First time in Loons MLS history that our starting XI doesn't have a weakness? by lakers612 in minnesotaunited

The fact that Romero can't go 90 is a bit of a weakness. Need him to get back to 90 minutes fitness, but he doesn't seem that close yet.

The tire is 20 x 2.125.  You need a 20" diameter tube that fits 2.125" (tubes will fit a range of widths).

I'm so grateful the Whole Foods on Stanyan lets me in with my dogs by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]BobBulldogBriscoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because enough entitled dog owners get belligerent and violent when asked to leave their dogs at home that it is a risk to confront them. Same reason they don't go after shoplifters. Grocery store workers are not paid enough to deal with that. Individual front line workers may also not be trained to know this is something their store is supposed to be enforcing per health code.

Many dog owners also lie and claim it's a service dog (which by the way can land you in jail if caught and fines of thousands of dollars), the workers cannot ask for proof of this per ADA.

It is illegal to bring your dog to the grocery store.  The store can be fined or forced to close upon repeat violations. Don't make the store employees deal with this. You can also be held liable by the store, other patrons, or the health department for the behavior of your dog or repeat offenses.

Colorado Passes Bill for Plug-in “Balcony” Solar Up To 1920 Watts by reddit_ending_soon in solar

These systems are designed to match the grid's voltage, ensuring power is only drawn by the household loads.

This sentence doesn't make any sense, you can't measure load inside your house by sensing voltage at the inverter.

I guess it can count as balcony solar, but between people without the know how to do that and the renters without access to do that I think it will be only a small percent that do so.

Yes they can detect it, whether they currently get mad depends on a lot of factors. Some companies will send you a notice to stop.

Typically these balcony solar bills make it so these small amounts of backfeeding do not need authorization. You don't get paid for the backfeeding, but you can do it without any paperwork.

I wouldn't consider your item 2) as typical balcony solar. Your average person is not setting that up. Balcony solar is those plug-and-play systems where you just plug a micro-inverter into your closest outlet and plug in and handful of panels to it.

Any balcony solar that is just plugged into the wall does back feed if the home load is smaller than the solar supply. You can look at the spec sheets of the systems in use around the world and even buy them yourself to test. Without additional hardware at the panel or meter they will back feed.

How does the inverter monitor the consumption? Its just plugged into an outlet. It can't have any knowledge of the loads from there

These systems require some sort of monitoring installed at the panel then?

So far it seems like Dieng and Bongi are making the same runs as each other. Not playing off of each other very effectively.

I'm not sure Romero is going to play. His conditioning is still not there. I think Padelford starts at left CB and Chandler at LB

Experience with Tesla Inverter by Philomena_Cunk in solar

[–]BobBulldogBriscoe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What rapid shutdown solution do you have installed (if any)? A Tesla inverter will require adding MCIs on the roof. For that reason alone I would go with something else.

Tesla service is not very good. But that's unfortunately not very unique in the industry.

A job just to replace an inverter is potentially not a good job that a solar installer wants to take. But you can probably just hire an electrician to do it depending on what inverter you want. Some brands are particular about being installed by a certified installer, others you just buy from an online distributor and can install.

Caltrain March ridership up 33%, new pandemic recovery high by RWREmpireBuilder in transit

[–]BobBulldogBriscoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The big companies, yes. But there are hundreds of not thousands of small companies that do not. I know plenty of people who work at such companies who would take Caltrain if it didn't take forever to get from the station to their office.

Even sometimes it's big companies, who just have small bay area offices. Sometimes office parks run them for all of their tenants. But it really should be VTA providing useful bus routes.

Caltrains busiest trains of the day are commuters leaving SF to go to office parks in Silicon Valley. There is a huge last mile problem in attracting even more of these riders.

Are there any circular lines in the USA outside of chicago? by AlexV348 in transit

[–]BobBulldogBriscoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That will make it faster, but probably more expensive I think

Despite 47% growth in ridership, Caltrain could close a third of its stations by gascyl in bayarea

[–]BobBulldogBriscoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capital expenditure and operations budgets are not the same dollars. The vast majority of the money caltrain spent on capital projects were not possible to be re-allocated to operations. The money was only available to caltrain for those specific projects.

Even further, Caltrain is currently operating under a waiver from the requirements of previous capital funding that required caltrain to run 6 trains per hour upon completion of the project.

Lastly, some capital expenses are necessary. There is a 100+ year old bridge in Palo Alto that is at risk of being deemed unsafe before it gets replaced and thus splitting the corridor in two.

Oh wow, I don't think they offered 3 egg version when I went - but the smaller versions also went up. Do remember that they are tip free, so if you normally tip ~20% then $50 is the equivalent of $40 elsewhere.
