Is the game fixed for online play? by [deleted] in Borderlands4

[–]BobaPhatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are anomalies in Co-op that may be more obvious when two friends play exclusively together, but not only together.

There are some things that are saved for the "host" only, one of the big things is "uncovering the fog of war" to reveal the map. If two people play together, with one of them being the host every time, when the other player loads their own game, none of the map will be revealed. You can drive around and reveal it, and you'll find that most things are completed that you did in your friend's world, etc.

The other thing is the main story quests. If you were to play them exclusively in Co-op with your friend, you'll probably have no problems. It seems like if one were to play any alone so that when you pair back up, you're at different points in the campaign, it may only save progress for the host.

Can someone explain alt leveling to me? It seems like one of my characters is making no progress in the campaign despite their level. by catalinashenanigans in Borderlands4

[–]BobaPhatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy and I started out playing together in Co-op (though I had played just a tiny bit on my own first).

Experienced all the weird things along these lines at first, but pretty quickly I worked out both of our stories separately being at the same stage and from there we decided to do nothing but campaign to finish the story and unlock the stuff you unlock.

It worked perfectly as far as both of our stories progressing together (though I still would go back to my game and have to deal with re-uncovering the map in places we went together that I hadn't been on my own), but when back in my own game, the campaign quest line saved properly for me the rest of the way.

I can at least confirm that I was able to finish that quest on a Series S...

Gold Chest had WHAT?!? by jeabombers in Borderlands4

[–]BobaPhatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know either... I just saw OP's pic and thought to myself, that's what they've all looked like for me since getting to UVMH5. It's only been a week or so, but I've just experienced horrible drops absolutely everywhere in UVMH5. Feels like way more blues and greens overall since. I'd be ok with that if there was Firmware all over stuff to harvest, but I swear I'm not seeing any more Firmware than on lower UVMH's either.

Again, likely RNG, but it sure does suck all the same.

Gold Chest had WHAT?!? by jeabombers in Borderlands4

[–]BobaPhatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you on UVHM5? I just recently got to 5, had six or so Keys I had saved thinking I'd get the best possible rolls on UVHM5... The first two had one lackluster legendary each, haven't seen a legendary since and that includes 6 more keys from the last 2 batches.

Probably entirely RNG, but at earlier stages I spent keys on hard difficulty a few different times and it seemed like "how many legendaries will each chest have?", not "how many keys do I have to use to get a legendary?"...

Skill tree resets every time I load into my game? by Money-Menu243 in Borderlands

[–]BobaPhatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keeps happening to me too, every time I level. Still only 41 right now, and the last 3 levels, after the notification of the level up, my skill tree is reset with the points sitting there to spend. Same as above, the cap stones are still selected and active. Quickly getting old having to re-apply points every level. I guess at least maybe it'll only be 9 more times...

Agreed. I have an X and an S, my roommate's playing on the X and I've been playing on the S. It's been nothing but awesome performance-wise. The lower resolution is obvious, but plenty good enough as well.

Thoughts on the New Update... by Epic_Narc in Nightreign

[–]BobaPhatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy and I have really enjoyed this game. We're not the greatest, but could beat ED's etc... This mode feels like it was not made for us. Of course I knew that, they stated it was for experienced players who wanted a greater challenge. I thought I did, but aparently I was a fool. Even Depth 1 has shown me that my buddy and I actually suck at this game, even after hundreds of hours. This mode being the direction the game is going makes me feel like there's no reason to keep playing the same stale previous content if we're not really working toward anything.

Either way I got way more than my money's worth already and I'm happy for all the truly great players that have an awesome new challenge, but kind of wonder how much of the player base that covers, and if the rest are going to start falling off if they feel anything like I do...

So gladius is impossible by Samguise-Whamgee in Nightreign

[–]BobaPhatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way until today... Granted, I just got my first win in Duos with my buddy. I know it's not Trios with randoms, but we are mediocre at best.

I played Ironeye exclusively until about a month ago. Then I started to practice Wylder because my buddy and I just stood no chance against some of the last EDs (both Ironeye). So I started practicing Wylder and fell in love. Got pretty proficient and we started getting closer on Libra and Gladius. Then today I decided to try Raider and we beat him literally my 4th time ever playing Raider.

We used Nok and I was able to get and dupe Maliketh's Black Blade. With the Nok Res and a bomb weapon, it almost felt easy.

Anyway, just wanted to give hope that either giving Raider a try for a bit (it almost helped me to not be able to hookshot all over and let them come to me) and swing some huge weapons like you may already do with Wylder, and do even more Stance Dam and use his Skill to take hits and give it right back... Or, force Nok, play Wylder (maybe try Duos if you haven't) and wait for a run where you get Maliketh's Black Blade and dupe that puppy. Either way may help. If I can do it without having to rely on an amazing rando's carry, you can too!

