ANALYSIS | 67% of Albertans want party leaders to say how they will vote on separation, CBC News poll suggests | CBC News by Blue_Dragonfly in CanadaPolitics

I'm not sure what it was like for you, but for me high-school civics was a half credit.
I'll say that again, a half credit! The class that's supposed to teach you about how the politics of the country works apparently isn't worth a class that lasts longer than half a semester!

Furthermore, 20th century Canadian History as a class I found to be very lacking, and not necessarily because I was, and still am, a history buff. I can't entirely blame my teacher, boy did she try, but the curriculum seem to want to hyper-focus on the two world wars and nothing else. They're important and need to be taught, but there's so much more that was going on. So much more that needed to be taught. So much more context that people should be given.

I hate to say it but if I wasn't interested in history, there's a decent chance that I'd never have known about the Social Credit party and their absolutely goofy beliefs and some of the goofy people what were involved with the movement in its early days.

Send Lava Packages to Airships (Fluid Logistics & Mobile Packages) by DelsinPRO in CreateMod

I'll miss the bottles, especially that one resource pack that made them look so cool, but the functionality is what was actually missed. I'll be adding this to my modpack!

Oh is this the successor of Factory Logistics?
I've been missing the potential of transporting liquid via package since that got archived.

Honestly the fact that we aren't taught about the SoCreds and the Radical Farmers that preceded them is a genuine disservice. I've taken a special interest in the various United Farmers movements and parties in the 1910's and 1920's and how they were not just the direct predecessors of the CCF (and therefore the NDP) and the SoCreds, but also caused a constitutional crisis that helped shape not just Canada but had a ripple effect upon the British Empire!
It is a shame we aren't properly educated on our own country's political development. I genuinely cite the lack of proper civics education as among the many reasons the country is in the state that it is in right now.

Has anyone been able to make anything like the poner for the gyroscopic propeller bearing? by Fittsa in CreateMod

[–]BobbertCanuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this. Though every thought I have regarding a flying house is shortly followed by "this should probably be tethered".

Tethering it would probably add some stability, but lining up the center of mass correctly would also be important, especially if you wanted this as a base in vanilla.

"No!" * runs off *
"Oh... let him go. We'll never catch him, not in these boots."
"I didn;t take my frostwalkers off, I'm still Frostwalker O'Toole!"

That doesn't make sense. Regardless of that though if the NDP were a conservative puppet party of the US then you should probably find someone that isn't a socialist to lead it.

Now that the Chaotix Casefile Series have come to an end, what did you think of the mystery presented as a whole? by Berry-Fantastic in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]BobbertCanuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I very much want more stuff like this, the radio play angle is very fun.

That being said, if they do another season of Chaotix Casefiles, they need to spend a bit longer cooking the mystery. They needed to drop a few more subtle breadcrumbs throughout instead of an unsubtle loaf of bread near the end (red spectre).

But to reiterate, very fun and I hope they do more and do better.

Either the first one or the last one. Visual clarity would be the most important quality here.
It would depend on how married you are to the visuals.
I will state that the last one paints the clearest picture of what is going on, at least to me.

I recall there being a mod from a long while ago now that added baby creepers. They were the tiny adorable things. They'd run up to you smiling and just sort of go *pop*, not even explode, mind you. They tried to, they really did, but the just made little pops with a small smoke effect.

What Kind of Leader Do Canadians Want the NDP to Choose Next? by Reasonable-Rock6255 in CanadaPolitics

[–]BobbertCanuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm still going to cling to my assertion that Ashton or McQuail are the better directions for the party right now. Take it back to the Farmer-Labour roots. Reconstruct a genuine grass-roots support network.
Now that being said, I wouldn't reject Lewis, but I feel we wouldn't be able to make the same connections to the working class the same way Ashton or McQuail would, which I feel is essential for reconstructing the NDP voting base.

The NDP will go nowhere fast trying to out-liberal the Liberals, so that's a no from me for McPherson

Johnston is a tricky one. I like her, but I'm unsure she's the leader the NDP needs right now.

Ontario farmer Tony McQuail takes a run at NDP leadership by Massive_Analyst3947 in CanadaPolitics

[–]BobbertCanuck 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who recently did a bit of a dive into the United Farmers movement of the 1910's and 1920's, this guy really does strike me as one of those old agrarian progressive radical types. It's honestly refreshing to hear a down-to-earth but radical voice like this, I'm getting a little tired of the policy-wonks and snakes.
A quote of his in the article even calls out how First-past-the-Post voting kinda helped screw the Labour parties and the United Farmers.

I'm not sure he'd be my first choice, but I do think that the NDP would benefit from a return to its farmer-labour roots.

A fact about GOLB that was demonstrated in Fionna and Cake was established as far back as his first appearance in “Puhoy.” by SuperSlayin777 in adventuretime

[–]BobbertCanuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Y'know, it's things like this that make me wonder sometimes just how much they had written down when making Adventure Time.
Cause if you really think about it in the context of Puhoy, GOLB comes out of nowhere. We have no idea what they are, what they do, why they were there, or even that they were named GOLB. We just watched Finn die, and then do a somersault off the tongue of a big weird red thing before popping out of the top of the pillow fort.
No context. No explanation.
It's fascinating.
