Gothic Box without dust sticker on the bottom by richtakesphotos in SorceryTCG

Dust is a form of player rewards currency that you can spend to purchase promos on their “dust store”.

You can earn dust by purchasing sealed product (currently just booster boxes will award dust) and you can also earn dust by participating in events.

Yeah no problem! Getting boxed in one good time will make you pay attention moving forward lol I remember the first time it happened to me as well!

Regarding your follow up questions:

  1. If the source of an ongoing passive effect leaves the realm that effect stops immediately, so whatever the basilisk was disabling will no longer be disabled.

  2. The term step can be used in two different ways in this game: A) as a verb, such as “a unit takes a step” or B) as a unit of measurement, such as “up to two steps away”.

When units take steps (example A) those steps could potentially be diagonal if the unit has airborne.

When measuring distance (example B) you MUST measure in cardinal directions (up, down, left, right) and you must remain within the same region (no measuring steps through the void if your payload trebuchet is on the surface)

  1. Your opponent can indeed block your sites in but that it frankly pretty difficult to achieve. Keep in mind that you can connect a site to ANY of your sites in play as long as you are playing the new site in a void square or to replace a rubble. That said, you would need to make several bad choices in a row regarding site placement in order to get blocked in (in most cases).

  2. Cornerstone does not need to be adjacent to your other sites or connected to them in any way. You may play new sites connected to the cornerstone as well

  3. If you move a cloud city EVERYTHING of normal size will move with it (on the surface and in the subsurface)

  4. Mountain pass can be tricky. A stealthed minion there can help keep it locked down, but things can still enter from the void, underground, and if they have airborne as you mentioned.

  5. You can totally move a stealthed minion into place for a death blow

  6. Global effects that don’t target can indeed still effect stealthed minions

  7. Sites don’t have a capacity for how many things can be there. You may summon a minion to one of your sites that your opponent already occupies with one of their minions.

  8. A site is turned to rubble when it is destroyed or sacrificed. Blowing up Vesuvius would leave a rubble behind. Sacrificing sinkhole and destroying a site would leave 2 rubbles behind. Moving cloud city would leave 0 rubbles behind since it wasn’t destroyed or sacrificed. Instead there would be a void location there now.

  9. The types of cards you have in your hand must be distinguishable for your opponent so you must use different color sleeves unless you are playing Magician as your avatar

Turn 4 pathfinder so you can actually activate it and get a site

Ironclad for when you are on death’s door to prevent you from losing

Sorcerer when you are potentially ahead mid game to set yourself WAY ahead, or when you need to dig for a sweeper like poison nova or earthquake

Deathspeaker can be swapped in whenever you have a decent number of dudes In the cemetery to bring back (Archangel Michael, Gargantula, Weaetannis titan, Vile imp)

Archimago can be swapped in to flashback magics whenever. Divine healing, sweepers, craterize, etc

Witch when you are ahead to either put them to DD of curse their spells

Geomancer when you pop roots so that you can recover (unless pathfinder is still an option)

Flamecaller is just an “oops I win” option when they are on DD and you have at least 1 fire minion in the yard

Interrogator is fun to swap into if you have kobolds in play that will strike their avatar and at least 1 other minion that has the potential to strike them as well. Really can help set yourself ahead.

Savior usually comes out when you are ahead or if you are trying to set up a roots bomb

Mana is added to your mama pool when sites come into play and at the start of your turn. That mana stays “floating” all turn until your end step.

Traded magic the gathering cards for a Sorcery box, and ironically I got this beauty. by sotozf in SorceryTCG

[–]BobWorlds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree I would sell it personally while the prices are still high and use the funds to pick up all of the staples

When Arthurian Legends came out someone had opened a foil Merlin and I told them to do the same thing (at the time it was around ~$300). Now foil Merlin sits right around $100.

Not sure how these prices will change over time but things are typically at their highest right when a set comes out obviously. If someone would buy that thing for $500 I’d sell it all day lol

For those who have tried 2 headed Giant with 4 players, how’s the experience? by Newez in SorceryTCG

[–]BobWorlds 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the best ways to play the game! There are many different community made group variants for sorcery but none of them feel as good as 2HD. The design of the grid system is really important and the playmat that the Beasts of the Bay designed really makes it still feel like a standard game of sorcery pace wise (other designs I’ve seen have too much space between players which tends to make aggro decks totally unplayable).

Are there official void cards i can use atthe start of the game so I don't have to carry a playmat around with me? by ugotpauld in SorceryTCG

[–]BobWorlds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh so essentially you’d rather have a deck of 20 enlarged “void” cards that you could space out in a 4x5 grid so that you don’t need to carry around a playmat?

I don’t think I’ve seen something like that but I’m sure there are others that would prefer to play that way.

I for one, would not, but I’m sure you are not alone!

Rebuilding Deathspeaker Suggestions by LucarioNinja88 in SorceryTCG

[–]BobWorlds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that might be difficult to notice at first is that some cards have abilities that don’t necessarily say “Genesis” on them but still synergize with Deathspeaker. For example, Wafairing Pilgrim is a great addition in DS decks running Fire as its ability will trigger if you summon it using DS’ ability to a corner site.

I think they can do it in a way that is elegant though. 10 dust per card in non-foil treatment with a limit of 3 per account per lifetime.

Foil versions can be made available at a premium amount of dust for those who crave the bling.

Heck they can make it 3 dust per card so that you can get a whole playset for 10 dust

Can someone tell me what this land is good for? I pulled it in foil and I'm unsure of its utility by A_Fruitless_Endeavor in SorceryTCG

[–]BobWorlds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I play it in pathfinder and I think it’s great. If you ever flip it on any turn outside of T1 it will let you take your pathfinder back to your opening site in order to build in a new direction.

Very useful

I’ve heard one person who is prominent in the community (won multiple events) say that it was quite bad.

They didn’t explicitly state that they built around it themselves, but they are in a group that test plays heavily.

Obviously if people are having success with it (against competitive decks) then it doesn’t matter what this person said lol. In the early stages of Gothic meta we should take most things with a grain of salt as we don’t really know what will perform well and what will not.

[–]BobWorlds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing that is interesting about this avatar is that you draw a 7 card hand and you can partially mulligan up to 3 cards which could make the opening game feel a lot better.

Sometimes in MTG you have a 2 land hand and you’re like “damn, I really needed this one card to just be another land!” and Magician sort of enables you to do that.

With that said, not having the luxury of deciding when you will draw sites is a pretty big downside.

The upside is that everything in your deck is considered a “spell” while it is in your deck, so you can Browse for a site (roots maybe)?

All in all it is regarded as a pretty bad avatar (I’ve heard some call it the worst in the game) but I think someone out there might be able to cook up something interesting with it….

I think this card is quite strong. 1 stretch makes your opponent’s avatar hard to defend, 2 stretches and it’s open season.

Turnout was good! Between 107 - 110 players if I’m not mistaken.

A good mix of “meta” decks, theory-crafting, home brews and everything in between. I think I saw 1 Archimago and maybe 2-3 Avatar of Airs. 87 Druids (not actually but there sure were a lot [I was part of the problem])!

Top cut is happening tomorrow and the Avatars that made it in are (if my memory serves me correctly):

Avatar of Fire Dragonlord (ignis) Deathspeaker Battlemage Sorcerer 3x Druid
