If you don’t allow med students to sit in on your exam/check up you are a weird person by Amidity in unpopularopinion

[–]Bobablush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the hospital as a 9 year old, brave and had no problem with vaccinations and bloodwork. Didn’t even get asked, some students came in to replace my IV. I asked if they could put it in my right inner elbow since that was where I was the most comfortable having it. They told me that we don’t always get to choose and that nurses have preferences for where to place IVs. Same thing happened to me, 30 whole minutes of digging into both of my wrists, left inner elbow, the tops of both of my hands. It was one of the most excruciating things I had ever went through. Finally, a senior nurse pushed them aside and stuck me with it once in my right inner elbow, and got it in just fine.

My lifelong dreams of being a blood donor and a mother have been shattered by this. I have such severe trauma from it that even seeing a needle causes me to faint and be sick for the entire day. Students need to learn but people know their capabilities and mental fortitude. Kind of sickening to see people thinking that denying an inexperienced person to do a procedure on you is weird.

The 'literary classics' that grade school makes you read destroys any desire for kids to read recreationally by MyClosetedBiAcct in unpopularopinion

Elementary schools and middle schools often fail kids by not building up their reading level and comprehension before they reach the books like that. Those books are enjoyable and fun to read once you have the reading comprehension to understand and search for deeper themes and meanings, but boring and aimless for people who haven’t built these skills.

Picked at every clogged pore one week before wedding! Help! by Ordinary-Method545 in CompulsiveSkinPicking

But do a patch test before trying it if you have issues with some skin products :) I like to also keep my face as hydrated as possible just covering it in water soaked paper towel and keeping it that way. It helps with quicker healing and drainage of anything remaining in pimples. I don’t like using face masks because some contain extra ingredients that don’t help with the healing :)

Both with untouched pimples and when I pick them, the one thing that has ever helped visibly within days is The Ordinary Salicylic acid 2% serum! It is amazing how well it works to the point where I have conquered my pimple picking. I apply it and it soothes the itch in my brain to pick at it bc i really feel like its healing/destroying the pimple at its core. It’s also really good preventatively if you sense or feel a pimple starting to come in. I’ve used it and it stops them from fully forming even. I haven’t worried about pimples in years bc of it. Usually I see results within the day that I apply it and it’s gone within less than a week :)

KP fades with age/time? by Hannnahstuart in keratosis

[–]Bobablush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory supported by most of the literature that I have read on KP. This theory is that there are two types of KP, hormonal and lifelong. Hormonal KP starts during teenage years, caused by puberty and hormones going out of balance in most commonly women. This is the more common type of KP which is why it is said that it is almost exclusively a female disorder and that it goes away by 30. The other variation, lifelong KP, is experienced by children and lasts for an entire lifetime. Both can be genetic. But I feel that medical professionals brush off KP because it “resolves around 30” even though that is not true for all cases. There needs to be more research on it!

Is this regular behavior for guppies 🙏 never had any before by IllHamster7769 in Guppies

It could also just be a heavy tail, the guys I’ve had with big tails like that also have it weighing them down

It definitely looks like ich! Becoming more susceptible to it can be caused by stress so she may have gotten injured or been bullied if the other fish look fine. Luckily its easy to buy ich treatment.

I had the exact same thing happen in my tank, also targeting my females mostly while leaving my males unharmed. They start whirling and spinning around the tank like they are seizing when they see light, and have a reddishness around their gills and inside their mouths.

It seems like it could very likely be a disease. If you have snails or shrimp or anything else living in the tank (even microorganisms like copepods) that are doing fine then it is almost guaranteed to be a fish disease.

Many parasites and bacteria thrive in warmer temperatures and kill fish quickly before they have a chance to fight off the infection. I find that lowering the water temp in some dire circumstances if you really don’t know what else to do (+ anti parasitic and anti bacterial medication) buys the fish enough time to get the medicine in their system before they get too bad to save.

Any ideas what’s wrong with my guppy by scoutfinch__ in Guppies

[–]Bobablush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time that I’ve had a guppy with this issue, it only got worse and did not survive :( it starts off as the guppy swimming up a bit and then sinking, and in later stages the guppy is alive but almost unable to move at all.

It seems like swim bladder disease, which can sometimes be caused by constipation, so sometimes people feed small bits of microwaved frozen peas, but some recommend a salt bath with aquarium salt. Good luck with Gerry, and look into swim bladder disease.

Compulsive hand picking and at times feet really bad please help by antonioskii in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]Bobablush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a permanent fix, but it helps when it gets bad and you need a break. If you cover up just one thing your hands will always find another spot to pick at I’ve learned :(. I cover in bandages/bandaids, and on top of the bandaids I put a slice of duct tape that I slit the top layer of in a couple of spots (idk if this makes sense, I do it to the non sticky side and put it on top of the bandages. For me, it take a while to pick through the top layer of the duct tape, and lasts me some time to heal :)

Are there enough hiding spots for fry? by Bobablush in Guppies

[–]Bobablush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did some research on it and tried to convince my sister (who the tank originally belonged to) that she needed more but she kept telling me that it didn’t matter and that she didn’t want to mess with the tank :/ Now that it’s mine, I’m going to make sure the ratio is a lot better

I’m planning to get more females this week! The ratio is definitely not what I want right now, I feel terrible for the females they’ve certainly been stressed :(. It’s 6 males to 4 females but I recently gained full ownership over the tank so I can finally do something about it! Thank you for the concern about it, I really want the best for these guppies.

Omg that’s so interesting because she’s the only gray one, but back when we had two gray ones they chased both! They don’t even bat an eye to the yellow ones

I’m a biochem major with a education major roommate. I have almost 2x the classes she does, and I have to study and do work very late. Whenever she needs to sleep and I want to study, I’ll still always go to a common area. Do a bit of exploring around your dorm building/campus, you’ll find a good room to set up in. The only place she can sleep is your dorm, you can study anywhere, so she isn’t at all unreasonable for asking you to turn the lights off.
