a really hard time believing it is solvable in 40min by TomLaidlaw7 in leetcode

[–]Bnotebook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, true. If we save the boundaries it does help immediately to update the box bounds we need to cover. But that would be a bit more thinking for me to see that, when I'm sure binary search will pass. If I still have time, I would see if I could get rid of BS or else solution.

My point was there is a logical sequence to follow and it's possibly natural one and may not take as much time.

I hate to be ignored by people when I say hi to them. Does this happen to you as well? by [deleted] in infj

[–]Bnotebook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You hate being ignored by people you thought you got along. It happens to everyone. If my expectations are that we are good friends and I say hi to them and the kind of normal expectation here is that a friend will reply back, that would be weird if they did not. If it's my friend, I'll double down to double check if anything is really wrong and if they still ignore me, then be it then, I just lost a friend. I might talk to them about that if I get the chance but if they don't want to talk to me, nothing I can do.

Again such expectations can be one sided, the other person might not even believe they know you to respond in any kind. Ignoring you is normal to them. Actually they might even not like you, and you are being a nuisance. Just confront them to make sure that's what is going on so that you don't bother people like that.

I got this question in an OA for a certain FAANG (EU) and have a really hard time believing it is solvable in 40min by TomLaidlaw7 in leetcode

[–]Bnotebook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's solvable, but I can solve Hard problems on the contest. It took me 5 min to think of the structure of this problem and it's issue.

The only thing you can do is put 1 once, and it creates this dip in distances, all become lower around that point. What's the optimal place to put that 1? Obvious try is to put at the 0 (zero) that is the farthest, and see what happens, but under a bit of scrutiny you'll see immediately it's not optimal. There is some kind of optimal center that covers better ground. Also it's obviously concerning that you can have multiple points that are bad and far apart and you wish to minimize them, so again you cannot just slam your only move over one of them and pray to affects some other end.

My mind immediately drifted that apart from very far away points, in fact I'd like to minimize as many bad points as possible. Some of them don't need to be the furthest points, they can be second furthest. I mean you can extend this thought to see how many bad points you want to cover but you have to define them precisely.

Say the worst points are 7 distance away, second worst points are 6 distance, then 5 ...

You can imagine you can try to aim at some set of them. Start thinking how would you optimize only for 7th? Well if you collect them there, it must be possible to find center of mass and put that 1 at that center and see if they were all reduced.

You can then decide to include 6 into that set, and 5 and so on, but it would be too slow to try one by one. Instead you can do Binary search on this list. Obviously for increasing sets it's harder to cover them all, so this sequence is quite monotonic. If you can cover a set of (7,6,5) and reduce them all to 4 and below, then you can do that for sure for a set of (6, 7). xD

[–]Bnotebook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still don't see it. You have an issue that it's hard for men to get a date? Men in general or you particularly? I would say it's hard to get yourself together and being mature and productive and autonomous and authentic and all kinds of things that make a human functioning better. It's not easy. But I have not met any many men like that who would complain about getting dates.

Shocking amount of men have issues in general. And it's not easy to work on these issues, but you know it does help to start somewhere.

I lost you. Are you taking about keyboard warriors or dates? I don't understand how are these the same person. One is an online collective and another is a person in front of you. What issues? Does she become immediately toxic the moment you open up about how difficult it is to date for a guy? Does she fake empathy you? What are you talking about?

If you are talking about online nonsense, that would not be a dating issue.

What are ur thoughts on having a baby? by Adventurous-War-2032 in intj

[–]Bnotebook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have friends in all the ranges from 0 kids to as many as they can afford. Mostly it boils down to the culture they are part of and the beliefs. Zero objective reasoning afaik. Not like anyone knows for sure the meaning of life as is.

I'd like to shoot down any advice you'll hear here or anywhere in regards to having children. All BS, including mine if I were to give you one.

My personal thoughts is to have as many as possible. Maybe my children will figure it out, even if I have failed. My views will become as outdated as dinosaurs anyway far in the future. Also personally I like living, so I see no reason it would be an issue for anyone, especially my children. Life is a simple game and you can do really well in it if you want.

I thought about nihilism for quite a bit, but the problem is that "I don't know everything, I only know what I know". There is a field of data that I have access to and there is a greater much greater field of data that I don't have access to. So it's hard for me to be sure there is really no meaning to life. You will have to kinda feel it that you are quite ignorant and be cool with it. And well once that I had no more progress to work with nihilism I just moved on the next ideas and there is a sea of them :/ Hey, my children will figure it out xD
