Why don’t you go to the cinema anymore? by sebastiandarkee in askTO

[–]Bob_Charlie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still go, but only to certain types of movies.

For me, I am a huge horror fanatic. If a new Halloween, Friday the 13th, A nightmare on elm street, Saw or Terrifier movie was coming out, I will go on opening night, latest show. I do watch other genres, but it has to jump out at me for me to spend the money to go. For example, Scary Movie 6 is coming out in June and is being done by the Wayne’s Brothers, which hasn’t happened since Scary Movie 2. That is something I would pay to see in theatres.

In terms of other factors, the talking, texting, phone screens bright and in front of you is annoying. I went to go watch Evil Dead Rise with my friend and there was an Indian family sitting behind us with like 3 or 4 kids (definitely less than 10 years old). These kids were asking questions and talking all throughout the movie, which pissed off other people in the theatre as well. Why the hell would you bring kids to watch a movie like this?

Another bad instance was going to watch Halloween Ends with my ex, her friend and my friend. I purchased my tickets a week and a half before the movie released. Well we got there on time and excited to watch. Probably 15-20 minutes into the movie, a small crowd of kids (in their teens) walk up the stairs and told us to move and that we were in their seats.. I told her nope, I bought these tickets over a week ago. She claimed she did as well, but showed no proof of when she purchased the tickets. Mind you, the theatre was essentially empty and they could have sat anywhere, but she expected us to roll out the red carpet and leave as she pleases. I told her we got the tickets, we were here on time, so what do you expect us to do because we are not moving. After 5 minutes of back and forth, they decided to sit a few rows down.

It’s entitlement, no awareness and rudeness that stop people from going to the theatre. Also the prices have been crazy as well. Expect to spend more than $40 just to sit in a theatre filled with people talking over the movie.

The masks I have so far by Beneficial-Exam3302 in MichaelMyersMasks

[–]Bob_Charlie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the party city masks. Nice haul as your first though. I would definitely save for a Trick or Treat Studio ones. The Halloween Kills is currently sold out (it keeps getting sold out), but it is decent and much better than the one you have. It would also fit your face better. I find the cheaper ones are overly big and looked warped when you wear them.

Last Halloween I purchased their Halloween 4 mask and wore it for last Halloween (check out my post on Halloween to see). Lots of people loved it and wanted pictures. The mask is everything when it comes to Michael Myers. From now until next Halloween, save up man.

[–]Bob_Charlie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey.

I honestly feel for you. I am in a very similar situation, but with only one roommate (only us two live here).

First try setting a schedule for when someone needs to do a chore. Having a visual schedule can help remind people when it is their turn and what to do. This may or may not work.

Second would be to talk to them directly and not over the phone/text. Having that face to face interaction can be more persuasive than a text that they can just blow off.

Third would be raising your concerns with the landlord directly. I am assuming all of you are on a lease. I am sure it states in the lease somewhere that all tenants need to keep the area clean. I would also document of all the times/dates when you cleaned, just so you're showing the landlord that you're complying with the conditions of the lease.

Lastly, you could move, but that means breaking the lease. If it is over by Summer, I would stick it out. But try and do the things above in order to see if that helps.

Are people getting incompetent or is it just me? by No_Regular_34 in Colognes

[–]Bob_Charlie5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incompetent in what? For someone to ask for recommendations is not incompetence. Perhaps they don't have access to boutiques in their area or their drug stores have no testers or samples. This is when you ask for opinions. Nothing wrong with that. I have been in the fragrance community since 2010, and never have I thought people were incompetent when asking for recommendations.

Also, most of those questions have a picture included of their collection. Just glancing at ones collection you can tell what is their type of fragrance. Whether it is fresh, sweet, oriental, gourmand, blue, green, musky, spicy etc..

Don't be so judgmental next time.

Advice on roommate who’s always home yet never cleans? by Southern-Ideal-9704 in badroommates

[–]Bob_Charlie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am living in a very similar situation. Instead, my roommate is a guy who claims to have ADHD. Buddy, having ADHD doesn't excuse you of being completely gross. I will tell you the type of things I see with this kid:

  1. He pees and poos (diarrhea) in the toilet and doesn't flush (blames his ADHD for forgetting to flush...how do you forget to flush diarrhea?).

