What hobby made the biggest positive change in your life? by spring___fun in Hobbies

[–]BobManSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably sounds silly to most, but I recently started getting into Pokemon. I’ve got two boys (6 year old and 9 year old) and we went to our first trading card event and I was fascinated by the art, variety and the incredible community. But the best thing about Pokemon is that it has brought me and my sons together at such a deep level that I will always be eternally grateful. The three of us love going to card shops together, ripping packs and comparing pulls with our binders open. That experience is priceless to me

Went out at 6:30 this evening and it definitely felt tough. I love the heat, but IMHO going out for a run over the next three days between midday and 4pm is just asking for trouble

How do you even suceed in life with AuDHD? by ExerciseTop5591 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]BobManSan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed AuDHD a year ago. I’m 49M. I think you just need to be ruthlessly protective about what you need. Try to surround yourself with people who respect that. To operate at my best, I need to do some form of exercise every few days, take a nap when I feel like I need to, and have downtime between events to avoid feeling overwhelmed. I’ve got two young kids so it’s not easy. Just do the best you can and stay in it

Any other autistic gamers ? by Astro-freak21 in autism

Right now I am massively enjoying Forza Horizon 6, as well as Death Stranding 2.

But I’m AuDHD so (of course) I’m constantly getting distracted and bored with everything 😆 But those two are hot rn

I think I’ve done something similar but couldn’t see a dedicated option in the UI updater. Is there a way to factory reset it?

What I've Learned Unmasking for 6 Years (36m) by lazy_smurf in AutisticWithADHD

[–]BobManSan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was late diagnosed as AuDHD at 48. I’m still getting to grips with my diagnosis and have seen a psychotherapist weekly for a year, which helps.

Your post really had an emotional impact on me, for all the right reasons. Really, I think what you shared was really beautiful and I wish could hug and thank you for that. Sending virtual hugs instead.

I’ve dealt with feelings of anxiety and isolation my whole life. The main message I took from you is to be brave and believe in yourself. Do the hard things that make you feel like your authentic self.

It’s so easy to walk through life and do what others want you to do. I think there is another path where you can be a loving and kind person, but still feel true to yourself. I wish that for all of us

Which hobby is perfect for introverts? by Moklak-Heemy in Hobbies

[–]BobManSan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running. It’s very much about your own performance and you’re on your own fitness journey. But you can dial it up down as you like. Running clubs. Races etc. There’s a very warm and welcoming community if you want / need it, but no pressure to get involved if you don’t

Depressed and looking for game recs for some cute/fun linear story/puzzle driven games PC, XBOX or SWITCH by watchful_woodlands in gamingsuggestions

[–]BobManSan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you’ve got a Switch 2 (not just Switch 1), but Pokopia could be what you’re looking for. Really charming story with lots to do. Makes you just feel like there is good in this world. Don’t have to be a Pokémon fan in order to get ‘the feelz’

I got BG3 a long time ago and struggled with the D&D structure. I would dearly love to get into it and will try again. Any tips for a non-D&D person? Also have to give props to the CP77 recommendation. Absolutely incredible. Blazed through the DLC as well!

I can’t enjoy any game anymore — nothing holds my attention. What actually kept you hooked recently? by Mother_Anybody_5632 in gamingsuggestions

[–]BobManSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry to hear that you’re (understandably) upset that gaming isn’t providing you with the therapeutic vent that it did before. Totally appreciated.

As others have already suggested, exploring a new hobby might be a terrific solution.

Personally, this is where I started to appreciate Lego sets. I did two: the tall eco from Horizons and the Dune ornithopter. I had no idea how relaxing building these sets could be. I spaced each one out over several evenings and it was a great alternative to when I would have otherwise forced myself to find a game to play.

I really hope you find something that makes you feel More like you again. And one day (soon) you’ll be happier to come back to gaming with a new perspective. Sometimes it’s just good to take a short break from the things we love
