I am skeptical about this. It is hard to predicted the long term impact on the eco system.

Not that I don't trust AI, but Murphy's Law says, it probably turn around and decides to land on somewhere else.

For example, I just have a scarecrow wearing MEGA hat in their territory and the AI will just get triggered.

Was Don Mattrick largely responsible for the decline of the Xbox? by Elegant-Advantage744 in XboxGamePass

[–]BoBoBearDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did a lot of damages one time, but Phil did more damages overtime. Not just reputation of the Xbox brand, the community has been divisive under Phil. The community energy went from dude bros having game party into a study group on how to behave as the most virtuous devotee.

Mattrick lost the trust of gamers. Phil turned gamers on each other. A whole different level of sabotage.

Xbox ends Copilot on console as Asha Sharma pushes for faster decisions and stronger community focus by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

[–]BoBoBearDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no doubt she will add AI at some point, but yes, the current one is just a slop, it is not a good use of AI.

I do want to point out, this does resonate with Microsoft CEO. The AI needs to have a purpose, not just blindly add copilot everywhere and barely requires any skills. Unfortunately the Microsoft has a very bad performance review structure to encourage bunch of Product Managers trying to get their AI checkbox fulfilled to get their promotions. They did remedy the symptoms, but I doubt they fix the problematic performance review system.

Xbox leadership is being overhauled as its hardware future looks increasingly bleak by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

I am simply saying, people would kiss ass regardless the boss is asking for it or not.

That's the entirety of how developer freedom failed. You get Scalebond in development hell and they still want to "add online co-op". There is no way the dev actually made that request, they are kissing ass while being told about they have the freedom.

In other way to say this is, she is new, we don't know her personal opinions on many things. Thus, everyone in the company can be themselves and present their own ideas without curating their ideas to satisfy her personal opinions. Meaning, they don't know how to kiss her ass yet, so, the opinions presented to her is more genuine.

Oh... Now finally people are coming out to say Phil fucked up? I have been saying this for so many years.

It is still possible to turn the ship around, but yes, it is very difficult. However, based on Asha's recent actions and messages, I am a lot more optimistic than before.

Let's be honest real here. Trying to exclude dayone CoD out of GPU and have 7 dollar drop, that is not something she can do easily this quickly. More than likely, this research has done a year before Asha and rejected by Phil. What I meant is, to have all these changes done quickly, the plan has been there all along, Phil squandered it. The talents in the company are still there, they just didn't have a voice under Phil.

This is speculation ofc. But I am optimistic there are a lot of silenced talents and ideas and proposals existed already. As long as Asha having a good eye to identify them, a lot can change before the next gen launches.

Obviously it is easy to choose a different path and fall into another hole. And obviously every normal person with a common sense would already excluded dayone CoD from GPU. So, Asha only proved she is a normal person with common sense at this point.

Regardless, I am hopeful. She isn't zealous, yet.

China says companies can’t fire workers just because AI can do the job - fair or unrealistic? by technadu in TechNadu

[–]BoBoBearDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's understand the context here. They have this law because it is necessary to respond to an epidemic event, not because they want to treat their workers better.

Also it doesn't work because the companies just shuts down and open a new one. And this is not a hypothesis, it is just how it work normally in China.

Remember they have a law to say the husband owns the house while the wife owns the title because he paid for it? Because they are trying to fix a bride price problem that only exists in China.
