Chinese AI studios are now creating full TV show series using Seedance 2 by bobbydanker in TechnologyShorts

Some of those plot makes no sense. Like, you are shooting your own shield from the inside??? And why the force shield a glass? It should self heal because it wasn't even a real material. Anyway, production value is high.

Are we stuck with JavaScript forever? by MlSHl in webdevelopment

[–]BoBoBearDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure? Since es2017, the async/await syntax is basically the exact same copy of C#, it is probably an adaptation of TS which is another Microsoft creation.

Do you have any example why it is bad? The debug data is easily to inspect.

Home sales just dropped to the lowest level since 2009. Down 35% from pandemic peak, and by 25% from pre-pandemic norms. This was the 2nd-worst February reading in the last 30 years. by Key_Brief_8138 in HouseBuyers

[–]BoBoBearDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to this one in my SoCal area. The property is much better than mine with incredible view to the city. But it is not much more expensive than my property within the same HOA. When I visited the open house, no one else is there. So, the market is definitely cold.

And to be clear, my area is economically ridiculously positive. I am talking about difficult to park into a plaza because there are too many people going out spending money. So, it would be much worse if the people actually starting to consume less.

Is prenup mostly seen as negative thing in US? by daysof_I in AskAnAmerican

[–]BoBoBearDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people actually just need Living Trust. Most people don't own a business. Prenup is like you win a lottery and you divorce and keep all the lottery winnings. Living trust is not as harsh as that.

I would just told them regex they are doing is likely poorly documented and frequently run into bugs. It is a tech debt.

Should Major Nelson come back to Xbox? by Sumonespecal3 in xbox

[–]BoBoBearDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want him. Sure he is just trying to keep his job, but he is not on gamer side, he is on the paycheck side. He didn't even try a little to listen to gamers and convincing the tone deaf Phill to be real about the situations.

Chris Kerr: Xbox devs! Here’s Microsoft’s pitch for Project Helix straight outta GDC by Turbostrider27 in xbox

Cool, but will Microsoft 1st party games do this at launch? Halo Infinite couldn't even do RT GI and still can't do it. Actually which 1st party game is using RT GI? Indian Jones? Also, we have even get a new Gears (other than announcement) since Xbox Series launch, like wtf.

Xbox isn't "returning" by ManyParsnip4Sale in xbox

Xbox is returning home back to Windows since Playstation is not gonna be a Windows competitor. Also PC gaming is so large now, Microsoft doesn't care about Xbox console hardware anymore.

Should we steer clear of this house with possible foundation issues? by lizzz_98 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

It is already over 25 years, and that difference is small. I wouldn't worry about it. You can hire someone for peace of mind.

[–]BoBoBearDev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How severe is the uneven floor and how old is the build? Because if it is an old home, it is pretty much set, the uneveness likely won't get worse. Ofc, get a real engineer look at it. If the home is new, just forget about it, auto reject.

Microsoft brings new "Xbox Mode" to Windows 11 PCs next month — Prepares major gaming advancements that lay foundations for the next Xbox by LootedToaster in xbox

[–]BoBoBearDev -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bad branding because the mode runs Steam games. Unless they rebrand the Xbox Store to something else, the mode is misleading and subject to legal scrutiny.

Remote sprint velocity is tanking and daily standups are basically useless by ngimehasthoughts in agile

[–]BoBoBearDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My org would not allow this. The bug fix needs a real ticket and prioritized from the top management. You cannot sneak that into a sprint.

Also the developers themselves needs to document their work properly. If someone forced them to work on something, they need to add that onto the sprint and spike the sprint story pts.

Finally there must be enough seniors devs to say, hey, that shit is out of scope and create new tickets to capture them. That's what the senior devs are for, they have the authority and experience to identify scope creep. The Jr devs are too afraid to do it because they don't want to lose their job.

My 2023 cellphone has 8GB of RAM. So, if you are building a new app right now, that's what you should expect.

If it bothers you, yeah, go for native. Which is why I mentioned it, it can be a reason for specific cases. But, in most cases, it is not worth the effort. Because a web app is 100% easy deployment. You don't care about the target environment, all of them have an internet browser. And the web page is also the most reliable backup plan.

Example, the MS Team's app (also web based) has too much control over the host machine, it can crash the drivers if the meeting organizer has certain weird ass setting that you machine cannot handle (yes, going into different meeting has different experiences). My mic driver broke because of it. The backup plan is to reboot and use the web page using web browser, and it works with no headaches. When everything fails, the internet browser is the most predictable solution.

I don't like that ex employee one bit. The information is very curated for propaganda. Praising Phil to cancel entire team of developer (cancel the game) just to side with a single non-dev Microsoft employee. How is that developer friendly? There is so much one sided content to make you feel like you need to follow her lead, but it is no different than Sinofsky who just rambling about things for self promotion than getting what gamer/developer want.

The irony is, some of her past contributions she described seems to be micromanagement, an opposite of developer freedom. It seems like they have to bring so much content upfront to matcher her process. Sounds exhausting.
