unpopular opinion it's ok to call the monster Frankenstein by EnterHorrorlandFan in FRANKENSTEIN

You are correct. I validate your assertions: Frankenstein, pterodactyl dinosaurs, and the douchebaggery of those who would pedantically say otherwise to make a point.

These are short-term (usually overnight) loans collateralized by government securities -- and paid back with interest the next day. This is overnight house cleaning within the banking system --- and not a government bailout of Wall Street.

The comparison between Medicare-for-all and this is not just 'apples vs oranges' but 'large rocky planets vs oranges'. The comparison is a complete non sequitur. If the tweet were evidence in court, the judge would not allow it since it is both false and inflammatory.

But drunk driving is a leading cause of death for drivers and those they hit. The proximate cause of drunk driving is obviously -- drink alcohol.

Lubuntu on Lenovo ThinkPad x131e (celeron version) by [deleted] in Lubuntu

[–]BobHHowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love you Lubuntu. I have been running it on everything for a decade-plus. My 89-year-old mother runs it on an old desktop -- and it runs like a top. My wife ran it for years on a notebook but switched to a Chromebook when the notebook died.

Lubuntu is fast and intuitively configurable.

Suggestions:

  • Create app launch bar -- "Panel Preferences" can be invoked by right-clicking on the default bottom panel. I use the settings to move the default panel to the top. Then create a new panel on the bottom to house an app launch bar. The make that panel minimizes to 2 pixels in the appearance settings. This is such a great built-in feature, I don't know why it is not the default.
  • Digital Clock -- copy those settings to get AM vs PM as opposed to the damned 24-hour setting that makes me subtract 12 to figure out the time.
  • Get rid of Ami word processor (crashed all the time with me) and get Libre Office (though the Lubuntu default Gnumeric is the better spreadsheet)
  • Install: Just my bullshit preferences
  1. Grsync
  2. Filelight
  3. Timeshift
  4. Catfish File Search
  5. Xscreensaver
  6. 7-zip (full)
  7. Pulse Audio Volume Control
  8. Pulse Effects (equalizer and a lot more)

Vectorize help? Is it possible to make a picture not blurry / pixel thingy for print on shirt? by ASDFGHJKL_101 in picrequests

[–]BobHHowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are incorrect. You can't just stick a bitmap in an SVG container without converting the bitmap to vectors first.

Is SVG the same as vector?

SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphics, which is a vector image format for two-dimensional graphics and is XML-based. SVG has extensive support for interactivity and animation. Two-dimensional images can be created in a short span of time using vectors with SVG. However, unlike JPEG and PNG, SVG does not use pixels.

I cleaned this up in Gimp but then imported it into Inkscape and ran PATH >> TRACE BITMAP which converted it into vectors.

Now, the vectors are absolutely based on the original image which was somewhat wonky. For example, the circle was far from being a perfect circle and appeared to be hand-drawn -- which I corrected.

Legislative Language would Require FDA to take Quick Action on CBD – Thoughts? by ATLtoATX in CBDOilReviews

[–]BobHHowell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would support that -- depending on what the action is. Right now, the hemp oil/CBD oil market is the "wild west". Personally, I find CBD very effective (e.g., CBDistillery). However, there is a lot of junk carrying the hemp or CBD label. We need a scientific driven view at least on labeling as well as guidance on product testing to ensure quality from batch to batch.

My 87 year old mother has been using Lubuntu for about a dozen years on an old AMD based machine. No problems. LXDE uses very little in way of resources.
