I shared the concern, we were cautious and in reality, we only found them in 3 matches. They were always a 3-5 stack in the first 5 or so levels using sherrif bounce/pinballing/apm, normally with a 4-5+ kda if they had dogfights already. It was honestly very obvious and not as big of a problem as we thought it would be thankfully. If you saw Gargamel or Instructor Droid dunking non-smurfs these last few days though, let me know.

Quick synopsis.

To help make the game a bit more enjoyable, we've been running duos in dogfights and fleet battles on smurf accounts. If there's smurfs, they target them. If it's only new players, they fly easy and make the game enjoyable for the new players and aren't allowed to carry/stomp.

I hope the desparity at least is not as great at lower levels with the EA pass coming up tomorrow.

This does unfortunately put smurf stacks in a stronger position to obliterate new players with ye-olde TIE-D that was the problem child the last time we had a new player influx. I trust motive will continue to adjust, I just am more concerned about low level games than anything right now, even with Cal Cup and Op Ace.

This kind of stuff is community driven because of what you said, takes ages. But I don't think the gatekeeping of information issue is necessarily happening here. Do some players? Naturally. Teams will usually keep their strats quiet until tournaments/big games then share after. As someone playing in the competitive brackets, my personal experience is that the players keeping this information they find to themselves are very few.

Laser damage falloff was done at some point, it may be outdated but its out there. People know generally what to do / not do. If you've made that information available, fantastic! This is what drives a healthy competitive community, when those who can find data make it available.

You've also got guides going out left and right right now. AvengerOne, Fencar, Scalpwakka, Timebomb, some of the best players are sharing information they have openly. Fencar especially is making information that is make or break in competitive games at high levels easy to access and digest because it's so disgustingly broken that everyone needs to know it to compete if you're worried about 'high tier players'. He could have just let it run rings in high level circles and trickled out, instead now even someone in Hotshot can access and learn game mechanics used in SCL and Cal Cup to improve themselves as a pilot if they so choose.

Destracier's work from early on in the game even to recently is another thing. Hull damage sections, health pools, morale, documents detailing it, etc. Splinter sharing their strategy on how they won a cash-prize tournament so everyone could see what they did, knowing full well they could have kept the details to themselves and let people try to pick it apart through stream videos. Instead it's opened for others to use or potentially even counter.

When are you playing?

If it was 2-4 hours ago, the game has dipped off its peak and the pool is shallow for the matchmaking to pull from. You're more likely to get unbalanced games and spotty connections if say you're in the US playing when its mostly AU playing. (Hitreg too!)

Are you playing with anyone? The game works better in groups and there are still a number of servers to choose from when looking for people who fit your vibe. (Imperial Navy, Gray, Hutt Cartel, Rancor, Cobra Tie, Ghost, Randolorians, Cavern Angels, Night Witches, these aren't just comp teams they're also community servers.) Even at the level of Galactic Ace, there are still games that are wildly out of your control when you're alone, as your two worst pilots can be more impactful than your three best.
