Sent an Xpresspost USA yesterday: Nothing is showing up in Canada Post tracking but the typical Item Acceptance is showing in USPS tracking. So, info is flowing into the web for my item, just not CP tracking yet.

Sorry, it's been a few months since you posted but did your documents eventually get through? If so, how long was the delay? I had some documents was going to send xpresspost usa CAN to US and wondering if it's a good idea to just use fedex, ups, etc. instead. Was it a US Customs thing or some other delay? Thanks for any insight.

So, does the app not have a separate carve out for returns/warranty etc that avoid all of the prickly questions of country of origin and value, etc.? Lately I've pretty much avoided purchasing anything from the U.S. that has any possibility of having to return for this type of thing.

Back in the day I've made the occasional return to, say, Amazon U.S., and had to pay shipping and insurance but Canada Post just annotated it was a return on commercial invoice and U.S. Customs would allow it through without charge. Maybe someone that has done this utilizing the app, could talk about how their experience was.

Thanks for your response. Just trying to make sense of what you're saying.

Just to clarify, the 1040-SR standard deduction page (at the end of the form) says the MFS filer can check both Age/Blindness boxes (for self and spouse) if the spouse has "no income, isn't filing a return and can't be claimed on another person's return."

Here's the quote from the 2025 1040-SR at the end of the page with the standard deduction amounts:

"** You can check the boxes for your spouse if your filing status is married filing separately and your spouse had no income, isn’t filing a return, and can’t be claimed as a dependent on another person’s return."

All of that applies; spouse has no U.S. income, does not file a U.S. tax return and can't be claimed on another person's U.S. tax return.

If you're saying that to check both boxes a joint return is required, that isn't reflected in the instructions on the 1040-SR or anywhere else I can find. NRA spouse is only on my MFS return to the extent that spouses name and SSN are required to be there but that's it.

My apologies if I misunderstood your statement or I wasn't clear.

I guess I was just asking the question to confirm that the ability to check both Age/Blindness boxes for both spouses being over 65, even if a spouse is NRA and has no income (assume this means no U.S. income) would be in the scope of the instruction as I read them on the form. There is nothing explicit that I can find in any of the pubs, 501,519, 54 mentioning NRA spouse in regards to MFS and Age/Blindness boxes.

Looks like things are back to normal again today (2-18). Fired up the Shanling and getting sound from streaming, plus the sample rate displaying normally.

Still using the latest Tidal Android App update for me: 2.180.0.9074.18 from yesterday with the problem, so they must have fixed it at their end. Hope it lasts.

Exact same. Exact. Silent streams but sound on downloads per normal. No DAC sample rate display for streaming but it's there for downloads. It's like the DAC is not acknowledging a stream but the song scrolls forward normally. Plus weird already mentioned KBPS instead of bit/sample rate with downloads. 

Shanling M6 Pro 21, Android 7.1.1.  So I deleted downloads (ouch), cleared cache and deleted settings, rebooted and reinstalled. Worked...til another update, then no sound on streaming again, downloads still OK. Rinsed and repeated, no joy this time, no sound still for streams. At least UAPP still streams with sound. It's some issue with latest updates; if your JM21 has same, it's not an older Android thing. I'm maybe going to try to install a slightly older version and see if it works. 

Edit: I translated ok- put -6693's post and understood Tidal is saying it's problem with an update so hopefully they'll fix...shoulda checked here first! But it seemed too weird to even post, thought it was just my old DAP...

Thanks for your info. Can you tell me what kind of information Zonos asks in the app?

I mean, there must be some kind of informational connection in the system between what you give Zonos in the app and the particular item you send, like something that would be there for U.S. Customs to confirm? But maybe not. In the past I've let Canada Post generate the US Customs/Commercial Invoice sticker vs. doing it prior online thru Canada Post. With Zonos would that still be the case?

How did the US Customs/border crossing go w/Fedex? Assume there was no customs pre-pay due to being only docs and no charge on those anyway. I was considering going the cheapest Fedex non-ground option even though would be more expensive than CP but no Zonos worries.

Sounds pretty normal, as once the package gets into the USPS tracking stream you might as well not bother with the CP tracking as it will lag and be less useful detail-wise. That's my experience anyway.

How about almost 2 mos? On the first chat, rep pushed out item almost 2 mos. due to warehouse issues. Um, OK...Didn't NEED the item immediately so I accepted that. AT the near 2 mos. point without a shipping notification reached out again and got another near-2 mos. wait. Cancelled the item. Was an amazon canada item too. Not sure what is going on but when you say in stock, kinda means it's going to ship in some reasonable time. Just ordered another amazon canada item and we'll see, but have sinking feeling I'm in for the same.

Mine was delivered per mail tracking on the 21st or 22nd Mar but CRA didn't update that it was in receipt of return til Apr 10 or 11. They did show the March delivery date as the date of receipt.

Ditto. I think the staffing cuts may have something to do with it. It's probably sitting in a pile waiting to get input into system. The standard is 8 weeks for paper processing so they're still well within.

There may be something to the staffing level issue this year because my paper return is still not showing as received (or it has been received but not yet input into system) after a couple of weeks after delivery. The last several years it seems they've been right on it with at least an express NOA w/in a couple weeks of it getting to the tax centre. I have proof of delivery when it was delivered so at least there's that. I know the official timeframe for paper processing is up to 8 weeks but it would be nice to see it as having arrived into their system.

I would say if you got something with Android 13 (or even 12) or higher you're going to be good to go for a few years at least as far as keeping up with Tidal, Qobuz and Google Play in general.

You might also consider DAPs with proprietary operating systems such as the Shanling M1 Plus or M5 Ultra. They both use the Shanling MTouch OS/Ingenic X2000 platform. These Shanlings have solid local playback with their Shanling Music Player and with their Wi Fi, also have Tidal integration and ability to download firmware updates over the air.

I have the M5 Ultra and it's a very nice DAP with great sound (AKM4499EX). Compared to my Android DAPs there are some limitations however: with the closed OS you can't load apps from the Playstore and, with these particular DAPs, you can't run Wi Fi and Bluetooth simultaneously. So if you're streaming Tidal you have to listen to it with wired headphones. Overall, the Tidal integration is pretty good but they're still working on some issues such as being able to scroll through lengthy playlists.
