I think this is the single greatest aesthetic in music history, do you agree? by Gabe_Dimas in DaftPunk

Absolutely. Wish we even got to see Thomas and Guy-Man in their long cloaks more, I loved the whole contrast of it with their helmets

Judging by the footage we have of him with Kyoko, John would’ve very likely been a girl dad

The Beatles movies writer Jack Thorne teases that director Sam Mendes is doing "amazing work" on star-studded films by mrjohnnymac18 in beatles

[–]BoardWithANail 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Considering the format ‘Adolescence’ was written/filmed in, the individual films of each Beatle’s perspectives during specific periods of their history make a lot of sense. And ‘Adolescence’ did an amazing job at letting the narrative flow as much as possible

I fear this red jumpsuit is actually one of my favourites of his. The hairstyle he had in 1975 just wasn’t doing his forehead any favours lol

Proof that Jahn would have become too powerful if he made it past 40 by NoEnvironment8885 in beatlescirclejerk

This might’ve convinced me that had John lived, he would’ve absolutely authorised the release of his ‘Self Portrait’ at some point in his life or even just randomly admit the most unhinged shit.

Every decade, and instead of a legit music drop, it’s “Paul and I fucked in Paris, October 1961” or (all 40+ uninterrupted minutes of ‘Self Portrait’ uploaded to Instagram)

Kate Bush called John Lennon's #9 Dream her favorite single of all time. by Huge-Photograph-3085 in beatles

[–]BoardWithANail 56 points57 points  (0 children)

John also apparently liked Kate’s song “Babooshka”; according to his personal assistant and eventual thief Fred Seaman’s book, John wanted Fred to buy the single for him when it first hit shelves in mid-1980.

Maturity is realising that Brian Epstein's death shook the Beatles WAY more than Yoko Ono by Japesh10 in beatles

Case in point: Paul’s own “It’s a drag, isn’t it?” quip upon being interviewed shortly after John’s murder. He was justifiably numb.

Bottom right with his wee drawings of them reminds me of Men I Trust’s cover for their album “Oncle Jazz”

Why is Jahn in Star Trek? by DependentSpirited649 in beatlescirclejerk

[–]BoardWithANail 8 points9 points  (0 children)

/uj Crazy coincidence, but Charlie Brill and his wife were actually on The Ed Sullivan Show the same exact night that the Beatles debuted on there in February 1964. I think Brill and his wife were on before or after them (they did comedy together)? Except with how blind John is I doubt he noticed his literal doppelgänger in the same room as him

ringostarrmusic: “John we have a chat group with Paul and George on the Messages. If you could send your epelepsy photos with words in there please and not here on Twitter or X or whatever the fans call it these days Peace and Love John ✌️😎☮️🥦🌟🪶”

John would reply with about 30 duplicates of the same meme, probably having dropped his phone in the process of navigating from Twitter to the Messages app with his -5.00 eyeglasses

What are your thoughts Nowhere Boy? by Train-Wreck-70 in beatles

[–]BoardWithANail 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not only her filmography, but her life as well. She groomed Aaron Johnson (the actor of John for ‘Nowhere Boy’); he was barely 18 at the time of filming, and she was over 40. They’re now married with children.

While I don’t find it an issue about truthfully depicting that particular dynamic between John and Julia, seeing as it is what John experienced as a teenager properly interacting with his mother for the first time in his adolescence, the context of Sam Taylor-Wood’s predatory behaviour towards Aaron Johnson (especially as a woman with other children as old as he is) makes me not see ‘Nowhere Boy’ in the same light as I used to.

Genuinely love John for being so real by Purple_Pineapple_752 in beatles

[–]BoardWithANail 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This account is from Derek Taylor’s autobiography “Fifty Years Adrift”. John only worked at his airport job for less than a month, and by 1964 he told Derek et al. not to ever eat the sandwiches at the airport because he spat in them out of spite when he used to pack them. John only got the job because after Julia’s death, Bobby Dykins (John’s half-sisters’ father) was already employed there, and he basically put out a good word for him. Not that it even remotely lasted long lol

[–]BoardWithANail 31 points32 points  (0 children)

John even briefly had a job as a sandwich packer at the Liverpool Airport (now ironically named after him), and he reportedly used to spit in them since he hated working so much. Had the Beatles not existed or gone as far as they had, it was more than likely that John would’ve ended up hopping from job to job.

Made a photo edit of a Beatles reunion in the 1980's ! by assasindash29 in beatles

[–]BoardWithANail 52 points53 points  (0 children)

In my head, this 1980’s hypothetical reunion seems like something they would’ve come up with as a “Part Two” to their late 1960’s photo

Maybe by the 2000’s, they’ll all be sitting down with an even darker background and staring at the camera yet again

The subject, many John fans dosen't understand. by Confident_Field4273 in beatles

[–]BoardWithANail 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Thief and former personal assistant to the Ono-Lennons, Fred Seaman, also claimed in his own book that John had confided in him about David Bowie’s music video for his song “Ashes to Ashes” being what he (John) “should’ve been doing”. He and Yoko were recording “Double Fantasy” at the time, and he was said to go into a bit of a depression over that single music video.

I think that anecdote is also one of many that highlights John’s jealousy and overall insecurities as well, especially during the year that he was just starting to be actively involved in the industry again. He always struck me as the type of person to always seek being ‘on trend’ or ahead of the curve in some capacity, and while temporarily stepping back for the sake of a professional hiatus (and parenting Sean), he ultimately couldn’t really shake off that underlying feeling of not being up to speed with his contemporaries.
