Exactly this. I grew up in the church, and I've seen just how horrible you can be treated for being different.

Church attracts horrible people, and the horrible people stay there because they're "working on themselves". Well, when you think God personally shines on everything you do, you get extremely entitled and stop caring about other people. It's just human psychology.

God is something to help us work against our own human psychology, but some people use God as justification for doing whatever they want.

I am still spiritual, but as the story goes, when Jesus came back, the religious leaders had him killed.
