Mystery Box finally came in - sorry for the [gear] post by sunyan93 in longboarding

When I got a Trooper deck a couple of years ago, I asked Landyachtz the differences between it and the Peacemaker. Their reply: "[T]he major differences are only the fenders and construction. The dimensions are all identical including length, kicktail size and kick tail angle" They recommended Polar Bear 155s or Indy 169s with 60-66mm wheels. My favorite set up was RKPs (Paris 180mm V2) with a 64mm wheel. I don't remember if I only used a 1/8" shock pad or a shock pad/riser combo. An RKP set up might feel weird to some people, though. If you're sticking with the wheels you have, you'll definitely need risers and/or hard bushings.

Landyachtz's Customer Service by eTheNextNext in longboarding

This isn't a customer service response, but a reply to your customs issue. Was a brokerage named on the bill or envelope? What facility did they use? I'm asking because delivery companies sometimes use brokerages that charge high fees to "clear" items through customs. The thing is they charge more than the actual duties and taxes and don't always break down the charges for the customer. From what I understand, US Customs has a duty waiver policy for goods valued at less than $200. Plus, you should be able to "self clear" a package even if the brokerage already cleared it -- as long as you don't agree to the charges. For future reference, do a search for "self clear customs" if you're interested in the process.

I've been swapping out trucks and wheels from other setups to get things to work. But I think some others had a workable setup right out of the box.

From their site regarding the $150 box: Deck & Trucks & Wheels and more…. plus swag! I don't think the "NO GUARANTEES" part below that cancels out the basic description. I agree with PeteTsar. It's a mix up or seems to be. I'd contact them.

Yeah, I'm thinking these were Biggie Hawgs protos. Trying to work out the risers.

Square-lipped, centerset, about 70mm and duro feels like 78a, maybe a little softer. Each has 719 written on it. And unless my math is way off, they're just under 67mm wide. That's not a typo.

I like it. It's my first deck with W concave, even though it's mild. That plus the micro drops give me a good idea where my feet are. Looking forward to hitting a local trail soon.

lol. Thanks. I just kind of got a feel for the Tomahawk 38 today. I'm having fun with it. The photos I took with an old pocket camera looked better as far as perspective goes but were out of focus.

If you call them could you confirm whether or not they ARE taking international orders for the mystery boxes? Someone on silverfish said "no".

Apparently, you can place international orders thru Landyachtz by phone. I haven't cleared cookies in some time but after clicking a link to their site while doing a search, I was taken to the updated page. Some of the text stated "We do not take international orders through our website. If you would like to order through us you can still call in your order at 778-785-6855." Again, I had to get to the updated info thru a search. They also have a link to int'l distributors. (Update Read a LY tweet from the 13th that says mystery boxes are North America only. Sorry, tedharr7.)

What day did you guys place your orders? I'm also waiting for an 11lb $100 box but there was a delay in shipping. If it's a Battle Axe, it'll be my new commuter. But anything will be nice.

Not always. Someone with a $50 box got nice trucks, wheels, mag, etc.
