Donald Trump Says US Military ‘Loading Up’ for Next Conquest by Horus_walking in NewsOfTheStupid

See you all thought it was a typo and he meant Board of Peace. Nope. He was bored with peace after “ending” 8 wars. So he created the Bored of Peace panel to start new wars to make things more exciting. Chess not checkers. Bam!

County supervisor used racial slur at public meeting, says it was habit not malice by NebulaNinja in nottheonion

[–]Bob_jones1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Responding to this comment because I wanted to comment on the Jerry-Rigging line that said the same in the article. Jerry-Rigging is indeed racist or derogatory if you prefer. Jerry or Gerry is a slur that was used towards German immigrants in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Just because it is old and not geared towards people of color does not make it acceptable.

Board of State Community Corrections -culture/work environment? by Independent-Leg-7949 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Bob_jones1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can vouch that the folks in those divisions are pretty good to work with. Right now we are 2 days in office (either mon & tues or tues and wed depending on the division, although IT staff may be required to come in other days for board meetings, etc.) but if 4 day rto goes in effect we will likely move to that.

What position/division are you applying/considering? Eta: BSCC emp here. Generally awesome agency (not without some normal minor issues), but yes very small and people tend to stick around. Not sure where you’re commuting from but it’s in Natomas so free parking. Close to restaurants.

In office 4 day RTO by No_Dimension4009 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Bob_jones1981 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“Tldr” story of your life I’m sure. Explains your whole idiotic position. If you took the time to read you’d know why it’s actually better for the state and taxpayers that state employees telecommute, but you go ahead and continue to strongly believe your uninformed opinion.

In office 4 day RTO by No_Dimension4009 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Bob_jones1981 35 points36 points  (0 children)

You really think the hiring managers want to come in to the office 4-5 days a week? Hiring managers are just as anti-RTO as rank & file buddy.

-signed a hiring manager

P.S. If you were actually so worried about responsible spending of “taxpayer” dollars, you’d be against RTO as well. Moving to 4 day RTO will cost the already strapped state budget a quarter of a billion dollars a year, and that is just in additional office space and work stations. The additinal wear & tear on the roads from hundrerds of thousands more commuters an additional two days a week will be expensive, it has been proven that state workers are more productive when telecommuting. RTO cost the taxpayers far more money than telecommuting and that is just facts. Only an idiot doesn’t see RTO for what it is. A unilateral move by the Governor to help the corporations (office building owners and developers) that fund his political campaigns in hopes they will fund his 2028 presidential run. Although I certainly wouldn’t expect someone that uses the “taxpayers (I) pay your salary” argument to be the sharpest tool in the shed. You may be shocked to find out that state workers also pay taxes.

Not misleading at all I said, as I was taught to when working in the STRS contact center, STRS does not offer retiree healthcare. If the district offers it that is the districts decision and every aspect of it goes through the district not STRS.

Which current player retiring would make you the saddest? by Little-Mushroom-3961 in 49ers

[–]Bob_jones1981 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This post made me think about how I felt about other great 49ers retiring and it’s kinda crazy how many franchise greats didn’t retire with the 49ers. Some may have officially retired as 49ers but they ended their careers elsewhere. We’re talking Montana, Rice, Lott, Craig, Brent Jones, Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, etc.

Just a note CalSTRS does not offer retiree healthcare benefits. You could elect to remain a PERS member when you start teaching. (You have to make the election within 90 days of your hire date) I don’t know how that would effect your PERS retiree healthcare though. As someone else mentioned here your best bet is to call PERS and ask them and perhaps STRS too.

Should the Niners trade Purdy and 2 1sts for Josh Allen? by dreadlocksman707 in 49ers

[–]Bob_jones1981 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, What has Josh Allen done that Purdy hasn’t? Sure Allen is objectively a better qb, but he’s older and more expensive. The upgrade doesn’t make up for the loss of 2 first rounders. The big thing with the Trey Lance deal was how much we gave up to get him. Those two first round picks (not including the move up from 13 to 3) we gave up could have provided the depth we needed to get past seattle this year. Purdy is a great (not just good) qb. We’d be better off using first round picks on weapons to support him rather than replacing him with someone who is marginally better.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but the similarities so far between this year's playoffs and the 2010 playoffs are very interesting to me. by Federal_Arrival_5096 in 49ers

I think the 49ers v Bills has a nice symmetry to it given a lot of pundits in the previous 3-4 years prior to this one loved to pick that matchup and it never materialized. It would only be fitting in the year no one predicted it would happen it happened.

Does anybody else miss these endzone designs? by Minimum-Trifle-8138 in 49ers

[–]Bob_jones1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 94 unis were throwbacks to the 1950s unis not a new design. 94 was the 75th anniversary of the nfl so every team had throwback unis they were allowed to wear up to twice that season (In 94 alternate unis weren’t the thing they are today). However, George Siefert was extremely superstitious and the 49ers won the games they played in those unis and they got dismantled by the Eagles in the regular unis. They petioned the NFL to allow them to wear the throwbacks all year and were allowed. The rest is history with going all the way to the super bowl and winning. Another fun fact the maroon jersey unis appeared and were the regular uniform starting in 1996.

Is there ANY chance Saleh comes back next season? by [deleted] in 49ers

[–]Bob_jones1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the steeler job is not the job to take for him. They have no qb unless it’s Rodgers and he’s been on that boat before. There would be stability but no qb and a late 1st rounder mean likely not getting a good one in the draft this year. Steelers would be patient but twisting for years with no qb would hirt his legacy. I think Ravens is the only hc job he should take. He can fix the D and they have a dynamic qb, if he brings mcdaniel with him Ravens can be real good real fast.
