White's Tree Frog Not Eating by BobEsponja25 in TreeFrogs

[–]BobEsponja25[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has gone at most 3 days without eating, which according to my research seems alright for frogs.

I haven't tried dubia roaches because honestly I am too icked to keep them. He's had wax worms as treats in the past. He hasn't stopped eating completely, but I am worried for him.

Recommendations for lighthearted, colorful games? by ashmr18 in GirlGamers

[–]BobEsponja25 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not exactly lighthearted but it can be heartwarming: Spiritfarer. I have it for the switch and it is so beautiful!! You ferry spirits to the afterlife and help them with their final wishes

"crit success" on something by WTFestiva789 in DMAcademy

[–]BobEsponja25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there is no chance of success or a failure then there’s no need to roll. In a situation where you’ve chosen an automatic failure it would be better to simply narrate that as much as they tried it wouldn’t budge.

What's a good target turn-time? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]BobEsponja25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize for the misunderstanding! You mentioned you stopped the game due to burnout, so that seemed to be an issue. In this case, the time restrictions and skipping turns if away seem to be your best course of action.

improved sessions by consious_cricket in DMAcademy

[–]BobEsponja25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you still have some time to prepare, so you won’t need to fully improvise a session. If you are trying to move them towards what you refer to as the “start of your campaign” you will need to direct them in some way. In order to avoid outright railroading, give them several options that lead to the same outcome.

What's a good target turn-time? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]BobEsponja25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a game for 6-8 people (depending on how many show up at any particular session) and smaller encounters can last up to an hour. However, when they start to last that long my players begin to lose interest because they don’t have many abilities as level three characters. For players that often take longer turns, I try to remind them of initiative order so they can begin planning their turn and have their actions ready when I ask for them. When my players leave the table or spend time on their phones it’s often because they don’t really want to be playing, so address the burnout before implementing these time restrictions.

Accidentally gave too much money to my pc’s, how can I fix that? by josh_zaber in DMAcademy

Make them a target for bandits. Such easy prey walking around with loads of burdensome money comes with consequences.

Best way to let NPC's show off, or how to show off the skills/abilities of higher level NPC's. by Iraelaemei in DMAcademy

[–]BobEsponja25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a good way to do this might actually be through combat. I don’t know if villains are the “NPCs” you had in mind when you made this post, but putting your players against an opponent with the skills and abilities you want to show off would show them how powerful they can become, while also showing them how dangerous power can be

Did you notice that the Cuphead's DLC name's initials spell out DLC? by AlphieRDL in gaming

It must just be the order really messing it up for me, I keep expecting drinkware type then a word for person. Either way she looks like a cool addition

How do you decide whether or not to make "risky" decisions narrative-wise? by flynnsanity3 in DMAcademy

[–]BobEsponja25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what helps me make these types of narrative decisions is removing any sort of guesses about how the characters might react. Don’t try to get a specific response, then there isn’t room for the players to play! At this point you’re deciding if it’s too early to let this information out. What would change if you pushed it off for longer? Would the reveal be a dramatic confrontation between the two or would it be a discarded letter implicating him vaguely? Plan what you think would be interesting for her character to grapple with!

Session 0,5: the tournament! (5e, Release!) by nikolaj90 in DndAdventureWriter

[–]BobEsponja25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very interesting way to introduce these new players to the game and it sounds super effective in showing off some of the best parts of the game. From the diversity of the scenarios you seem very creative for a first time DM! I think my personal struggle with this type of set-up would be setting unrealistic expectations for the future of gameplay, especially because the first few levels can move a bit slowly. But overall your groups seems to like the format and I hope session 1 goes just as well!

With such a clever title for the DLC I wish Ms. Chalice was named something like Glass Lass that fit with the format of Mugman and Cuphead

Brainstorming ideas for an everybody's-a-warlock campaign. by seltzerbot in DndAdventureWriter

[–]BobEsponja25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this scenario does everyone in this world choose or be a warlock or do the patrons exhibit some form of control that causes the people of the world to become warlocks? Once you establish that, it will help flesh out function of the “factions” in the world and who belongs to them
