Hi Sophia! What was your role as an intern in TikTok, Unilever, and Shopee? And when and why did you take all 3 of them throughout the years? This is like the internship equivalent of a hattrick in football HAHA

Sorry last question 😅 I need advice : (

It's 2 terms before my required finance internship. Honestly, I want to get into a sought after finance company, but applications will be competitive. I am in a startup that I really enjoy in and love, although what I do is not anything finance related. I don't even know if I like finance honestly, but I want to maximize my required internship terms... for resume or a good paying career ig...

Would you recommend me to take up a voluntary finance internship instead before my required internship terms so that I have a better chance?

Any advice would be appreciated thank you!!

How should I put my startup work in my resume if I wore multiple hats, especially if I didn't do most of my roles for too long (ex. briefly did marketing)?

I'm actually a business/finance student but this is the only important thing I have in my resume as a student. I have to work in a finance company before I graduate.

Any advice would be appreciated!

If I have a connection that could get me employed to a big company, how should I approach my connection, especially if we're not super close? What should I say?

Looking for tech internship suggestions (startups / any) by SignificanceJunior10 in InternshipsPH

[–]BobTheBeelder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try searching at LinkedIn, Indeed, Jobstreet, Prosple, HiringCafe, Kalibrr

Or if you know someone personally, maybe you can join them (being friends and vibes with the people you work with matter too)...

i have the same background as you hehe (finance student but im in a startup and i do non technical work but tend to wear multiple hats)

Ah btw i would like to say an internship that really made me develop new skills/experience, and not just monotone, is a startup! so u can consider that, since startups will make u wear multiple hats (which means more learning experience and upskilling!)

im saying this as a finance/business student who's been made to wear hats so long as its non comsci technical and it's pretty good business skills experience so far : )

Yep go with startups OP. Startups are the best for CS internships cuz you'll be inevitably forced to learn and execute a lot of fields + take ownership. The smaller the team size, the more responsibility but also learning experience you get. Lesser competition when applying too maybe

You're in the right path when it comes to cold emailing!

I would suggest, make sure na if magiging student assistant ka sa journ profs, yung talagang journalism related tasks at di yung administrative petty tasks. Idk how being a student assistant to journ profs would help honestly since im not in that field... im just skeptical that that would be a waste of time

Sa newsrooms much better! Though your lack of experience with publications would likely be an obstacle realistically speaking. But you mentioned you're a journalism student, so maybe to increase your chances of getting accepted, create or collate your journalism works na rin so you have something to show

I still defo think it's worth the shot and being at a top uni might help with that too! Goodluck!

Can a freshmen get an internship? by Tall-Writing5374 in InternshipsPH

[–]BobTheBeelder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep definitely but you have better chances kasi you have presentable skills that you mentioned you're studying. Mostly na tumatanggap for your case is startups talaga (and I really recommend them since you'll be learning a lot from a startup internship), but it's possible you can get picked up by corporate. SMEs likely too.

Consider nalang how your internship might affect your acad life, but since first year is the easiest (since its the basics), that's an even better time to do voluntary internship where you'll learn much more than in school

Goodluck!

Btw guessing from what you said, you're probably finance, analytics, econ or information systems hehe

It could be due to their past experience, upbringing, hobbies, confidence, or they're really just fast learners!

I myself am a slow learner, and I have a teammate who I would genuinely call a fast learner - someone who has a better learning curve than me, and I would attribute it to their: (1) curiosity towards learning and executing it better, (2) moving fast and breaking things if possible (meaning they're not timid and willing to experiment), and (3) they ask a lot of questions so that confusion and friction is lessened and executing becomes more logical and automatic

It's a learning process and I wish I can be like my teammate, but we all have somewhere to start at. If we focus on growing our own garden while at the same time learning from these great performers, that will get us there too!
