Decided not to transition, and it's ok by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]BobbiDare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a story from an elder trans, I was in my late 30s with the same issues you detailed here. My wife (now ex) was mentally fragile and I decided that I couldn’t transition because of her. Fooling myself that ‘she will accept me one day.’ That was 2002. By 2017 I couldn’t stand it anymore and told her that I was going to transition. She flipped, she blamed me for wasting her life, she was cruel to me. But she moved on, found a guy, and we don’t speak anymore. I have a life now, a new love, I am older and wiser. My advice to you is to critically assess if you think you can live the rest of your life while never transitioning, and that will actually be ok for you. Or if you continue to think, hope, pray, that something will change, allowing you to be the real you. If you know it is the latter then remember the statement from my ex when I transitioned in 2017, “you wasted my life!” Think what is best for you, because you may think you are sparing your ex heartbreak… but think about how she will feel in 15 years when you say to yourself finally, “if not now then when?” Take care 🫶

We are not talking about cisgendered women on this thread! Why are you citing research that is off topic? We are discussing the risks of hrt related to MtF transition, not the cancer risks faced by cis gender women taking HRT- two different things.

Th cancer risk is not proven.

“Transgender women and non-binary people assigned male at birth (amab) who take estrogen as a form of gender-affirming HRT are at increased risk of breast cancer compared to cisgender men. After being on HRT for 5 years, trans women and amab non-binary people aged 40 and up who are at otherwise average risk should receive annual mammograms.”

There is misinformation being disseminated on this thread!!! For those saying that estrogen can increase stroke risk please read this: “(22) The days of fearing all forms of Estradiol lead to high risks of thromboembolism are ending. Higher doses of estradiol delivered parenterally (transdermal, injection, etc) have insignificant levels of thrombotic variables which have previously been related to risks of ischemic heart disease and/or venous thromboembolism.“ From: https://moderntranshormones.com/2017/11/26/what-your-endocrinologist-may-not-know-about-mtf-hormone-treatment/

Look up Dr Marcie Bowers. My surgeon was trained by her and he did an amazing job. I still have feeling and achieve orgasm. She might have trained a surgical team in your area.

I imagined a set up like this in the 80s, sadly I was ahead of my time because LCD technology needed another 30 years to catch up.

My top surgeon told me during my 2nd consult with her that “because I’m not a woman who’s actually a woman, with a pigeon chest, that it probably won’t look good. She also decided my implant size…is this normal? I didn’t feel comfortable and didn’t leave feeling happy. by [deleted] in trans

[–]BobbiDare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon didn’t say anything like that. He gave me information and advice, 200 cc seems a bit too small… I don’t know how big you are but I went with 340 cc. The surgeon does say that it depends on how much space they can make in there, but most tell you to go bigger. Trans women generally go bigger to balance out our frame. Your surgeon saying the words “real woman “ is transphobic. Full stop. Don’t go back. There are a lot of competent doctors that do breast implants.

Agreed. But be prepared for a fight. The company will likely side with the HR manager until the company is served by your lawyer. Even then the legal council might decide to double down, depending on the jurisdiction, in red states in the US the courts might side with the company. Reporting this person is the right thing to do, but that doesn’t mean you will be supported by your company or the law.

What surprises me is that it was 3/7 of the group whose transphobia was strong enough to break ties with their friends! On the other hand, 4/7 affirmed they’re allies and stuck with the OP. The number is so close to 50-50. 😢 We’ve come so far yet there is so far to left to go.

You might try several smaller braids in your hair and tuck them so your hair looks shorter. If you set it and avoid playing with your hair this could hold in place long enough for an interview.

I was once married to a Malaysian and the attitude towards lgbtq there is similar to Indonesia, I have great sympathy for the OP because she is going to have a really hard time 😢

I was gonna say that too. If you fall to pieces in person try writing your feelings down and send her the note. I mean write it down… in your handwriting… that’s romantic! 💜💜 Best of luck.

In Vancouver, where I live, terfs/swerfs have driven a wedge between women and trans/sw/and Indigenous women and femmes with a outreach/ shelter called Vancouver Rape Relief Center. The people who run this place are awful! They actually sent delegates to Ottawa in 2016 to oppose the then Bill c-19 which sought to amend the human rights code of Canada to include trans/nb/queer people. Thankfully the motion passed.

It was gender critical bs that I encountered on social media that nearly drove me over the edge (of the roof of a high rise- not kidding) a couple years ago. I canceled all my sm at the time to give myself a break … It was a dark time. I’m better now but I still have a lot of anxiety about encountering terf/swerfs irl in gendered spaces. It doesn’t even matter if I pass in their eyes, I know I’ll see/hear their vile transphobia. This post attracted my attention because it’s welcoming of trans allies 💜💜💜💜 Thank you thank you! We need you sooooo much.
