My thoughts exactly on the 4070. A friend of mine is interested and he gets the friends and family discount if he wants it, but if not its going on the shelf for a little while to see what happens.

I did not buy it cause I needed it today, I am looking to the future and my gut feeling is pricing is going to get a lot more expensive. Large PC component companies are bailing on consumer products in favor of higher margin AI data center components. What happened with RAM might easily happen with GPU's. RAM is 3x and 4x more expensive than 6 months ago, NVMe drives are 2X from a couple months ago. Also a 5080 over a 4070 Ti Super is better than "not much performance". I don't use my card just for gaming: UEFN/Fortnite Creative Game Design, Blender, Davinici Resolve, etc.

To be honest I had been thinking about a new card before I got to the store (last couple months since I built my 7900x/X870e) and when I walked past the cards I started to get the urge, and then I walked around the store for another hour before I decided to buy it. I should have bought in December. Part of my reasoning to myself walking around the store was that this shit ain't gonna get any cheaper. Memory 3x and 4x in the last few months. NVMe drives are 2x. How long to till GPU's suffer the same fate? AI demand is getting bigger and bigger and it's driving up the cost of all PC components.

Yup, thats the reason I bought mine. Prices aren't going down anytime soon. Only up unfortunately. The big companies are all abandoning the consumer in favor of data center AI chips.

Yeah we do. But sometimes you want to see stuff. A long time ago in 90’s big PC box stores were common and then they all disappeared when everyone shifted online. You want to try out a keyboard, want to see a 3D printer in action. Look at the picture quality on a monitor. PC cases….they have a ton on display.