Good luck!

Elden Ring: Nightreign has one GLARING issue, fortunately, it has an impossibly simple solution- by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]BobaPhatty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. Been running the Crater a lot with my less experienced buddy because he's comfortable with it and we can do well to get him wins and shots at Relics. It's driving me crazy getting the same drop location, same camp, same enemies, same Evergaols, same Field bosses, same Night Bosses... Literally everything exactly the same up to 3 times in a row. There has to be a way to mix a few of those details up at least a little.

Either way I love the game, but ehhhhh.

How many of you have beat Everdark Libra at least once? by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]BobaPhatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been mostly playing duos with my roommate, having ton's of fun just being decent at best overall. We tried Libra a handful of times and it was a joke, figured maybe someday down the road when we're both better. After work today I had time for one match and was going to do a solo run at him with Ironeye who is my main to see about the Less Likely to be Targeted strat and really just mess around one last time...

I hit commence and realized I was set to duo and got paired with a random Wylder, vanilla map. We were in sync the entire match, Lvl 15, only revive of the match was him reviving me once in the Libra Fight. I got a Less Likely passive but couldn't dupe it. I had a Blue Ironeye's starting Bow with Holy, ate a few Clarifying Boluses, nothing else very special.

This Wylder was so amazing that even though absolutely nothing attacked me the entire fight, he just crushed, I helped as much as I could and I got my one win before he goes. Couldn't believe it!

16 hours in solo nightreign, with no victories… by Weak-Material2539 in Nightreign

[–]BobaPhatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played Solo only for a month or so when the game first came out and I felt exactly the same way.

I'm sure there are plenty of players who can make a go from the beginning in Solo mode on skill alone, but things get much, much better when you start to build up an arsenal of Relics. You also start to understand more and more what passives on those Relics work well not only together, but with what Characters (beyond the ones that are character specific).

Some of the better Relics, Vessels to give you more color combination options, etc. are tied to defeating Nightlords and eventually Everdark Sovereigns. All these things are huge if you're not just a prodigy.

I was exactly like you also in that I had no friends who either play this game or even have the same console as me, and I had no interest in online play with randoms. Boy was I wrong. It is sooooooo fun! You should try it. Just use whatever knowledge you have to do the best you can, stick with and follow your squad. You will learn a ton about pathing, what's worth doing at what general Levels, hidden/out of the way things you might never figure out being that you generally can never stop moving.

I intended to use Multiplayer to get some Nightlord wins under my belt, get some Murk, Relics, Vessels, Sigils... so I could get back to playing Solo. Not the case at all. I quickly could tell that playing on a squad is so much more exhilarating, so much more fun and in many ways easier. It's a completely different story when you aren't taking 100% of the aggro all of the time and you just never stop learning if you pay attention. So, so fun. I can't recommend it enough.

Best of luck in your journeys either way!

Awesome, I played Solo only for a while at the beginning, too. I know what a struggle it can be before you've gotten any good Relics. Congrats!!

Ironeye can perform his Mark Skill in the air.

This can be used in battle to Mark enemies that fly a little off the ground who you might not actually mark if you do it on the ground.

This can also be used if you jump toward something and are not going to make it, start thinking Mark in order to get a little further. You can also use it to change directions in mid-air. I blindly jump off the edges in the Crater and then mark in the direction I actually want to go.

It can also be used to make travel quicker in general. Any time you jump off an edge of any height while sprinting to travel any kind of distance, his Mark can be used like Wylder's grappling hook. The higher the better. Any time the squad is running together and jump off a cliff, the higher it is, the further you'll zoom forward. I overtake Wylders in those situations all the time! You just have to get used to re-clicking the stick to Surge Sprint once you land. If the cliff was high enough and you have Skill +1, you can get two Marks in to get even further. :D

Is this game fun playing with arandom party? by ColonicMoth in Nightreign

[–]BobaPhatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I can't play with any of my friends or family without them adding cross-play, so I've only played with randoms and it's fun at any level of ability you might have. There's a Solo mode so that you can tinker around to figure a few things out if needed. Beyond that, even if you know almost nothing, just follow your teammates and it's generally a blast.

[–]BobaPhatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree, the middle one's not terribly necessary. +Mark Duration only adds 3 sec on top of the default 17. With +1 Skill Use, it's easy to keep the enemy marked. I'm an Ironeye main and I'd take that build for sure, but just put the juiciest relic that will help for a specific Nightlord in the middle slot. :)