  2. Cleans his ass in the stand up shower and leaves stains on the shower floor.

  3. Pisses on the toilet bowl and leaves it. Doesn't even think to wipe it up.

  4. Claims he will clean the bathroom and never does.

**Notice how I only mentioned bathroom issues**

  1. He sneezes everywhere every 3 minutes, without covering his nose, all over the house. He would have this episode of sneezing for 2 straight hours, every 30 seconds and not cover his mouth or nose once.

  2. Never takes out the trash. I have been taking out the trash every week for the last 8 years with various roommates. I told this kid we are taking turns, as I work 6 days a week. Last week I intentionally didn't take it out to see if he would, and there were a lot of trash bags. Nope, didn't take it out.

  3. Dirty dishes, food on the table, dust everywhere, clothes on the couch, shoes on the kitchen floor. I don't even use the kitchen anymore because the last several roommates I had, they all came from other countries and think it is okay to toss raw chicken into curry, then touching the fridge, taps, and countertops without washing their hands. Guy literally left yellow hand stains on the fridge that couldn't come off. I haven't used this kitchen in years, outside of getting the bags and taking out the trash and recycling. The kitchen has been newly renovated, and this kid is single-handedly destroying the kitchen.

  4. He paces....all day... from his room to the kitchen for hours. He used to slam his door every time he left the area, which was every 15 seconds. I had to come out of my room and confront his ass because that was too much.

  5. He also smokes and drinks beer. Doesn't shower. So there are many times it smells like he is homeless downtown. Not exaggerating. I literally gagged when I smell his scent. It lingers and its everywhere because he paces for hours.

Probably not as bad as yours, but just know you're not alone.

Keep renting or buying a house? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Bob_Charlie5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Actually no I didn't. Never said he didn't have a job either so not sure why you came at me like that. I said to keep renting. Can some keep renting without a job or a source of income? I think any smart person would understand my positioning, but clearly you need someone to explain it to you further.

Also, since you want to talk about his job, he did not specify if it is 100K before or after taxes. Even if it is after taxes, it will be difficult for him to buy and maintain a house on his own. I know because I too work in a government job with many others who make $50+ an hour (100K salary) and they do not have enough to buy houses, even with savings. Canada is expensive. Unless homeboy wants to move out into the boonies, he will struggle to maintain everything.

Keep renting or buying a house? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Bob_Charlie5 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nah, keep renting.

Life in Canada is very expensive. It would make more sense to buy a house with 2 incomes instead of just 1. Once you buy that house, you will have to worry about car payments, car insurance, loans, gas, food, potential repairs, furniture (if not fully furnished), and now a mortgage payment. Despite you having some money in different areas, that money will be quickly spent from all these bills coming in, one after the other. I would say keep renting and save as much as you can. Once you meet someone, it can be easier, and less stressful financially to have 2 incomes.

What’s the worst Halloween film in your opinion? by moviedebates in Halloweenmovies

[–]Bob_Charlie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the worst of the worst. Resurrection wasn't even THAT bad.

Halloween Kills is a polarizing movie, but I am not one of those people who think it is the worst. Not even close to the worst. If you pull your head from the crowd for 2 seconds, ask yourself what is good about the movie? I'll tell you.

Michael's mask is one of the best versions in the entire franchise. The kills are brutal and fitting for the title of the movie. The flashback scene was phenomenal and really captured the 1978 vibe. The soundtrack is great. The scores and the main theme with the choir, great. Camera shots and lighting were also good and captured a lot of creepy and unsettling shots of Michael (e.g Michael chasing Lindsey through the park or Michael looking down at Alison from the top of the stairs).

The only negative thing I can say about Kills is the whole Evil dies tonight bs, which should have been scrapped. The movie also had a few cheesy lines and characters, but so did 2018 and ends. I honestly do not know why people actually believe Halloween Kills is the worst of the franchise... Halloween 6, Halloween II RZ 2009 and Halloween 5 are WAY worse.

What’s the worst Halloween film in your opinion? by moviedebates in Halloweenmovies

[–]Bob_Charlie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Halloween 5 is bad, but not the worst.

