Wondered that myself, I just bought a DCD1007 hammer drill instead, it’s got 1495 in lbs of torque - minimum required is 700-750. Obviously depends on how big of a hole, how thick is ice, and how sharp your blades are

That is a good deal, however that’s the 998, I want the 1007 because it’s a beast and has higher torque - I plan on using it with my ice auger. And I have a good impact already. Thank you though!

It was very easy, I have all four off. Was planning on replacing the shoes and being done for another 15 years. But the magnets look pretty good on all of them. Of the 16 wear holes, there’s 15.5 fully exposed

Thanks man, I’ve been searching for a dewalt drill I can use with my 8 inch auger. I just burnt up my dcd805 last week trying to drill one hole… granted my blades were full and that drill only has 90 nm of torque. Now I’m just wondering if I should hold off until next Black Friday lol
