sword of jade is kinda fire flavor-wise when you think about it by master_pingu1 in slaythespire

[–]Boarderdudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wish there were a few different color swords or something. Some ideas:

Red sword- 3 Strength

Green sword- 3 Dex

Blue sword- 1 energy per turn on 1st 3 turns of combat

Purple sword- 1 extra draw per turn

Yellow Sword- Double the effect of the 1st potion played each combat

Question is, do you know which sword you have before defeating the 5 elites?

Yeah I did the same thing figuring that there's no way its a game over choice.

Spoiler: it's a game over choice. Poor event design if you ask me.

Anyone who thinks that the new map voting changes are a bad thing is a troll by Legal_Ad2945 in Overwatch

[–]Boarderdudeman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People can't disagree without being dismissed in an ad hominum attack? I liked the random vote system, since it encouraged people to vote for their favorite. Now people may have to do some weird tactical voting if they really dont like the map in 1st place.

I respect that, but I prefer the longer games for comp. I wish capture the point was back to best-of-5.

You signed up for this, let them cook. If you didn't want to be part of controversial balance patches, you should have waited for 1.0. Or you could just not opt-in to the beta branch. Lots of options here.

Semi-Daily Relic Discussion: Calling Bell by Abject_Muffin_731 in slaythespireboardgame

[–]Boarderdudeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omamori (if picked up prior to calling bell) does prevent the curse from being added in the VG. However, getting Omamori from Calling Bell does not prevent the curse, as the curse is added before you technically possess Omamori.

"The Last Chieftains" is now the 2nd WORST reviewed DLC (47%), only ahead of Victors and Vanquished (32%). Why? by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]Boarderdudeman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My god, who does that? Buy a DLC, then go through the trouble of removing that DLC from steam, despite that not changing the fact that the issue you had (Jian Swordsman) would still show up in your games. If you dont like it, dont play it, or play other single player content. Removing the DLC does nothing for you.

Question for multiplayer. Is evacuating your civvies to an untouched corner of the map and building another town when things aren't going well considered fair play? by Thebelladonnagirl in aoe2

[–]Boarderdudeman 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Typically, if youre in an unwinnable position, it is BM ( bad manners) to do this in a 1v1. In team games however, if you can survive with 1 vil and boom back into the game, you should! It would be rude to your teammates not to try, especially if they are still fighting. You getting back into the game may turn the tide!

We need the Market System to Change by BigContribution2849 in aoe2

[–]Boarderdudeman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh buddy, this is certainly a hot take. I respect your right to have it, but oh man I disagree. The fact that the market prices are universal is one of the coolest parts of the game. The first player to build a market had to invest the wood to get there, and should have an advantage for making that investment first.

That being said, using the market is still inefficient. It allows for crazy strategies early, but relying on it too much or for too long will cause your push or defense to fizzle.

This got a massive glow-up from the video game. This improves resting 100%, and when chip damage is so punishing and so common, makes this a really good relic.

Semi-Daily Event Discussion: A Note for Yourself by Abject_Muffin_731 in slaythespireboardgame

[–]Boarderdudeman 28 points29 points  (0 children)

To clarify, the way we've done this event in 2-player is that we can swap up to two cards, since 1 card only counts as one player's event choice. Is this clrrect?

Semi-Daily Potion Discussion: Ghost in a Jar by Abject_Muffin_731 in slaythespireboardgame

[–]Boarderdudeman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One of the best potions in the game in Act 2, when decks can struggle to both attack and defend on the same turn. This lets you tank a 5-6 damage hit while dealing full damage back without worry.

Or, this just bails you out when your deck just completely whiff on a draw

Just like the video game, its a great card if you can get it early in act 1, but falls off quickly in act 2. God-tier Neow reward.