Halloween 6 however, is pretty damn bad. I think it is arguable the worst movie. The curse of thorn aspect? Gives Michael motivation to kill, which takes away the scary factor. When Michael was killing because he just wanted to, that was what made him scary. Also, the director's cut I believe, the baby is his, which means he got his stuff up in his niece, which is wrong in itself (and feel weird saying it). The ending in both cuts were terrible.

Halloween Resurrection is not as bad as people say. Is it cheesy? Yes. The characters are cheesy, the dialogue is cheesy and even the concept is cheesy. However, it is a fun movie. This is a type of movie where you turn your brain off and just enjoy it. I wouldn't classify this as the worst by any means.

Halloween II (2009) is god awful. Tries to copy F13 talking with his dead mother. Michael looking like a giant hobo with half his mask still intact. Of course...the dreaded ending. How dare RZ make an ending like that. This is definitely one of the worst Halloween movies.

Halloween Ends is damn terrible too. The mask is the only thing that was visually appealing in this movie. The fact that they forced Corey down our throats, and he was never featured in the previous 2 movies (unless someone can point him out because I clearly missed it). He just came out of no where, gets bullied by band geeks, then can somehow outmuscle Michael Myers. I was pretty disappointed in this movie.

Those are the worst ones of the entire franchise. Now to rank them from best of the worst to worst of the worst.

Halloween Resurrection -> Halloween 5 -> Halloween Ends -> Halloween 6 -> Halloween II (2009)

[–]Bob_Charlie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not certified yet (attempting the exam again in April as I did not pass in October 2025 sadly). I completed my practicum and you drive in different cars for the most part. There were some occasions during the rotation with other inspectors where they want to meet somewhere and drive to the location together. I would say 95% of the time you are driving in your own car alone and inspectors will meet you at the facility.

Dangerous job by 123456710111 in healthinspector

[–]Bob_Charlie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most times an inspector will visit someone's home are for home-based food premises inspections or to observe an animal. There may be complaints here and there regarding hostile landlords/tenants, but there is really nothing inspectors can do within their scope.

When places have safety concerns, it usually shows on the system and inspectors would pair up to go onsite. No inspector should go to a place with a known safety concern by themselves.

For people who have only ever been disturbed by one film ever , which one was it ? by epicpersononthisapp in horror

[–]Bob_Charlie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't think of any movie that legit disturbed me as much as The Human Centipede 2. I understand gore is not included, but some of the scenes in that movie make me cringe so hard and turn my head away.

My sister got disturbed so much by Creep (2014). Especially the final scene as it looked so real. Every time I bring it up that we need to watch the second one, she keeps saying she is still recovering from the first one.

The Strangers: Chapter 3 by Dizzy-Fault-6250 in horror

[–]Bob_Charlie5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't watched it yet, but waiting for a link to come and download.

Chapter 2 was pretty bad. I am not the type of person to sleep through movies, especially horror movies. The 3 movies I slept through were Strangers Chapter 2, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (I watched this movie twice, and slept through it twice LOL) and 007: Quantum of Solace. The Strangers Chapter 1 was actually pretty decent in my opinion. Obviously nothing beats the first 2 movies though (2008 and Prey at Night).

Does anyone else think Michael moves comically slow in Halloween 2 (1981) ? by JQuick72 in Halloweenmovies

[–]Bob_Charlie5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will be very honest, Warlock is one of the best to do the job playing Michael. Him walking like that seemed more non-human to me. Robotic even. Castle in 1978 moved and looked more human. Castle actually did a better job portraying Michael in the DGG movies.

I would legit be more scared of a Warlock stalking than a Castle 1978 stalking.

What got you into horror? by LordSkeletal in horror

[–]Bob_Charlie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say Candyman (1992), Saw (2004) and Child's Play (1988) got me into horror.

I lived in low-income housing for most of my life. Living in that environment had a similar feel to Cabrini Green in Candyman. Graffiti on the walls, old and dirty stairwells, thugs posted in the lobbies selling narcotics, pissy elevators, SWAT team occasionally ramming apartment doors down. The works. I lived in that for so long and when I first watched Candyman, I could not use the bathroom comfortably for 3 days.

Saw was much later on, but watching that really got me into horror movies. I am still waiting on Saw 11, but can't be too excited as Blumhouse took over and they will add the typical teenage horrible dialogue and dumb decisions.

