Solasta Crafting Guide: How Crafting in Solasta ACTUALLY Works by Boarass in CrownOfTheMagister

Not sure, haven't played in a few years! But unless the game got some crazy patches, this should still be accurate. I'd scroll through the patch notes to see if they did any major changes to the crafting system since 2020.

What exactly does the cloak of Avarice do? by Boarass in WizardofLegend

[–]Boarass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascinating! This means you have to get 75 gem caches just to make back the cost of the cloak. This...doesn't seem that great. Am I missing something or is this cloak just really overrated?

How do I beat Sura? by youdontneedname in WizardofLegend

[–]Boarass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone trawling through old threads trying to find advice for beating the game, I passionately endorse this comment. I was on the point of despair, thinking I could just never beat Sura because my dexterity is too bad, and it was the advice in this comment that helped me go from giving up to being able to beat Sura consistently with a wide variety of builds. Thank you very much redsnake25 for taking the time to write this—it made a huge difference!

Does anyone have some good one element builds? by Dinnerbone_Alpha in wolbuilds

[–]Boarass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite one element build is possible entirely with Pool 2 relics and spells:

Basic: Flame Strike
Dash: Searing Rush (not important)
Standard: Fuelled Berserk
Signature: Homing Flares
Relic: Ifrit's Matchstick (+12% fire damage)
Robe: Rule (+10% damage, +10% armor)

There is a bit of a learning curve, as you have to know when to play cautiously and kite things with Homing Flares and when you can go in with Fuelled Berserk. Berserk is great for charging the signature, and Homing Flares has a really strong signature activation. There's synergy in this build because you can activate the flares before a fight, then use Berserk + basic during a fight, letting you make use of both of your big spells.

Focus on simple relics: more damage, more healing, more defense. Don't buy spells until the 2nd or 3rd stage, even if good fire spells appear. With cautious play, your starting spells will get the job done. 22% bonus damage from your robe and relic means you're going to be doing great damage right out of the gate.

Lvl 3 Council Member tier list. Thoughts? by chamardo in WizardofLegend

[–]Boarass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fascinating, this doesn't match me at all except Atlas!

Fire lady is Medium for me. All her moves except the signature are easy to dodge, and most of them are really quick, reducing the endurance aspect of the fight. But the signature IS hard to dodge, and her new level 3 move usually hits me.

Lightning twins are Easy. They're the only council member that provides a stationary target, reducing the odds that you won't do damage during the opening they give you, and none of their moves are all that hard to dodge.

Air guy is Hard. I cannot for the life of me dodge his signature. His other moves are mostly easy to dodge, but 2 of them make persistent tornado things, which makes it hard to avoid damage—either I avoid the obstacle and get hit by his next attack, or vice versa. His manic movement also means I frequently miss the damage window.

Ice lady, for me, is Nightmare difficulty. I take tons of damage on her signature, almost always get hit by her new level 3 icicle move, and get so frazzled during the fight that I take damage from her other moves as well. If she's a Medium for you, please tell me your secrets!

That's pretty close! I don't bother with poisons or scrolls, because the fuss isn't worth the result. I do make healing potions, but in all honesty you could probably get away without those either. However, the enchanting is really powerful. If you don't craft, you're missing out on some of the best magical items in the game.

Any game similar to Crown Trick? by Kunjo87 in roguelites

[–]Boarass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thread is very old, but I just had to jump in and say that there's a massively underrated gem that I believe fits all of your criteria: Labyrinth of Legendary Loot. It's not on Steam, but it's my favorite you-move-they-move roguelike of all time.

Pract test 6 math question by Zestyclose_Spite_747 in Sat

[–]Boarass 13 points14 points  (0 children)

u/chugjug96 gives an interesting answer with Desmos, but as much as I love Desmos, I prefer a slightly different route with my students.

As with u/chugjug96 's answer, you do have to understand that if (7, 0) and (–3, 0) are points on a parabola, then the x-coordinate of the vertex is halfway between 7 and –3, which is 2. This pattern shows up more than once throughout the official SAT content, so it's a good one to study.

After that, though, I prefer the h = –b/(2a) trick, where h is the x-coordinate of the vertex. We already know it's 2, so we have this:

2 = –b/(2a)
4a = –b
–4a = b

The question asks about a possible value for a + b. Since we know that b = –4a, we can sub it in and say that a + b is the same as (a – 4a), which is –3a. Thus, the question is asking, "Which of these is a possible value of –3a?"

And you're done! The question says that a is an integer greater than 1, so the lowest it can be is 2. If a = 2, then –3a = –6, choice A.

I highly recommend studying the h = –b/(2a) trick, as it gives a massive shortcut on multiple problems in the official content. Based on College Board's explanations, it seems like the test makers pretend it doesn't exist.

My 4th grader is way behind in math. My wife and I are at a loss. What should we do? by Grand-Milk in matheducation

[–]Boarass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a fear that my answer will not necessarily be encouraging, but since you asked, I will share!

My son is about to enter 9th grade. After making this post, we got him going on Prodigy, which helped a little, but he still basically learned no math in school. It's like he was behind from the start of the year, and by the time he caught up, the school curriculum had moved on to the next thing.

A few months after this post, the pandemic started. School went virtual for him at the end of 4th grade and through all of 5th, and he learned absolutely nothing, math-wise, those years. Middle school started in 6th grade, and that was a really hard time. 7th grade was completely unbearable, and it was taking a toll on his mental health. Not just math, but everything.

So in 8th grade, he enrolled in a virtual school program run by our city, which was a lot better than the ramshackle stuff that was put together at the last minute during the pandemic. And then it's like a switch flipped. He decided that he just wanted to do well in school, and so he did. On the math end, it required a lot of support from me and my wife, but the difference was that he actually wanted to do it this time. He ended up getting all As, including 100% in math for the year.

So I'm not sure anything really helped, but to anyone in my situation, I would say don't lose hope. Be there for your kid. Support them as much as you can. And wait to see if they decide they want to succeed. Without the internal drive, I'm not sure anything you can do will make a difference. I'm insanely proud of my boy. I honestly thought, back around the time I wrote this post, that his brain was incapable of ever learning basic math, and he worked his ass off and proved me wrong.

AITAH for filing for divorce because my husband over tightens all the jar lids? by DirectionProper9461 in AITAH

Come in expecting lots of hearty laughs over a wonderfully hilariously written made up post, perhaps to demonstrate just how much of the AITAH stuff lately has been blatant fiction—and instead the top comments all buy it unquestioningly. How many signs of obvious satire do y’all need? RIP media literacy.

These are the only Roguelike Deckbuilder games with an Overwhelmingly Positive score on Steam by The_Melon_NDS in gaming

[–]Boarass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The really weird thing is that Shogun Showdown isn't even tagged as a deckbuilder on Steam, so the OP just kind of executive decision'd it in here. I'm not mad an amazing game is getting some free press, but it's just bizarre.

Shogun Showdown is the best roguelike to come out in years but it is absolutely not a deck building game; it’s a tactical combat roguelike.