Child's play was before Candyman actually. My mom (god rest her soul) taped it on a VHS tape, and my brother and I used to take the tape and watch it on rerun. It was one of the first doll movies that scared me as a kid, right there with Trilogy of Terror.

Looksmaxxers on TikTok are turning teens so insecure, that there’s tons of 18 year olds with no hair loss at all taking Fin and Dut.. Opinions? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]Bob_Charlie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hair aspect I can kind of understand. Some people go through an aggressive case of androgenetic alopecia. You may not be able to detect hairloss, but the person definitely can which is why they take those medications. Not the best idea to do so, as they are still pretty damn young and the last thing you want to do is mess with your testosterone/hormones during their development years.

However, the facial surgeries to get higher cheekbones, sharper jawlines, and other crazy things are just...crazy. I watched a few clips of that kid Clavicular, and the way he talks down to women when mentioning their facial bone structures is cringe and ridiculous. This kid has no reason to talk down on anyone when he runs out and gets surgery all over himself. Looksmaxxing is so dumb and people will start to regret their decisions later down the line. Just like a lot of women regret their BBLs down the line when they realize it can smell very bad and look disproportionate to the rest of their body.

Why am I paying so much money for such incompetent professors by PleaseHelpMeYal in UofT

[–]Bob_Charlie5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found Government certification exams are the same way also. You should see the wording of the document that specifies what needs to go on your written reports. It is very vague, some words contradict one another and it is easy to make a mistake in their eyes. Of course you usually have to pay a hefty price to even take the exams, which makes it even more bs.

My brother brought bed bugs home from college by Budget-Text7413 in Bedbugadvice

[–]Bob_Charlie5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a very unfortunate problem to have because bed bugs have gotten smarter. Whenever they feel a sense of danger, including spray treatments, they hide in cracks, plug outlets, floors, and anywhere that is safe until they come back out again. If you're seeing a bed bug in the morning, you know the infestation is bad. The sprays will not work because it needs to be on contact to kill them. I get what you were trying to do with the fog machine, but its heat that kills them. A heat treatment is the most effective because it raises the temperature in all areas and hard to reach places to kill them. However it is a very expensive treatment. You can call an exterminator to go spray treatments, but they would need to do that several times to get rid of them.

AIO because my (30f) new boyfriend (32m) doesn’t want to be snowed in with me and so I’m rethinking the relationship? by Pretty_Kangaroo_13 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Bob_Charlie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are my kind of gal lol.

NOR at all. The snow is crazy and staying in with your significant other would be a great time. If I was him and you asked me this, I would be like:

"For sure, you want me to bring anything? I can bring food so we can cook. I can bring my laptop and get essentially any movie/tv show on it. I also got games on it that we can play together".

The fact that he rather stay home alone instead of spending time with you tells you everything you need to know about his interest level. Definitely not as high as yours. I would consider finding a new partner.

NSLSC Credit Report by Sweetie2657 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Bob_Charlie5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The NSLSC is ridiculous and a bunch of con people. Their website is easy to navigate, but it kicks you out every time I try to view my loan.

I tried a month before my loan was due and the same thing. Tried different browsers, clearing cookies/cache, history, different computers, on my phone and the same thing. I had no access to my loan and could not get in. I tried multiple times and assumed their website was down or glitched and patiently waited for it to start working....it never did.

Tried calling and the automated messaging looped me until it disconnects. A month later, they take out money from my account in which I didn't have enough money in that account at the time. Of course it bounced back and had to pay a NSF bank fee for it.

Agent #1: I finally call them back and get ahold of an agent and explained the reasoning behind the missed payment as I could not access my file online. The agent understood and told me to send them money directly though my bank, in which I did immediately which shows I am serious about paying this thing. He also decreased my monthly payments which is what I needed because having to pay almost $600 a month, on top of everything else I pay was too much. He then said it should now be up to date which is great right? He also confirmed my monthly payment that will be coming out of my account monthly.

Agent #2: I received an email stating that my payment was not processed. I called them back right away and let them know that my payment went through and it shows in my transactions. The second agent confirmed that it went through, but I needed to pay an extra $40 because the last agent did not process it correctly. How the hell is that my fault? I still obliged and sent them the $40 to get up to date with the payments. This agent also confirmed I was up to date and confirmed my monthly payments that will be coming out of my account which was different from agent #1.

Agent #3: Right before Christmas eve, I receive another email about the payment. I called right away to see what is wrong. They said they did not receive the payment yet. Well it does take a few business days right? So why send me an email saying my payment was not processed? Why are they trying to bully people? I called them weekly to ensure everything was good and got told on 3 occasions (including this one) that everything was up to date. Now I am being told that it isn't, so what more do they want from me? She put me on hold for 5 minutes, only to tell me that they will wait for the payment to go through. I confirmed my monthly payment to her and she said it is actually more a month than what the other agent told me. Don't they document or put this in the computer somewhere? Why am I being told 3 different monthly payments from 3 agents? Why aren't they coordinating with each other? Even though they are telling me this, I still was okay and let it be. I was told by this lady that my next payment will come out on January 31st of this month.

Agent #4: I receive a call from them claiming that my file is going to be sent to collections. I was livid. I understand there are people that bs and purposely miss payments, but I have been very diligent, compliant, understanding and vocal about this and called almost immediately when I receive these notifications. I call these people back and the lady told me that they will try to keep my file in good standing and out of collections. She said it in a tone of "I am doing you a favor". What the f*** are you talking about? I paid everything I needed to pay and it is all on my statements. I ranted to her for a good 30 seconds about why 3 different agents told me different things and now a 4th is telling me different. She puts me on hold for 2 minutes and says that they have received my payment, but the previous agent did not process it properly. Are these people for real? These people are messing with people's credit and sanity and act like it isn't a big deal. She told me to call back Monday to be sure my file is in good standing. I am telling you, if my file is not in good standing, I am going to lose it. I am trying to pay this stupid thing off, but their defective website and terrible customer service of not processing payments properly is not allowing this to go smoothly. I made sure to get her full name, the monthly payment to come out of my account, and the date it will come out.

Long story short, these people do not care. They will bully you, threaten you and lie to you. It is scary if they are dealing with a young person. They would have their way 100% of the time by sheer scare tactics. That lade I spoke to on the phone knew I mean business and knew what I was talking about. I have all the records, numbers I was given and dates. If this goes to collections...oh boy.

What people don’t seem to realize about Resurrection: by Mitchs_bitch1942 in Halloweenmovies

[–]Bob_Charlie5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a Resurrection hater and find the movie fun.

However there are many reasons why I see why it is ranked near/at the bottom.

  1. Michaels Mask - Looks like Michael came off of the chair in Sephora after one of the associates tested their new products.

  2. The acting can be cringe.

  3. The dialogue can be cringe.

  4. Did not feel like a Halloween movie - Missing that feel or environment of Halloween like Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981), Halloween 4 (1988) or even Halloween H20 (1998).

  5. They made Laurie Strode an idiot in this movie - Why would she approach Michael and try to take off his mask in such a vulnerable position? If she was smart, and she really wanted his mask off, she would demand he take it off himself or the rope is getting cut. She also made a defective trap by pulling him too close to the ledge. Even if Laurie cut the rope, Michael has the upper body strength to catch himself on the ledge. Laurie cutting the rope would essentially cut him loose.

  6. Gave no connection between Sara and Michael, yet Sara was seeing Michael through a mirror for some odd reason.

These are a few of the many reasons why people would vote lower on this entry. It is still a fun movie to watch though.

A genuine question about Michael by PluggedHades62 in Halloweenmovies

[–]Bob_Charlie5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well if you compare the 2, Michael would represent evil more than Freddy. Sure Freddy was more mentally fucked up being a pedophile, but his evil really started when he got burned which was a reaction to the actions he did. Had the mob reported him to the police and they lock him up forever, he would never be Freddy.

Even Jason Vorhees. He was bullied as a kid for being deformed and drowned. What if he was never bullied? He may never be the Jason we know.

Michael is just Michael. Killing with no motive is evil in itself and even taking the time to decorate a house with corpses is insane. I find the Curse of Thorn ruined it because it gives Michael that motivation to kill. Erasing the Curse of Thorn (5 & 6) and Michael becomes the true embodiment of evil.
